The-Dream - Silly Lyrics

Silly of me to think that I could ever have you for my guy
How I love you... how I want you...
Silly of me to think that you could ever really want me too
How I love you...

You're just a lover out to score
I know that I should be looking for more
What could it be in you I see
What could it be...
Oh, love, oh, love, stop making a fool of me
Oh, love, oh, love, stop making a fool of me

Silly of me to think that you could ever know the things I do
Are all done for you... only for you
Silly of me to take the time to comb my hair and pour the wine
And know you're not there

You're just a lover out to score
I know that I should be looking for more
What could it be in you I see
What could it be...
Oh, love, oh, love, stop making a fool of me
Oh, love, oh, love, stop making a fool of me

Ooh

Silly of me to go around and brag about the love I found
And say you're the best, well, I can't tell the rest
Foolish of me to tell them all that every night and day you call
When you could care less

You're just a lover out to score
I know that I should be looking for more
What could it be in you I see
What could it be...
Oh, love, oh, love, stop making a fool of me
Oh, love, oh, love, stop making a fool of me

She sang this with the right emotion u know she been through this exact experience. This should of blown up, the dream one of my favorite artist ever but he could of made history with her like r Kelly did with aaliyah.. that's how good this is. Should of made a whole album! Sometimes u have to extend your talent to to show another their full potential. I'm just glad we got this joint and one of the greatest mixtapez/albums : Terius Nash = 1977. Classic!!!!

The reason this song or album never blew up because it wasn't a mixtape but it was a free (this is extremely important) studio album released in response to IV Play being delayed over and over. This was right around the time that record labels doing everything not to relinquish their stranglehold over artists.

Music was at its peak of being illegally downloaded and songs of all genres was becoming more accessible, but more specifically people's Hip-Hop and R&B music libraries were filling up. People were becoming extremely impatient with many major artists releasing music only once every few years because there was so much more music available.

This is when the mixtape game was on fire, every artist had a label, every single one. Most couldn't profit off of their music because of extremely binding contracts and even completed albums were missing deadlines. So artists started dropping mixtapes to keep their fans satisfied until their awaited album was released.

This is the same time where Wayne was getting so much shit and it became a running joke that C4 would never be released because it constantly got pushed back. He dropped Sorry 4 The Wait in response to his fans outcry for his music. Dream dropped this free album for the same reason Wayne did, just a couple months later. The difference between why everyone has heard S4TW and not 1977 because of course it's Wayne and he's going to catch traction regardless. Wayne's fans were so insanely hungry that everyone was listening to S4TW and didn't even realize it was a mixtape.

During this time, free music had ZERO marketing so most people who came across some of the best mixtapes or gems within free albums were mostly music-heads. If I remember correctly I came across this on the front page of Datpiff like 2 days after it dropped. Never heard or saw it ever again unless I specifically searched for it.
