Thin Lizzy Borderline Comments
  1. B.... S....

Most people don’t know that Brian Robertson actually wrote this song! Pretty sure it was for an ex girlfriend of his. Awesome song, awesome Band!

  2. H.... M....

I'D LOVE TO SEE A SUPER GROUP OF COUNTRY STARS MAKE A ALBUM OF THIN LIZZY SONG'S👍 THAT WOULD DEFINITELY MAKE SOME GREAT COUNTRY TUNES!❤

  3. K.... L....

Lynnot was one the greatest rock poets ever.

    Jeanie, how genius is that?

    The jeanie in the bottle...

  4. t.... ....

Thin Lizzy were amazing, best band ever to roam this planet. Long live Philo ❤️

  5. S.... S....

Only just come across this song, better late than never.

  6. L.... S....

He might have been an Irishman but he had the heart of a true American cowboy.

  7. B.... ....

    I miss my dad

  8. P.... P....

He can acctually start the waterworks... a musician thats capable of that," in my case", should be rewarded…...R.I.P....

  9. I.... P....

The Rock and Roll Hall of Shame can't handle the LIZZ!

  10. I.... P....

Thin Lizzy....What a good a band! I have loved their music since my teens back in the 70s

  11. S.... H....

One of Thin Lizzy's greatest ever tracks. Takes me back to my teenage days!!

    S.... H....

One of the best albums of all times two Johnny the fox

  12. c.... b....

Apparently when Jon Bon Jovi _ or however you spell it - came across Thin Lizzy's back catalogue, he said he was really moved esp by the songs about cowboys and cowgirls and heading southbound etc. So he basically pinched the ideas because Lizzy weren't around then. And he comes up with the following lyric "I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride, I'm wanted, dead or alive"............Ahem, I think Phil would have chucked those words away and put it down to having a bad day at the office.

It makes you realise how good Phil Lynott was as a lyricist. The lyrics to Cowboy Song and Southbound for instance are just brilliant, helping you form a strong mental image in your head. "I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride" on the other hand is just plain naff- like Bon Jovi really. Pale imitations - or should I say pale horse imitation? 😉

  13. j.... d....

    very eaglesesque...

  14. M.... M....

Unquestionably, the Emerald Isle's single greatest export,Phillip Parris Lynott!

    M.... M....

Actually I think this is Robbo's song (Jeanie was his girlfriend at the time). Philip fiddled with the lyrics and got a writing credit!

  15. m.... -....

top work, cheers THIN LIZZY BORDER LINE - remember it well (between fights )
    CHEEEEERS !!! : )

  16. P.... K....

another song movie from Lynott & the boys...

  17. J.... F....

God has spoken to all you kids!

  18. j.... b....

This help to show only a little of the sheer class/brilliants of Phil and his boys in Thin Lizzy, the story, the music, the playing and singing. No other band could quite reach the height that Lizzy did

  19. F.... M....

A truly great song. The intro tugs at the heart strings.

  20. c.... ....

    this song is so good

  21. S.... J....

    lizzy were the REAL deal

  22. S.... J....

    lizzy were the REAL deal

  23. S.... A....

Time can cast a spell over some things, and you can't go back again. Miss you philo.x

  24. h.... ....

Been listening to this magic ever since I was in the carseat of my dad's old Honda Accord. 15 or so years later (20 years old now), it still hits me like when I first heard it. I was born in the wrong generation :-/

  25. M.... M....

Phil was my favorite musical storyteller. He could make me wanna fight, fall in love, laugh, cry,in the span of one album.

  26. P.... X....

Lynott Loved Texas and the old West in America !!

    F.... ....

    Forkishjid Amen! 👍

  33. S.... M....

  34. M.... L....

I,m from Texas and I,m Irish and a bunch of other stuff but i always felt Phil spoke for me ,not prejudice against anybody ,feeling the pain we all feel.

  35. D.... v....

irish rockstar rest in howth heavens

  36. p.... ....

  37. H.... P....

What a song! Power and melody and lyrics you will never forget..

  38. a.... ....

Badass Thin Lizzy hitting damn feelings once again

  39. J.... C....

Gran banda, mucho sentimiento, talento desbordado. Sublimes

  40. T.... B....

in my opinion this is just Phil sitting in a dressing room after a show alone and writing this song with a glass of whiskey and crying and this is just his soul pouring out

    T.... B....

