THANK YOU SO MUCH i havent heard this stuff since i was actually dialing the number
This is my first time hearing a clean version of I Might Be Giant Too - I'd only heard the live recording before. It's so crazy to me no one has ever taken credit for it; it's such a great tune!
And it's not even TMBG. No one knows who recorded it. It was just sent to them by a fan.
Very interesting, and it shows a lot of the process of the band. For example "I Need Some Lovin;" has the middle instrumental interruption of "Lie Still, Little Bottle." It also sounds like the first song that had Robin Goldwasser on it.
That version of "Oh, Do Not Forsake Me," sounds a bit different than the one that I heard on Dial-a-song back in the day.
The song "I Palindrome I" is a different song with the same title. I taped this years ago and was surprised when the song with this title came out on Apollo 18. See the Constellation also had a different melody, but the same lyrics.
"I Palindrome I" was originally written by John Flansburgh but he wasn't satisfied with how it turned out so he gave the song to John Linnell who completely rewrote it into the version on Apollo 18.
I like the "power of a dial-a-song" song.
well here.. The legendary Power Of Dial-A-Song bootleg was first released in 1994. Its name refers to the first track on the bootleg, "The Power Of They Might Be Giants' Dial-A-Song". It features many recordings from Dial-A-Song, including demos and rough songs, as well as some still-unreleased tracks. A sequel was released a few years later, Power Of Dial-A-Song II: More Power To You.
this is cool! what year? what's the story on it? It's like a Sebadoh reject or lost Daniel Johnston ** found a note:

This concept is way better than mailing your demo tape to a label that won't listen to it anyway.
It's like a midi version of TMBG
I must download these albums.... but where??
olias ben el same I want to download these!
you could convert the video and break up the audio file (or not) maybe?
Alfie P yeah I should try that. Idk I'd rather have it already broken up.
Try the website muesuem of idiots. It has a lot of rare TMBG stuff including both Power Of Dial a Songs
Fascinating. There appears to be some similarity between early TMBG and early DEVO.
and a band called Sparks, which was there before the both of them.
Early TMBG sounds almost like a lighter, poppier Ween.
I agree and love them both!
wow the demos are really different to the actuall songs at least most of them
Thank you so much for putting this up!! I love the Purple Toupee demo and it's stuck in my head (I'm ok with that though).
I know things must change, but I sure love early TMBG. Funniest music ever made.
I'm so sad there's no other recordings of Mrs. Cinderella. :;(
Do you have the second one?
I'm uploading it right now.
@supernintendo64 Way cool, dude!
@Moony Moon It's up.
