Therapy? - Panic Lyrics

Another government off the hook
Another program off the books
Pass the buck
And leave us fucked
Distant and helpless
Story of our lives
White collar crime

Another government off the hook
Lamb-like slaughter
Adrenaline makes it taste better
Pass the buck
And leave us fucked
Distant and helpless
Story of our lives

Panic! Panic! Panic! Panic!
White collar crime

This is progress
Don't look down
Pass the buck
And leave us fucked
Distant and helpless
Story of our lives

Panic! Panic! Panic! Panic!
White collar crime

My panic attacks usually happen when I’m left alone. I hate not being around someone i love. Like my mom, sister, or boyfriend. I have to be around them or at some point I’m going to have a panic attack.

  12. H.... G....

What the hell?! If my panic attacks only lasted a few minutes i wouldn't even be here. Try 16 exhausting hours. Useless.

OMG, i just walked outside in the dark on my own! just for 3 minutes but i did it!

    s.... l....

Well done. We hope you found this video helpful :)

  19. s.... l....

I get panic attacks when im asleep which wake me up. When this happens i cant be reasoned with and think im going to die. i have called the emergencies now twice and it seems like i have no control because they occur when im asleep. Im going to practise what you ask and see how i go. Thank you !

  20. B.... ....

    thank you for the advice

  21. A.... m....

The exposure thing doesnt work for me. I have had major (unexpected panic) since being assaulted 2 years ago., its got worse and worse. I used to support various NGO's and now I find I cannot watch some of their videos anymore, as it will bring one on, and things that never used to bother me now do. I know what I have seen from Burundi would in fact bother many people, but I used to handle it. Recently I witnessed something i dont even want to go into too much here, but involving decapitation amongst other bodily destruction of certain people - and I honestly wish I had never seen that, as now I cannot "un-see" it, and I dont really fancy watching it again, and never ever see myself as becoming "desensitised " to it. And in fact, I would find it worrying if people were not sensitive to it (even though I used to be less so). I have a major fear of being sick, not done it over 25 years now, and to be frank id rather die its that bad :( Otherwise I would induce all the other panic symptoms and push through, but not while I still have this stupid "v" phobia, :(

  22. R.... L....

Thank you for trying to help. I feel more positive!☺️

    R.... L....

We are pleased you found this video helpful

  23. h.... m....

What the hell is wrong with you? You can't have someone who is sensitized do that breathing technique at 14:25 You just threw me into a major panic attack doing that!!

  24. J.... T....

Go figure! I'm an Uber and Lyft driver and I have somehow developed a fear of driving. Now I'm having to make myself get out a drive for a few minutes.

  25. J.... L....

I relate to this so much, I have been suffering with GAD for 2 years now. If anyone is interested or needs some help, on my YouTube channel I talk about anxiety, generalised anxiety, depression, insomnia and many other relatable topics. I would love some feedback and would definitely love to help anyone out. Thank you.

  26. S.... C....

This really helped, thank you :)

Depends on the type of panic.
I suffer with PTSD so it can go on for hours daily for years. Only EMDR therapy has been helpful. CBT is useless.

Can you explain what heat palpitations feel like? As my palpitations
have missed beets and heart flutters 20 to 30 times a day Evert day. I'm
told this is natural and that they are harmless yet they give me an
instant response to all parts of my body. Please help me to under stand
that this in normal, please. Desperate! I know this is a late question
(2018) but a response may be helpful. This has been going on for over 30

You wanna bet anxiety/panic can't stay high for long period? Lolol
10/10 panic attack, 10-30 min. 8/10 anxiety for 15 min, back to 10/10 panic attack. Cycle continued every single day for over a year.
Sadly most of these don't help me as I don't fear I'll die or faint. Wake up 156 heart rate every single day.

  36. P.... O....

Very well explained. +1 and THANK YOU so much I can't explain.

  63. B.... B....

This doesn't apply to me. I don't ever worry something physical will happen. I'm focused on not coping with a problem outside of my control...what someone else is doing and saying that is hard to cope with. Fear of situation.

  64. D.... H....

Thank you so much for this video. It's really been helpful for me.

I don't understand how doing nothing when the flood of adrenaline comes will help, it only exacerbates the moments like being a deer caught in the headlights, paralysis is not a solution.

  68. m.... b....

Thank you for this video, it calmed me down

  69. T.... R....

these days im having BP spikes my bp suddenly goes upto 200/110 in panic but it comes down after taking anti anxiolyitics. i feel heart racing/pounding shortness in breathing, numbness and i lose control and always have to rum ER.

  70. T.... R....

im going through severe anxiety and panic disorder more than 5 years and i haa become worse with time. Now i always have fear of fears. i hv left the job and i always remain at home with all the tools and medicines i.e. antidepressants, antianxiolitics, bp medicines, bp oprates and alot mire. i have consulted with many GP, Cordiologists, physcartits. butmy condition is going worst. i feel like my life is ended up, as i hv always fear of dying, fear of the why i hv such problem which us not gonna solve yet. as i did everything which was possible, now im on zoloft 50 mg and take trincoliers to sleep also take antianxiolytics all the day. plz help me

  71. F.... ....

    question:
everything you said hit the nail on head for me until the "don't try to do something to make panic stop, symptoms go away in 5-15 minutes on their own if just sit with them".

The first attack that set off what i consider the beginning of my panic disorder lasted 4 hours.
the two following it were a couple hours. the feeling of unreality and disconnect was unbearable. it was like i was on drugs.

The only reason they are anything less than a half hour now is because i "do stuff to make them stop". i HAVE to get up and leave the area the panic started in, breathe deeply, i immediately get outside and go for walk, and start listening to or reading something to distract my brain, always starting with a video or blog about panic attacks to confirm for myself that its not real, and because its less scary and isolating when i see others with same experience. Then i can watch and read other things unrelated. i have to stay outside though.