Actually I think Robbo wrote that one.

  41. I.... C....

    phil lynott!!!

  42. C.... J....

borderline hit's my soul very stong lyriks jonnyfox and chinatown makes you mmmmmm rember

  46. B.... M....

Phil was the real cowboy. Bon Jovi couldn't even plug in to his amp

    B.... M....

Brian Matheney and many others besides!

    B.... M....

    Bon Jovi is a homo.

    B.... M....

@Ian Porter John Bongiovi (his real lame ass name) is a well known douche who makes music for douchebags. Phil is a fucking legend who makes music for cool people.

    B.... M....

Bon Jovi covers songs by Lizzy and pose with the statue of Phil, they are obvious fans so why all the hate?

  47. J.... R....

Nothin but guitars, drums and a great voice...Thin Lizzy was the best band ever..(my opinion...)

    J.... R....

Of course....Phil was a wonderful and very talented Bass player...

    J.... R....

Best band ever..saw them on TV 78 and keep listening to them every day

    J.... R....

This band have been one of my vicious. Lynnot was and is a great poet, everything in this music and in Thin Lizzy is perfect. Very pretty song.🇧🇷

  52. T.... L....

Seven beers and still sober, it's time to change to something stronger.

    T.... L....

    My favorite line

  53. B.... C....

    MASTERPIECE

  54. M.... C....

Another classic song by Thin Lizzie. I must be honest, I'm 38 and until about a few months ago I only knew 2 or 3 songs by them. Now I'm amazed at how under appreciated they were. Probably the most underrated classic rock band of all time. So many beautiful songs with such authentic emotion. Rock on Phil!

    M.... C....

I saw them two times in Stockholm (Sweden) during the early 80's, they blew any band away on the stage… I also saw many other bigger bands around that period; like Rainbow, Boston, Police, Tom Petty, etc (not bad bands/artists at all!). Thin Lizzy had a great rocking "stage persona" as a band with Phil Lynott fronting them of course! They really rocked on stage! The live album "Live and Dangerous" really captures that too. The thing is, they also had many songs through out the whole spectra of the rock music genre... That could however have served them a bit bad when it comes to growing a huge fan base, when sort of "switching between softer to harder rock", like they did… But there's also another reason they might have become less known to the global public and that's the big USA tour in the late 70's that was almost (or was?) cancelled because of the guitarist Brian Robertson, when he severly hurt his hand in a bar fight and just some day before the tour was to begin… Probably hurt the band a lot too... Phil was a great lyricist! He plays with rhyming words in a very nice, fun & intelligent way, also has a great, (deep?) voice that goes well with the music! Also has his own way of vocal phrasing! Really good song writer and great bass-/guitar player too! Just listen to his solo album "Solo in Soho". And it's spelled "Lizzy" ;)

  55. L.... P....

My brother sang Thin Lizzy- Borderline. Check it out on my channel.

    L.... P....

Lauren Parkinson Where is it ?

  56. z.... ....

  58. M.... S....

Seven beers and still sober! know what that about! love lizzy

    M.... S....

    absolutely

  59. M.... S....

One more time....love ya Phil RIP

  60. D.... M....

A little-known fact is that Brian Robertson wrote almost all of this song. Philo helped him out on the lyrics, but the idea was Robbo's.

    D.... M....

+Dimitri Mitrovic I can well believe it, Robo is a piss head no?

    D.... M....

    Robbo is the coolest

    D.... M....

It was NOT Robertson, your talking about Silver dollar. Stop talking this filth

    D.... M....

hey STOOPID- read this and tell me why it's necessary to accuse someone of talking 'filth'

Thin Lizzy - Borderline (Lynott, Robertson) .....THOSE are the credits.....

    D.... M....

Dimitri Mitrovic That is true! I just read the book about T.L.

  61. W.... T....

i love jimi and all but i think phil is better by a landslide. im from the states and most people just consider TL to be a two hit wonder here but there so much more than that. rest easy phil you were obviously too good for this world.

    W.... T....

There are so many songs of this band that is great. Band's discography is very consistent. Most of the people just listen to radios songs, it is necessary search another songs, because always there are good tunes that have never played in radio stations.
My english is still in progress, greetings from🇧🇷

    W.... T....

    @Kathy Stover https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBNMGYYeIUY
Phil Lynott Nineteen + interview at NRK tv (1985)

    W.... T....

