Temptations, The - Now That You've Won Me Lyrics

Now that you've won me
I hope that you'll remember how
Don't you forget it (no, baby)
'Cause you know I love you now
Keep on being sweet and kind in the same old way
Keep on saying that you're mine, each and every day

Now that you've won me
Now that you've won me

Now that you've got me
I hope our heartaches don't begin
I hope my heart was not just a bet you had to win
Keep on kissing me day and night
Don't you ever change
Keep holding me tight, baby
Don't you dare start acting strange

Now that you've won me
Now that you've got me

I felt it quite a while ago, but I had to say "no"
I wouldn't admit it to myself
But I guess it's right that the truth comes to the light
I'll admit, this is it, baby
I'll admit, this is it

Now that I'm yours
I hope you keep me for you own
Don't misuse me and then leave me all alone
Keep on doing the things that you did when we first met
I hope you still remember them
I hope you don't forget

Now that you've won me
Now that I'm yours
Now that you've got me
Now that you've won me
Now that I'm yours

A Historical Conceptulization Of The TEMPTATIONS: PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE #1GROUP in each category. Phenomenal in the Past
    Perfection for the Present
Fantastic Foundational Impact on the Future. New artists pattern your music after the Temptations; you will be TEMPTINGLY 👍 GREAT. Music Styles have change but listen to David Ruffin, Eddie Kendrick and the rest of the background voices #1 is where you will be. These Singers/ their music will never fade away. CORA Hudson-Guice

  11. C.... G....

Airight David! Just can't beat you. I'm going to do all of it. Now That I Won You. Cora

  12. J.... E....

I would have loved to hear Paul Williams' soulful baritone voice on this one......

  13. G.... W....

Why am I crying listening to this song

    G.... W....

I dont know I do that on some of his songs! sometimes I know more about
the things that happened in his childhood!

  14. H.... W....

    Eddie ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Group Dynamics is BEYOND IMPORTANT. People are always trying to diminish one member to build up another when it came to a group. In order for THE TEMPTATIONS to have been as GREAT as they were this understanding of GROUP DYNAMICS was very successful for 6 years. OTIS WILLIAMS and MELVIN FRANKLIN were the AMBASSADORS of the GROUP. If OTIS did not have the ear of BERRY GORDY the GROUP would have been relegated to C status as the SPINNERS were. Remember it took years before they got a hit record. THANK the heavens that OTIS knew his worth to the GROUP. Also OTIS voice could harmonize with a camel. If you are a TRUE TEMPTS FAN you know how to listen to the background which in a lot of cases is as good as the BODY of the song. Yes I would have kissed BERRY GORDY'S butt to keep my no hit GROUP on the label. Everyone in each group is not cut out to be a lead singer. Look at the 4 tops and their success. BLACK GROUPS fail because no one ever explained GROUP DYNAMICS to them. Accept your ROLES.

  16. G.... W....

Wow My mind blown again ❤️💗💕 Those Temp

  17. M.... V....

    First class .

  18. C.... H....

RUFFIN +KENDRICK=PHENOMENAL! The best two VOICES GOD put in this 🌎 WORLD. JUST LISTEN!!!

  19. C.... H....

Who in the world could dislike this SONG? Well all I can say is they really don't have a ear for Music. David Ruffin polish this song and gave it a royal shine. The way he did with all of the ones he sang lead on. GO DAVID, YOU WERE THE BEST!!!! Love, Cora Hudson-Guice.

  20. A.... C....

Always great to come across a Temptations song I never heard before. Beautiful!!!!

