I think it's odd how music can come at some point in your life that seems to correlate your own issues with what is being sung about. That is this song for me for sure.

Why is everyone saying they want the old style back, youve only heard one or two songs from the new album so far give it a chance. The old sound was great but remember the original stone temple pilots made every album have its own unique sound, it avoided repetition in sound and added more heart to it. It seems that theory is very similar, you can almost tell what album a song belongs to just by its sound.

The more I listen to this song it's become my favorite. I like it better than Strangers and even History of Violence. I like the melody, and the sentiment.
Like all your songs, the music theory matches your lyrics. Your use of syncopation, chord resolution (or not resolving in History of Violence), or just a dead rest at the perfect time, it provides a subtext for the lyrics you've written. I'm glad I have enough knowledge of music theory and training to recognize it because I think it's totally unintentional. Or, if it is intentional, it shows how much effort you put into composition.
I think the whiners ("I miss the old TOAD") don't have the ability to recognize the true growth and evolution your new sound displays.
And I don't think a band member will even see this since they don't seem to need affirmation from the comments section of YouTube or any other social media. You're always great in concert and I will continue to travel to see you when you don't make it to my neck of the woods. I also like your ever changing touring schedule--it's like you're trying to visit different cities each tour. You keep your venues small and personal and your ticket prices low. If you were selling out, you would go for larger venues and hike your prices. Your VIP packages have been the same price since I began following you, too.

Anyone who says this bands gone and not the same let's be clear if these guys made newer songs that was like their old stuff it would sound too similar then y'all would complain on it sounding "too similar" that's y these guys went the direction they went just to bring something new to the table so that they don't sound the same hell I wouldn't want to listen to a song that sounds too similar to Bad Girlfriend or something too similar to No Surprise hell I like where their going so then it's not too similar to older works would it be the best no necessarily no but it does bring new variety instead of sounding the same like it or not these guys aren't gone they just bring new music to the table and that's a fact me personally I like the direction they are going as well as cherishing the old stuff the different variety is good for a band and I'm alright with someone not liking it that's their opinion but this band hasn't fallen off they just went to a new direction that some people just don't like which is understandable👍

I think thats the reason for the new stuff, to continue the unique feel of each song. Stone temple pilots used to give every album its own kind of feel and style, I think thats what theorh is doing change the style a little each time to convey a new mood and keep the songs coming from the heart.