In my opinion it is like comparing apples to oranges. Jimi was a marvelous musician who died way too young and the same thing can be said about Phil. I myself, prefer Phil Lynott, who was, in mho, the best frontman who ever existed!! I can't think of a single band that I like better than Thin Lizzy

    W.... T....

@Tobbe Häggberg I am so sorry that you were talked to like that. It seems like that's all some people have to do, I guess it makes them feel better about themselves to put other people down.

    W.... T....

    most people my ass

  62. M.... ....

just found my dad's Johnny the fox record, this song skips quite a bit but still cuts right through ya... live long Philo

    M.... ....

+MsCookieJay Simply amazing Band, Your Dad had good taste xxx

  63. C.... P....

    Ich liebe diesen Song!

  64. J.... ....

If another idiot says this man looks like Jimi Hendrix I am gonna blow a fuse.
Phil looked nothing like Jimi so stop racial stereotyping

    J.... ....

Well, they did look alike. It's not racial stereotyping at all. Plus, Phil based his look and vocal style off of Hendrix early in his career. Hendrix was a huge inspiration for Lynott.

  65. J.... D....

Those lyrics hit the heart dead-center.

  66. M.... S....

On the borderline again. Time i was Southbound .

  67. A.... R....

Ah uh oh hi lo fa nu gru pulp

  68. T.... W....

Probably my fav track off this album

  69. N.... L....

led zeppelin?? no need for them.

    N.... L....

Thin Lizzy could stand up to anyone from any era. What a band they were!

    N.... L....

NLeslie's comment +1. Lynott & Lizzy would've blown Zep off the frickin' stage.
LZ's manager would've NEVER allowed Thin Lizzy on the same concert bill - gotta protect the franchise dontcha know.

    N.... L....

Right there. Queen, to their credit, had the balls to take Lizzy as chief support on their '77 US tour...they needed an additional 5,000 or so tickets sold and Lizzy were the band to secure that. Only problem was they had to follow a blistering 45-minute set every night! Not many top acts of the day fancied doing shows with Thin Lizzy after that

    N.... L....

@heavenhelp1982 Queen? Not a fan (tho a buddy got me to buy his ticket off him
Hey we all make mistakes This was after their debut disc way back when Had a cool track but that was all i knew of 'em) Still kudos to Queen for giving TL the work.

    N.... L....

Yeah, I feel Queen were pretty good in the 70s, much more rock-oriented. The 80s brought the worst out of them and they ultimately went in a pop-rock direction...but as a live band? Word is they were pretty good (although I never saw them during Freddie's lifetime). I liked their Live Killers album

  70. T.... C....

    Truly a jam

  71. J.... S....

I've been passively supporting/praising this band for the past decade; however, l didn't KNOW the depth of greatness they really were/are. How disingenuous could l have been? ? Oh well, .. These guys are magnificent.

    J.... S....

Man, you look like Jimi Hendrix

  72. j.... k....

i so love this tune, but then again i love all lizzy tunes..Remembering you phillip

  73. G.... W....

this song had so mutch potential wonder why he didn't play it live

    G.... W....

Fair question I think PL and his band in concert just wanted to rock. Up tempo
feel good - And LOUD - rock & roll.  Kinda like Humble Pie. Some beautiful ballads on their studio stuff but live ... tear it up leave the fans wanting more & split!

    G.... W....

There is a black and white live video version of Phill playing this live for tv program it used be on YouTube but got taken down and now just a live version here is the link....

  79. t.... ....

    musica con esfuerzo y dedicacion!!!

  80. J.... W....

    Terrific song!

  81. s.... ....

Back to comment again on the fortitude of Lizzy;s ability to ROCK w the best... I like many others growing up in the states have been deprived of all these deeper cuts while growing up in the 80's and 90;s and relying on FM radio. While The boys are back and jailbreak are sure fire smash rock jamz the further I've traveled down the Lizzy rabbit hole the more I say these dudes can easily stand up to the rock n roll giants namely Zepplin,The Who, Hendrix etc. Not sure why there is no love for these boys  in the Rock HOF but maybe just another example of it ain't what u know it's who u know. Respect Fellas

  82. G.... ....

Goosebumps. Listening to this today, of all days, just a great song.

  83. W.... ....

@Karen Timlin This is one great band and one hell of a song. Love the lyrics.