I can tell when I am ready to go back by how I'm feeling. If I don't do these things, or I cut this ritual short and try to go back too soon and just blow it off like "hey the symptoms will go away on their own I'm ok ", they come-back with a vengeance and I will have a waves of several panic attacks that will last for hours.

so in this case am i still doing the wrong thing by getting up and doing things to make it stop? And if so, I'm not sure what the alternative is because I can't handle several hour long the panic attacks.

  72. S.... V....

    Expert!!

  73. R.... N....

I like Doc Becky's diction, demeanor, poise, voice and energy. Calming

    long neck lol

  76. m.... ....

so I started having terrible anxiety when I was 15 after having trying mushrooms, I had a panic attack for the first time when I took the shrooms and then it started terrible anxiety for months so then I went on lexapro, and slowly they went away. I stopped taking lexapro after a year I'm now 27 and have been completely fine since ,except for what I would consider minor anxiety here and there, but about 5 months ago I went on welbutrin to quit smoking and I started getting radom anxiety attacks I stopped the medicine and I still am getting terrible anxiety I feel out of it ,worried all the time it's disrupting my life

    m.... ....

i thought my anxiety was gone i feel like im to old for this shit,i feel like im going crazy,

  77. P.... ....

Dr Becky Spelman, you said with the right practitioner it can be treated and overcome in a short amount of time. How do i locate that practitioner, what shall i be looking for?

  78. Z.... Z....

And i love that you guys do real world work by the way

  79. Z.... Z....

Also focusing outward is a good stategy but what about people with derealization or depersonilization i struggle with depersonilization daily but its at an all time high during a panic attack so focusing outward provokes me more anxietyso my only defense mechanism is to close my eyes and hold on for dear life

  80. Z.... Z....

Thats the hardest part, to be able to change those thoughts i found its a lot easier to change the negative thoughts by learning how to not care as much about dying i found it eased the anxiety during a panic attack a bit enough to be able to try and think straight in order to swap those negative thoughts with positive

  81. D.... K....

Thank you so much!!! I'm actually a psychologist who suffers from panic disorder and mixed depression and as a clinician am always looking for interventions that work. Unfortunately, I've fallen victim to avoidance by cancelling appointments or skipping dinner but I am determined lately due to the severity of the panic and how it has negatively impacted my life. I can't wait to start practicing my exposure and thought restructuring right away!!! thank you, thank you, thank you!!

  82. M.... M....

Yes, these techniques bring relief, but if you stop there you haven't treated the source of the anxiety. It's then likely to cause other symptoms that are more difficult to treat, such as weird autoimmune illnesses that few doctors will know are caused by the same problem that the anxiety was an attempt to solve.

Anxiety is rarely a disorder, instead it's a sensible instinctive response to growing up in danger. Pia Mellody was already explaining this 25 years ago. Look her up, and on my channel there's the example of what was causing my resistant anxiety, plus more useful information.

    M.... M....

Also, the visible symptoms of anxiety are only a small part of it. by stopping at the symptoms, you’re not getting the huge increase in clarity of mind that can result when a person’s attention is no longer busy being anxious. I know this from personal experience, reducing my anxiety by healing the roots of it has allowed me to get a whole new perspective on life and on what I want from it, it helped me switch to doing work I couldn’t imagine how to do, it helped me improve my relationships, it’s just fantastic. Wouldn’t you love to get the same? It’s possible, and the anxiety is showing the way towards achieving this, so let’s not just erase it!

  83. W.... O....

Great explanation I have a question so if I feel I'm about to get panic attack which in my case I get the panic from just thoughts feeling like I'm gonna go crazy. Can I just do the exercise that simulates the panic attack or just let the anxiety attack run it course?

  84. T.... S....

Exposure therapy seems risky for treating driving panic attacks, especially on freeways where many experience it the most. Anxious drivers may be more attentive but acute panic symptoms eclipse that small benefit during an attack.

  85. f.... s....

I've had a panic disorder for more than twenty years. It has stopped me from traveling, going out with friends, basically robbed me of the soul and spirit I once had. it has gotten the best of me and I'm so tired of losing friends and relationships because of it.

  96. d.... ....

Thanks a million for posting this. I had a full blown anxiety attack for the first time a few weeks ago. I thought I was dying. I passed out twice and was taken by ambulance to the hospital because the people around me thought I was having a heart attack or some other unknown medical problem. I had a second one just today (not anywhere near that bad) and the information in this video has helped me a lot already.

  97. G.... G....

it doesn't last a moment with me, more about half an hour to an hour...

  98. S.... C....

    Dear Doctor,
Thank you very much for the awesome advice and treatment methods. I am Sheshraj from Nepal. Currently, I am staying in Adana, Turkey as a student to study Mechanical Engineering. I came here on oct19, 2016. I am 21 years old. I had my first panic attack when I was 17 during my grade 10 final exam. After coming to Turkey, I got panic attack twice. In my first panic attack, I was quivering with a fast heartbeat but in my second panic attack, I could not breath too. I went to the hospital and they told me to visit the psychiatrist. I visited my psychiatrist yesterday but we could not have proper communication because of the language problem. She told me there are two methods to treat, psychotherapy and medicines. Since I might have language problem, she prescribed me anti-depression tablets. I bought the medicines and came to dormitory, watched your video and decided not to take medicine. Instead I am ready to fight with it, tolerate it, induce it and get used to it. Please suggest me whether I should take medicines or not. I personally do not like medicines. And I don't smoke, nor drink alcohol or tea/coffee. Thank you very much.
    Yours sincerely,
    Sheshraj Chaudhary
