This song is pretty deep. Is it for anyone else? I may be reading too much into it, but it sounds like a metaphor for hypocrisy.

I am super interested in this as well. It reminds me of the impossible-to-understand book Finnegans Wake, being about the cyclical nature of things.

The Johns have been known to write lyrics that are very open to interpretation. This song was written with the sole purpose of seeing how long of a palindrome they could make, so I don't think there's anything too deep about it, but then again........

I think they had one (an HFSestival) recently (last year?) since HFS reconstituted on the Internet. Station went off the air on the radio a while ago and 99.1 band was used by a country station. Actually I think they're back on the dial somewhere again now as a Baltimore station now for about a year. But I live too far away to get it now though I think you can still get a feed on the Internet. They don't seem quite as edgy as they used to be but maybe that's because what's mainstream now wasn't then.

This is the song that got me hooked on TMBG, for over a decade now. I first heard them on Tiny Tunes with Istanbul and Particle Man. This was the first album I bought, and the second I heard this song, I knew they were to be my favorite for long to come. Best song on the album IMO. All you fellow TMBG-lovers, you are awesome!

Actually, the lyrics make sense and emulate sort of conceptual palindromes. But the line "Egad, a base tone denotes a bad age" is a palindrome and the bridge is a word-unit palindrome.

So it's a song with lyrics as nonsensical as most palindromes...but it's not in palindrome? I must be missing something.
