I could only IMAGINE what David Ruffin's voice would have done for a Christmas song.

I guess it comes down to whether you are more a fan of THE SUPREMES or the sound of THE TEMPTATIONS. For me, this a SUPREMES song..........hands down! One thing that I do like better on this cover version (and wish that they had included in the recording by THE SUPREMES) is the "Stop In The Name Of Love" organ riff that is heard here...........that would have been great on THE SUPREMES' original version of this song.

...........not only did The Temptations take a song that is still associated with the legendary SUPREMES, but, they also took the organ riff from The Supremes' signature song, "Stop In The Name Of Love." Actually, I'm surprised The Supremes didn't put that organ riff into their original version of this song. By the way, the song was written for The Supremes' Christmas Album by Jimmy Webb in 1965.

This was the prettiest song on the entire wonderful magnificent album, on their later Christmas album they replaced it with a special song by Melvin called "Christmas everyday" one of the maybe 2 or maybe 3 times they let Melvin lead, with his deep melodious voice...it is very unique and sweet. They replaced "my Christmas tree" and "Someday at Christmas" () because they were considered DOWNERS so the later album was more upbeat...lol I have to have them both, but I did have to search until i went to Amazon to get it...I play them both every year and when im alone sometimes on regular days : P...just to have all their lovely songs

They made a new album and replaced this song and another wonderful one called "Someday at Christmas" song by Melvin, because they felt they was too heavy, you know...downers, so I have both albums though they are the same except for those two, but I love them both so much in fact...the entire albums...I keep them both...Check out SOMEDAY AT CHRISTMAS led also by Melvin he is a bass singer very smooth, I bet you will like that also : it sings of Hope...for a world with no wars... I love them all : )