  21. C.... R....

I'm sorry but Marvin Gaye couldn't hit notes like David Ruffin

  22. C.... H....

Sing it David! Hey everybody when a MAN can use his voice in any category and knock a home run he is a Singer! David could " SHOOT IT UP TO THE CEILING AND TENOR IT, DROP IT DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND BARITONE IT." He could lead and back- ground no matter where, he could hold his part. My father said David was the best. Believe me Daddy knew a Singer. He was a Singer. However their group The Shellman Gospel Singers didn't pursue a profession in entertainment. Daddy kept singing in every Church in our surrounding areas. We resided in the South. Now, I know you all can grasp and understand. I 💘 love all of the Temptations lead Singers: Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams, Dennis Edwards, matter of fact, I loved all of them. But you just couldn't surpass Mr. Ruffin. He was my ❤ HEART, still is, even though he has transition over to the other side.
    Cora Hudson - Guice

  23. E.... W....

I have been blessed to have seen all of the different groups of Temptations including the three tenors who took Eddie's place.

  24. C.... H....

Girlfriend I've heard Otis sing and he sounded like a grown MAN with a little boys voice. I am responding to a young lady about Otis Williams singing ability. Definitely not about David Ruffin, who could really sing! My favorite SINGER of all times and forever: DAVID RUFFIN. Cora Hudson

    C.... H....

Ms. Cora, You are not letting up on your Comments about The Temptations, keep them Coming. 🗣🎶🎵🎼🎤.

    C.... H....

Otis could not sing I know he misses Dave and the rest he admitted it but
he is the last man standing!

  25. F.... W....

One of the best ruffin cuts just listen all of it lady's Freddie dice Frankford

  26. H.... t....

I cant read music, but this doesnt listen well. It's too slow.

  27. R.... J....

Omg love this song....every since I was a teenager.

  28. S.... S....

  33. J.... G....

    ❤❤❤

  34. J.... G....

    yeeeowww yessss!!!

  35. L.... M....

you could always hear that great tenor of eddie whenever he sang in the lead or always in the background always stood out

    L.... M....

    Levan Moore Melvin also

    L.... M....

@Mwilu Okolo Correct ...there is WAY more Melvin than Eddie!

  36. M.... D....

to listen to the temptations the harmony the soul there will never be any group that can touch the temps

  37. R.... V....

Marvin Gaye had the original version of "Now that you won me " written by Smokey Robinson but I prefer the Temptations version with David Ruffin on lead!

  38. K.... W....

Each individual voice brought a different sound to the group which made them so great..RUffin unique, Eddie grace, Paul soul Melvin greatest base, Otis nice..I luv them all but Ruffin voice is undeniable

    K.... W....

Cora Hudson I know of other tunes he leads but hearing how much you're against him it would be pointless.the Mary Wilson detractors says the same thing about her.founder members of the world's most famous R/B groups cannot sing.Rubbish.

    K.... W....

Ann-Marie David sings A Precious Love Royally. I'm not against Otis Williams I love him, he is a Temptation, I love them all, but Otis didn't have a cablier of VOICE to lead any song. He knew what to do stay in the background. Ann-Marie I tell the truth. I've been a singer all my life. My entire family can sing we just lived in the South and my parents chose not to move North or sing professionally. I was a member of my high school chours at the age of 11. Otis simply had a weak voice but remember I love him too. Cora Guice
Have a Happy 2018 and talk to me some more

    K.... W....

Cora Hudson,You're contradicting your statement, you said he cannot lead and in another comment you said that you heard all his leads.the real talk is the voice Otis has he couldn't be the main lead vocalist for the Tempts, but as singer in the group sometimes a tune come around that suits his voice. Not because harmoniser don't go upfront they can't sing.did you know that all the 4 tops can sing lead,Levi Stubbs used to hand over the lead and it was rejected.

    K.... W....

Ann-Marie, I did not contradict myself. Otis couldn't sing lead nor was he a good background singer. I live by my knowledge base and Otis couldn't SING. He was a Temptation and I loved them but David Ruffin, Eddie Kendrick, Paul Williams carried Otis especially David. "Every House Has A Door" the LYRICS are cute, the background made the sound, but Otis destroyed the song; SORRY. The Tempts SHOO BOOPS are great. As far as the 4 Tops I hated them: Levi Stubbs: Sugar Pie Honey Bunch, oh LORD, HAVE MERCY. THE 4 TOPS REALLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN CALLED THE 4 BOTTOMS. HA HA HA
ANN-MARIE you are not going to convince me Otis Williams could sing. He can't even manifest that quest. Take Care Cora Hudson

    K.... W....

