Temptations, The - What's So Good About Good-Bye Lyrics

What's so good about goodbye
All it does is make you cry
Well if leavin' causes grief
Goodbye can break your heart

Tell me what's so good about goodbye
I could have done without it
Won't somebody tell me now
How can goodbye be good to a lover who really cares

And another thing I would like to clarify
Is how can farewell be fair
I could have done without it
Ah, you and I could never say this is goodbye
Girl, well it makes me so sad
Until it's got to be bad

Tell me what's so good about goodbye
I could have done without it
What's so good about goodbye
Baby, baby what's so good about goodbye
You said goodbye to me
All I've known is misery
But if everything goes wrong lovers stay so long

Tell me what's so good about goodbye
I could have done without it
Won't somebody tell me now
How can goodbye be good to a lover who really cares
And another thing I would like to clarify
Is how can farewell be fair
I could have done without it

Love the original, but this was nice, nice, nice!!!! Eddie is always on the mark. And that backing harmony was so tight. I'm note sure if that was David or Otis doing that high tenor, but it was kicking also all on its own. Way to go, guys.

    R.... A....

I say it's Otis, doing the killer falsetto !

  3. j.... c....

Smokey, songs easy to learn to sing. Plain and simple.

  4. R.... B....

Smokey was very secure, especially for a twenty something year old, to let the amazing Eddie Kendricks sing songs that he knew would probably out shine his lead vocal perfor.ances. Eddie was simply out of this world as a vocal stylist. Smokey would tell uou that.

  5. R.... T....

Good ole days I was a teenager then

So grateful to have been born when MUSIC was GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Music has definitely changed. A good bit of the music that is created today is created by people who don't play an instruments. The beats, harmonies, chord patterns and sounds are generated by machines. Thus we end up with a quality of music that is far different from the days when musicians had to play the their instruments and there was no auto tune to make a bad singer sound passable. Today is an entirely different situation. You don't have to know to how to play an instrument and you don't have to have a good quality singing voice to have a hit record. Many of the top selling artist today are not good singers. Times have definitely changed.

+Willie Ellebie I thought I was the only person who knew that you are right on point

    D.... P....

Yes, bassman music has changed. This is a new era in music.

    D.... P....

A lot of music we hear today is made from little electronic boxes filled with samples. The only skills needed to make music with it is knowing what buttons to push, knobs to turn or what pads to strike. Here's an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJ4Cmi9ieDQ
Back in the day when I played nightclubs, our band would do what we called 'shedding' for weeks. Rehearsing everyday getting ready for those gigs. If you missed too many rehearsals, you were kicked out and replaced. It was a brutal and heartless system the way it operated, but it kept us from going out there unprepared.

THIS  IS  MY  BEST  SONG  OUT  OF  TEN  OF THE  EARLIER  SONGS   THAT  EDDIE  LEAD  ON.  _________ ''AWESOME.

  24. G.... D....

NOTHING  IS  GOOD  ABOUT  LEAVING   THE  MAN  YOU   LOVE!!!!!!!!   ESPECIALLY   WHEN  YOU  WANT  TO  REMAIN. '' YET  THE   CHOICE  IS  NOT  ALWAYS  YOURS.

  25. D.... P....

So many good memories listening to REAL music we grew up on. When I want to close out the bad in the world I go to my oldies. I know change has to come but seems 'less' was better.

  26. D.... P....

Yeah just like I wish it would rain , the man in up killing himself over his wife leaving him

  27. D.... P....

    I feel you my brother

    D.... P....

@shabazz akbar This song is probably based on a real life experience.

  28. D.... P....

I wish the temptations of today would sing these song like what's so good about goodbye and you can depend on me,or farewell my love, they have the singers for it, I love this album, they should do a tour doing these hits that we don't get a chance to see or hear them do,what about I want a love I can see done the original way

    D.... P....

@shabazz akbar Times have changed. This music is from a different era. It may not be commercially viable to release new product in this style, today. In my opinion, the best we can do is enjoy the oldies from the original Temptations going back fifty years. Their music is still popular after all these years.

  29. M.... A....
