Television - The Dream's Dream Lyrics

The elevator called me up
She said, you better start making sense
The stone was bleeding
Whirling in the waltz
I went to see her majesty
The court had no suspense
She said, dream dreams the dreamer
I said it's not my fault

I read an interview with Richard Loyd and was impressed by his use of theory. I was not expecting self indulgence but I was expecting a few twists and turns. Kind of like the Police where if you are of a Pop music mentality there is nothing there to push you away but for those that want you can find some depth easily. I don't get it. It is just some nice simple pop.
Thankfully uncluttered and not pretentious but there are no underlying challenges.

I had heard of this band, but just until last week I actually heard their music. Amazing.

I'm gay and this speaks to me. I think this might be homosexual brainwashing TBQH.

‘The Dream’s Dream’ se apaga lenta y tensamente. Aquello era en realidad el fin. Television no volverían jamás.

i remember when some friends and i were chating and chilling in a room and all of us had the chance to change the music using this platform, yeah it was years ago, so when i had the chance I chose Television, a friend of mine likes sort of garage music, as soon as he started listening to television's sound he said "they sound like the strokes", immediately i said to him "no, the oposite, the strokes kinda sound like television", we laughed and enjoyed, such a great moment; i think that one can't keep living experinces for too long before getting fed up, even though i wish i could, but instead learning as much as posible and share, but it comes a time when it is necesary to move forward not forgeting everything learnt before of course

My twin eyes peered blankly into a plug store that was Joan Rivers,
in her spinal years on blown vinyl chairs, final pears & bone slivers
that scratch the front of my arse like cameras beaten by drone livers

  29. r.... b....

  30. B.... L....

Why you even bother? - UK (Britain) had it all, the most progressive bands on the planet.

    B.... L....

I agree - except that Television were from the US.

  31. B.... L....

The vocals are perpetually boring. Insipid. Generally, I find this tedious.

    B.... L....

    I agree. Shallow and pedantic.

  32. M.... ....

These lyrics are fucking brilliant. This song is fucking brilliant. It's songs like these that make life brilliant.

  35. v.... ....

Such an unusual composition: A 1:40 intro of music before 30 seconds of singing, followed by over 4 more minutes of music.

  36. L.... E....

Easy the most beautiful guitar solo i've ever heard

  37. A.... P....

Love how Verlaine adds in a feline sound effect vibrato note in response to the main guitar refrain.

Then later lowers its pitch and gives it more distance and echo to make it sound like human-voiced lament or moan.

  38. V.... ....

Under the tutelage of Velvert Turner, under the tutelage of Jimi Hendrix, how could you go wrong with the guitar playing?! Such a unique sound.

  39. S.... S....

damn, no one really has got those strings down for what -- 40+ years now x

  40. K.... ....

    K.... ....

    Esa banda es re fome

  41. L.... M....

    Warning!!! Geniuses at work!

  42. P.... P....

V´s singing is kind of awkward, he told himself he sounds like a choked turkey, well it doesnt matter as long as it is in this context. Its original and kind of classical Beauty that makes one just travel through time and space.

    P.... P....

He sometimes sounded like Patti Smyth.

    P.... P....

it goes well with jangly guitars

  43. r.... t....

I loved this band, Please come back!!!

    r.... t....

@richard tomao they're back and playing in san fran at the end of june.

  45. H.... ....

My favourite of the album with glory !!

  46. p.... ....

Totally agree Jerste.......the Waldorf version is Television at their finest. The whole set is simply awesome.

  47. A.... C....

Timeless and brilliant. The guitars and especially the mood is sublime. The guitar solo at 3:30 is perfection.

  48. E.... M....

  49. K.... A....

    the guitar @4:10.
    This must be heaven

    K.... A....

    Must be

  50. K.... A....

Maybe their most beautiful song? The guitar solo is so pretty it hurts

    K.... A....

    no doubt about it

    K.... A....

I don't think so. Solo guitar is just insane in "Call mister Lee" :

Hear this one on "Live at the Old Waldorf " ...
Marquee Moon sure is a special one but Adventure is more than its little brother.

This must be my favorite rock song ever. I don't know. I don't care. It's not my fault either I say.

  52. t.... ....

Effortless, beautiful, peerless, electricity and guitars in unison.

  53. F.... ....

Never too late for Television !

  54. H.... T....

  55. B.... t....

It was always underrated. And so is their third album. I think the third one is actually more beautiful than Adventure.

  61. G.... P....

    Un LP...Miticoooooo!!! <3

  62. P.... P....

Verlaine is a geek, but a talented more sensible one than the other "stars" of this period. To me he was epitomizing a gifted poet/artist much more than f x Elton John, Television had such a fervor a taste, that harked back to the symbolists and one thought that everything is possible. Love this song it really makes "my heart sing" in a quiet way

  63. R.... E....