    Also, Don't Send Me Away

  39. d.... ....

Paul was more soulful, but David had the voice capabilities few could match.

    d.... ....

Listen to Paul sing 'Don't look back' on the
' Temptations Live' album or Paul sing 'For Once in My Life' live on one of their early TV specials back in the day. I used to like the songs on their album that Paul led like 'Who you gonna run to' and Lonely Lonely Man am I'. Everybody had their favorite Temp and Paul just happened to be mine. Plus I met both of them in my youth (Met Paul when me and some friends snuck in the side door of the Memorial Auditorium, back in the 60's and Met David at the Gemini 101 after he went solo, in the early 70's).
    Peace!

    d.... ....

Wow! You met Paul? My favorite Temp, too. He was a cool dude, and a tough dude, no doubt. What was that like. I saw David and Eddie, with Dennis Edwards. Did get to shake Eddie's hand.

    d.... ....

Like I've said before, comparing David and Paul is like comparing apples to oranges. Actually, comparing them is no different than comparing David with Eddie. You can have a favorite, granted, but it's all subjective. Each one was soulful, and influential, and had a distinctive style. If not, they would not have been the voices of the Tempts. But, as I've pointed out, though there are some simililarities in tone and timbre, Paul was a baritone, and David was a tenor; Paul had great range, and many people tend to think that because of the raspiness, and deeper quality that David was also a baritone. Hence, the comparisons. However, David's voice was tenor. Albeit, the classical heldentenor, or heroic tenor, but still a tenor. When not singing the top background note, during Eddie's solos, David could sing second tenor. On many occasions, he and Paul would overlap, or even sing the same note. This closeness in ranges, is what allowed the Tempts to blend so well. David did not have the deep low notes that Paul had. Paul was just above Melvin, and those two would sometimes overlap, in Melvin's upper range. Ah, 'Nuff Said!

I would have given almost anything to have seen them more than once...😢👏👏👆☝

    L.... G....

Linda Green TNR-vintage all the members of the Temptations were the Voices, Period. 😊✌Kelsey West Philly

    L.... G....

Linda Green and definitely Melvin carrying that unique harmonious bass

  42. r.... ....

DAVID RUFFIN WAS GREAT BUT HE WAS NO PAUL WILLIAMS SR, DAVID COULD NOT TOUCH PAUL AND MELVIN DANCING, PAUL HAD ALL THE MOVES FOR SURE AND EDDIE KENDRICKS. VOICE WAS BETTER TO ME THAN DAVID.

    r.... ....

Paul was the best dancer, followed by Melvin. Eddie did very well even though he felt he was "too stiff" a dancer.

    r.... ....

It's always great to compare their voices, and styles. However, Paul was a baritone with a soulful, heavier, sometimes raspy, voice, and great range, while David was a tenor, with a dramatic, lighter, raspy voice quality.

    r.... ....

    rollerchickable you are nutttts

I listen to people dog Berry Gordy all the time. I never met the dude and don't know him. None of this would have happen without Berry Gordy. He was the one with the big picture. I live in Detroit now. Detroit doesn't have any Berry Gordy types in it anymore. You need that guy with a dream and a single minded focus to make it happen. All black artist got robbed back in the day. lol

    c.... t....

    @renaissanceman165

    c.... t....

Actually without his wife, Raynoma, a lot of his success wouldn't have happened. She had the talent he lacked. Read her book Berry, Me, and Motown: The Untold Story. She deserved a lot more credit than she got.

    c.... t....

