They Might Be Giants - Thermostat Lyrics
When the hands that operate the motor lose control of the lever
When the mind of its own in the wheel puts two and two together
When the indicator says you're out of oil should you continue driving anyway?
There's a thermostat that regulates the temperature
That might not be reliable
Turn it up, turn it down
Turn it up when the cold brings you down
When the heat bothers you turn it down
Turn it up, turn it down
As I was just saying
As I was just saying
As I was just telling you a minute ago
Or was it a loud explosion?
Or is the thermostat engulfed in flames
Or is it just me?
Turn it up, turn it down
Turn it up when the cold brings you down
When the heat bothers you turn it down
Turn it up, turn it down
As I was just saying
As I was just saying
As I was just saying
Turn it up, turn it down
Turn it up when the cold brings you down
When the heat bothers you turn it down
Turn it up, turn it down
Turn it up, turn it down
Turn it up when the cold brings you down
When the heat bothers you turn it down
Turn it up, turn it down

2019? Anyone?
Ya know...this album has so many good song. Brilliant!
0:58 "As i was just telling you a minute ago"
third favorite song right behind Sleeping in the Flowers and Meet James Ensor!!

I have a couple co-workers who don't seem to understand that those little boxes on the wall control the temperature - I've sung this chorus to them so many times. And received _so_ many baffled looks in response.
DustWarden I more so key in on the automotive side of the song. Back in the day if there was a problem with your car removing the thermostat disk in the radiator temporarily fixed your car.
This song is a metaphor for using heroin I'm sure if you think about it.
My favorite TMBG song. I think I blame my love of a good brass section for that.
You meant "THANK my love of a good brass section," right? ;)
Lucky to hear TMBG play this at their 1st ever appearance @ The Music Farm in '94 on the John Henry Tour, the only time I ever heard it performed live.
i like how they rhyme "down" with down, down, and down. lol just kidding this is an incredible song and i keep coming back to it because it sticks with me
This song is just amazing, tmbg is the best band ever
LordOfDiscordia how does the entire world not know that they are one of the best bands ever?
One of my favorites. About 1/2 a step away from ska.
This song has a "grunge" feel to it
Best song from the best album by the best band ever.
I love this song.
