Didn't discover this song until right after Eddie & Paul left The Temps. Kept playing it over & over. I actually like it better than "Just My Imagination." This song convinced me that Eddie never should've left The Temps... at least not when he did. He explained shortly before he died that he never wanted to leave. It was a business decision. Just as Ruffin got a lot of flack for getting big-headed, which wasn't the whole story or fair to David. Dennis Edwards shared that when he first replaced Ruffin, he was given a song list to learn in which David led 11 of the 13 songs. Dennis was shocked & said that Eddie & Paul should at least share half of the show. Eddie then said, "That's why David felt the way he did." David felt that if he was doing the most singing, he should be paid more or given the name ahead of the group. He was turned down on both counts & that's when he rebelled & was fired. As it was & continues to be, the person in The Temps who makes more than twice as much money than the rest of the group combined is the one who does the least singing.

This tune and of course "Just my Imagination" I always considered the swan songs for Eddie Kendricks tenure with the Temptations. And what great classics he left. I love this song and the production is amazing.
how can you call this underrated, obviously you were not a True temp fan. This was a classic. Eddie`s swan song with the group. though I prefer Paul`s version of keep on trying on the cloud 9 lp