Clarence Terrell: You never know it just might have happen without Berry Gordy. Somethings are just destined to be. In this case it just happen to be Berry Gordy. I am thankful to Mr. Gordy ( simply respect) for fostering the music industry/ owner of MOTOWN. These GROUPS and the SOLO ARTISTS gave us sheer delightful pleasure.
    Cora Hudson-Guice

    c.... t....

clarence terrell : You seem to have a great abundance of respect for Berry Gordy. Why do you refer to him as a dude? How about Mr. Gordy, a MAN. There isn't anything wrong with giving RESPECT to whom it is due. You will be deem more of a MAN if you show proper respect. I'M not trying to belittle you in any way but in order to get respect, show respect to others whom deserve it. Cora Hudson-Guice. Thank You.

Thats a matter your opinion, that really dont count in my book. but I will have a nice life now that this discussion is over :-)

  60. c.... c....

No you got bent out of shape with my response to some else comment. I dont care who you like in this group thats your thing. You need to read all your replies and you will see who got bent out of shape. Im still enjoying their music no matter how I feel about some of the memeber in the group. You just need to chill out with these replies and move on yourself..

  61. c.... c....

I believe the only one getting bent out of shape is you..if you go back and read the comments I believe your the one who got upset with the comments that me another person made. Duh

  62. c.... ....

. Noone said he was not important to the group, He was the least talented one the group however in books and movie he made himself look like he was the glue this group. I personally know and met Paul Williams younger brother who I keep intouch all the time and from the stories he told me from when he travel with this group up until his brother died he will tell you that Otis was all about pleasing Berry Gordy and not what was good for the group even right down to how they were getting paid.

  63. m.... ....

Please, Release, The Complete Vault Of DR.

  64. c.... c....

This is truely one of my favorite songs and nobody can not tell me if David was still living he wouldnt be a key figure in the music world today. No one can touch this song the way Mr Ruffin touched it.

  65. c.... c....

@Modelt5000 You will never hear Otis come right out and omit that he was not a key figure in the Temptation but more like just a roaming voice amoungest the group. Ive read both Otis book ( The Temptations) and Romansky book (Aint to proud to beg) both books tell different sides of the story.thats bacause more people were interview and were involved in writing the story. Otis book was all done by him.

  66. M.... ....

@connie4087 THANK YOU!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!! I Always hear Dennis EDWARDS say "what a BLESSING AND AN HONOR TO HAVE SUNG WITH THESE TALENTED GUYS"!!!!!! BUT I HAVE YET TO HEAR OTIS SAY ANYTHING CLOSE TO THAT.. I COULD BE WRONG, BUT I HAVEN'T HEARD IT!!!!!! SO SAD!!!!

  71. t.... ....

@tonycozart I was just thinking that same thing today! WOW!~ I would love to hear this track with Ruffins voice.I'm sure they did a demo or two and they are hiding it somewhere,LOL~ Ruffins Voice and Dennis have similar qualities while very different tonal qualities, i just don't know if Ruffins voice how well it would have worked with Normans new Sound! That has to be something worth hearing!~

  72. l.... ....

NOBODY BEGS LIKE D.R. LOVE THIS SONG

  73. J.... P....

    good stuff mate.......just subscribed

  74. c.... c....

    @magnipotentmartha1

I agree I wish they will do an Unsung on David,Eddie and Paul... We really will love to hear from people other than Otis to really tell us the truth about the Temptation and not the Hero story that Otis portrays in the Movie and in his Book...

  75. G.... ....

I love this song. David's vocals are a lil more soulful than usual on this, and of course those harmonies by Otis, Eddie, Paul, and Melvin and beautiful as always.

  76. j.... m....

Damn Ruff is a bad boy

  77. m.... ....

NOW WE HAVE TO HAVE HIM UNSUNG.

  81. M.... P....

@tonycozart YOU R SOOOOO RIGHT..THANK U FOR CORRECTING ME..NOW THAT U SAID THAT IN THIS SONG PLAYING I CAN HEAR SOME RUFFNESS IN HIS VOICE TO HANDLE THOSE SONG THAT DENNIS SUNG LEAD ON...IM LOVIN THIS SONG

  82. t.... ....

