Thin Lizzy Diddy Levine Comments
  1. j.... b....

wormpiano, do not worry about a thing, now push over as you are not alone, This is also my most favorite Thin Lizzy album followed in equal place by every other Thin Lizzy album that the ever released.

  2. J.... S....

Whats not to like? "heaxagonaly crazed", "straight in at number 13", "folk inspired rock" Randolphs tango, bass leading the chords into a new reflection of an Eireann that'll never be the same again. From "the friendly ranger of clontarf castle" to "live and dangerous" Via Sitamoaia. Sita moa ia "will she marry, will she marry, will she marry the man with the money"
A familiar story. Grow a mind with/out a father in a land that can never be your own again. "Pssst, Hey chico we got a message for ya, see, vamos vamos muchacho" There ain't no need for ya, there ain't no need for ya
. Go straight to hell boy, and it won't be long before summers gone and the boys are back in town again.

A young 21 year old Phil before the drugs & alcohol consumed his life & took him to an early grave.

Mine too. Bought the album in 1972, must have heard it on pirate radio I guess. I was at North East London Poly in 1972 and Thin Lizzy played the Dagenham Roundhouse down the road from the college, when they were unknown. It was a big room at the back of a pub, and was about half full. I stood right in front of the band who were on a two foot stage. Great days!

  5. U.... E....

my favourite thin lizzy line up .

  6. M.... A....

you are never alone my brethren in the home of ROCK n ROLL

  7. j.... b....

this is my favorite Thin Lizzy album along with every other single album, single that they ever released, they are all my favorites and nobody is going to change my mind on this so do not every try, Like Phil say, I will take no lip, nobody is tougher then me

  8. C.... V....

    first or vagabonds my favorite

  9. B.... K....

Can't ya' see...Marshall Tucker Band...little bit. This came first.

  10. T.... ....

Some really shit and deluded comments before me. Keep it simple stupid. This is a great song. Lynott was a great song writer. Enough said. 👌🏽

  11. K.... S....

    verliebt in Musik?O.k.😉

  12. D.... K....

Gorgeous Dublin love song. God bless you Phil.

Awesome Version of Diddy Levine by Thin Lizzy. It's start as a slow acoustic song then builds to a wild instrumental jam then develops to a powerful progressive middle section in more in the style of RUSH with Eric Bell's impressive guitar playing and Brian Downey's Powerful and Phenomenal Drumming and Phil Lynott's Gentle and heartfelt singing with Emotion on this song and then goes back to a slow but more of a upbeat Steady Rock Song. Thank you.

  14. A.... ....

One of the VERY few bands about which one can say they were as great and unique as Led Zeppelin.

  15. A.... L....

If you put "old moon madness", "Dublin", and "things ain't working out down at the farm" on the original first album .. I think a strong case could be made for this album being the best of the first 3. Having said that..... If you put "a ride in the Lizzymobile", "whisky in the jar", and "black boys on the corner" on the 3rd album.... I think you could make the case that the Vagabonds album is the best album of all time. ....... Having said that..... My fave song ever is Vagabond of the western world, so it's already my fave album 😊

  16. A.... ....

    So incredibly heartfelt.

  17. c.... k....

I can't really pick a favorite Thin Lizzy album, but the first three are so special, all the heart and soul of their sound come from this era!

    c.... k....

is the first three self titled, vagabonds of the western world and night life?

    c.... k....

Tales of a blue orphanage is the second album, vagabonds is the third.

    c.... k....

'Shades' not 'Tales' of a blue orphanage. And Yes their first three albums

    'Thin Lizzy' (1971)
'Shades of a blue orphanage' (1972)
'Vagabonds of the western world' (1973)

are their BEST! The Holy Trinity of Thin Lizzy's albums.

    c.... k....

chris kirschten so true with so many bands their best stuff is usually in the first two or three albums

  18. M.... S....

I love that album too. - Hard to find a favourite though. This one's very different to the others

  19. S.... ....

Maybe this evokes the time and place I don't know.

But that Irish or British neighbourhood on the cover looks miserable and the song sounds like it to me. I almost feel like I'm walking around a dull suburb with nothing to do.

  20. k.... ....

You are so not alone. I love this song so much. They captured how I felt as a kid in the 70s somehow.

  21. P.... Q....

    great, great song.   Love
    lizzy's first album!!!!

  22. C.... ....

    common.....love this shit....

  23. K.... C....

this diddy levine song is his best one combines 3 songs in one and makes it brilliant this is the most underrated song ever

  24. C.... W....

Thanks for posting -- when music was good. Poor fuckers today, I'd rather iron sheets than listen to todays crap.

  25. w.... ....

You are definitely not on your own!!!! I have always thought this was one of the most awesome albums ever recorded and underrated as far as Thin Lizzy was concerned....

  26. z.... ....

Nope, you aren't on your own. Thin Lizzy was much more interesting and creative in this era. Eric Bell really brought out the mystery and feeling out of Phil's lyrics. This is band at its most genuine. After Eric left, Phil dumbed the band down. They lost the musical spark.

Eric Bell in Thin Lizzy = EPIC

Thin Lizzy without Eric Bell = Dumbed down corporate rock with only brief flashes of its former brilliance.

    'nuff said.

    z.... ....

I agree with you to an extent . They did go more mainstream after Eric left, but they were desperate to make a living and radio hits were a necessity. My favorite rock song of all time is the title track to Vagabonds, so I agree with your assessment . I happen to love Opium Trail and a few others from the later years tho 😊

    z.... ....

Yes Eric and Phil Lynott were the best

  27. S.... C....

"WITH A CHILD IN HER ARRMS" 0:26

rough rugged & raw vocal but that makes it all the more beautiful...very unique singer Phil is

  28. q.... ....

always loved this the first album was so lyrical they could've gone a different direction on the strength of this

  29. h.... ....

3:04-4:46 is the best part of the song!

  30. T.... ....

No wormplano you're not on your own. This is one amazing album. Lizzy's first 3 albums are on a whole 'nuther level than their more famous mainstream hard rock albums - my favorites.

  31. r.... ....

    love this song

  32. m.... ....

Well. It was a long time ago and most of the conversation was about how to find the motorway after dropping me off (we were in Glasgow). There was also talk about Phil's platform shoes (the very ones with the stars on that he's wearing in the pic on your user page, sbyrne)

  33. m.... ....

Brings back memories of seeing them live (before Whisky in the Jar). I still have the first two albums signed by the band. They even gave me a lift home from one of heir gigs. Thanks for posting this. Yes It IS an excellent song from an excellent album. My favourite too!

  34. J.... T....

Phil's early lyrics were but gems.

    love hard
