Teng, Vienna - Watershed Lyrics

While you were building your empires
I was still sleeping
I was still sleeping
While you were setting your woods afire
I was still dreaming
I was still dreaming

Now I will unsettle the ground beneath you
Send my waters ashore
Creep into your bed
Find you in every corner

While you argue it over
I am not waiting
I am not waiting
While you retreat to your comforts
I am not fading
I am not fading

I've done this many times before you
Old Shanghai
New Orleans
Amsterdam and Mumbai
Strange new creatures
To scavenge your pores
Oh I've done this many times before you
Ashen sky
Lightning storms
Deltas to desert plains
Wartime on every border

I've done this many times before you
Watched the pattern take form
Children your time is done
If you say it's done together

Teng, Vienna Watershed Comments
  1. A.... T....

It reminds me of gaia from pjo

  2. C.... B....

I will always be thankful of the drunken night, I stumbled across possibly the most exciting songwriter I have ever encountered

  3. C.... B....

On the eve of Irma my mind turned back to this song

  4. S.... A....

One of my favorite songs, which is strange to people I know cause I normally listen to hard rock and creepy stuff that makes them question my sanity. XP

  5. p.... ....

    Radio Paradise...

  6. b.... s....

I love this song, I think one of her greatest strengths is in the socially conscious aspects of her songs and she puts so much passion in that it moves me to tears sometimes.  Along those lines, I also want so badly for her to release or perform live a cover of "Breathing" by Kate Bush, I think that would be incredible.

    @boudicca storm i agreem

    b.... s....

+boudicca storm Based on Vienna's background, it makes total sense she would cover that song!

  7. K.... ....

It's also surpringly close to what the actual Gaia of greek mythology was like, not very cuddly and motherly at all, and a significantly more faithful depiction of the unforgiving ravages of nature, where big fish eat small fish.

  8. K.... ....

Now, that particular album was the last place I expected to find this supreme little piece of horror.

It's probably intended to be some "Gaia's Vengance" scenario, but it would also suit Cthulhu surprisingly well...

    K.... ....

    @KendrixTermina too true!

  9. L.... ....

reminds me of Princess Mononoke for some reason

  10. O.... ....

That time has come. It has already begun.

  11. O.... ....

I don't think this is mysterious at all. It has been abundantly clear for decades now that we are fast approaching our well deserved shit kicking. What is mysterious is that we are so adept at hiding our heads in the sand, " retreating to our comforts" while we betray the futures of our children and every living organism on earth by our sloth greed political cowardice and self absorbed feeding frenzy until the system that we are all part of sees us as a plague to be corrected.

  12. F.... ....

while listening to this i get goosebumps u v u

  13. b.... ....

    Wow. You're right.

  14. D.... ....

This song is epic. Especially if you play it over storm sounds.

  15. S.... ....

I love this song. The vague creepiness is amazing. Such a powerful song and such a gorgeous voice.

  16. z.... ....

And to thnk that some only pay attention to pop music, there's room for both in my ❤

  17. t.... d....

  18. t.... ....

    These comments are so poetic.
    I don't know if I can compete...um...um...

  19. B.... B....

God. This song is just... wow. This woman and her voice never cease to amaze me. Whether or not she writes all the lyrics, I don't know, but she certainly gives them amazing quality.

  20. A.... J....

This should be hurricane irene's theme song.

  21. A.... L....

    Bone-chillingly beautiful.

  22. S.... Z....

I think I'm in love... >.> this song is amazing

  23. S.... S....

This song hits home to me. The feeling of waiting, resting just oassing time while someone does everything, but not what you had hoped and leaving. Yup. There's my life in a nutshell. Only part of why I love Vienna!

  24. i.... ....

Captain Planet, he's our hero, gonna turn pollution back to zero!!

  25. q.... ....

@EpicFailHat To me, it's about nature sitting back and watching humans destroy themselves over and over again. But, of course, nature will outlast us all.

  26. q.... ....

one of my favorites of hers.

  27. M.... P....

anybody else hear Teardrop by Massive Attack whenever they listen to this?

Awesome, awesome song though - no denying!

  30. P.... ....

@MellindaK65 indeed, it would be awesome

  31. P.... ....

@AlaenorSkybird I agree! This song is really ominous. It's almost scary, for pete's sake! Haha! Good stuff though. :)