@mineurbizness Before David left the Temps work had begun on "Cloud Nine." David would have been on the record if he had stayed with the Temps. I wish that someone could dig-up those test recordings.

  83. M.... P....

@tonycozart THEY R BOTH GREAT SINGERS..BUT I DONT THINK DAVID VOICE WOULD HAVE WORK FOR THE TYPE OF SONGS DENNIS HAD SUNG ...THATS JUST MY OPINION..BUT I LOVE THE SONG THATS PLAYING FIRST TIME HEARING IT

  84. d.... ....

    @musikman324
Yes, you do need to say at least one more-----Paul, my favorite. I know you are a true Temp fan but I just had to put Paul's name in there too. Still loving and missing him...always

    d.... ....

    dimbrown1 😘😍😢💜💜💜PAUL

  85. j.... ....

soul....heck yeah, cause this song just went deep down into mine, uhm, uhm, uhm

  86. V.... ....

Dennis Edwards was a great replacement for David but I have to say David had an edge on Dennis. Both brothers are bad ass singers and well, I have to give David an extra star for that's what he was. Too bad going solo he just didn't shine the way he did with the group but overall going solo you'd have to have the company invest in you the way they invested in Diana Ross. She got all the perks from doing the boss but if David got the same treatment he would've been awesome.

    V.... ....

+Vincent50................David was signed and under contract as a SOLO ARTIST to Motown before he began singing with the tempts. This is why his petitions to Berry Gordy to rename the group David Ruffin and The Temptations went nowhere.........Because he was still under contract as a solo artist to Motown.......So Gordy would have ended up with two groups..... (1) David Ruffin (2) The Temptations........

  87. n.... ....

@tonycozart Dennis has got a lot of grit, but David is the original.

  88. t.... ....

You think Paul was better? I don't know about that. If you wanted someone to sing a gut-wrenching song that dripped with truth and honesty; Paul was your man. But in so far as who had the most range, and versatility; David was the man. He could sing a sweet ballad, a soul-stirring-romp, a aching plea, or classic pop. David's range went from tenor to baritone. He
could scream and growl with the best of them; or he could just serenade you. Paul was great, but he was no David

  89. Y.... ....

@tonycozart when Paul was the lead singer, he was better than David and Dennis.

    Y.... ....

Yamcharotto are you friggin nuts girl

  90. C.... ....

This song is bad. My first time hearing it. Why the fuck they did not sing/play this song in the movie. If they would have kept making songs like this, they would have had more hits in the late 70's, when they had fell off.

    C.... ....

HEAR HEAR, and "Don't Send Me Away". I really love "Don't send me away". It was recorded by Otis and released on a "B" side of a record. It is a slow romantic ballad, the kind of song you dance to, when the music is winding down at The Club/Party. The voice is tender and smooth as silk. I honestly believe that, had Motown placed this recording on a "A" side of a record and promoted it, it would have become a HIT..........With the ladies who love to slow dance, listening to guy who's begging her for another chance

  91. T.... ....

    It's on With A Lot O' Soul

  92. e.... ....

What is this from? Why isn't it on my Emperors of Soul box set?

  93. t.... ....

Lately I've come in contact with people who prefer Dennis Edwards over David Ruffin. Don't get me wrong; Dennis is a bad brother; but I just gotta go with David.

    t.... ....

Dennis barks and shouts a little too much for my liking

    t.... ....

Dennis was great" but it wasn't close David is the man"

    t.... ....

Dennis was great..but he couldn't touch David"

  94. E.... ....

    One of Ruffin's finest vocals.

    E.... ....

I don't think anybody ever wrote a song that really showcased David's potential. This was draggy and hard to sing.

  95. J.... W....

    i love D.Ruffin's vocals...nice post thanks

  96. d.... ....

    Cheers, as do you!
