Tea Party, The - Way Way Down Lyrics

I took a walk to the nearest crossroads
And I fell on my knees
I met a teacher, a dark art preacher
And I paid him his fee

He said, oh my boy you're stained with sin
And you're a going concern
Walk a mile in my soulless shoes now
Here's the lessons I've learned

Tell me do you want this
Tell me have you heard this one before
Tell me do you need it
Cause I'll tell you this, I'm not sure

It's my break down
It's my shake down
And it's coming up from way way down
Way way down

It took a while Satan smiled
And before I could leave
He gave a wink and he made me think
He said, do you really believe

Tell me do you want this
Tell me have you heard this one before
Tell me do you need it
Cause I'll tell you this, I'm not sure

It's my break down
It's my shake down
And it's coming up from way way down

It's my break down
It's my shake down
And it's coming up from way way down
It's my break down
It's my shake down
And it's coming up from way way down
Way way down
Way way down

    love this song a lot

  2. l.... ....

I was listening to Frank Zappa, and got this as a recommendation, read the title that it's The Tea Party...felt ashamed I haven't heard this song before. SOLID!

  3. J.... P....

Does anyone else think this song has a David WIlcox vibe? Great tune.

  4. A.... ....

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.

  5. L.... W....

    This is just GOLD

  6. r.... ....

LOVE the solo middle eight bit

  7. G.... G....

Everyone in COLORADO is waiting for YOU!!!! Come here please!!!

  8. P.... V....

Sounds like it would ROCK hard live!

    P.... V....

it does, they demoed it during their last tour, this past spring 2019.

  9. C.... G....

Between this, Black River and the Cass Corridor it sounds like you guys are having a blast in the recording studio! While some folk might naysay that it's not in the same epic & majestic vein of their other work, I get a kick from hearing a band actually sounding like they're having fun.

  10. K.... B....

please tour the US with Big Wreck!

    K.... B....

hell yes ,i was also thinking that would be a great combo

  11. D.... D....

  13. f.... ....

Who's on the harmonica? Three guys making all this awesome music.

  14. R.... B....

    WOOT! Loving this!

It's some light country rock. Without ideas, without deep thoughts, without challenging music. The song of street musicians. Where songs like Sister awake, Lulaby, Dust to gold, Cathartik, Alarm, Aftermath. Anything at least at the level of Brazil? It's sung right in this song, it's the way down. Like Kebab and other pop. If would came not The Tea Party listen to, and any cheesy Nickelback. I really hope you have just such a habit, put something easy and simple in recent time. Like with Waters on fire. However, at the same time the single was released and the Black sea. Where is the Black sea of the new album? Not Black river, lake, black waterfall, not this cheap light rock with a touch of ancient notes of TTP, but something serious?

Honestly, it sounds more like a b-side from one of Jeff's solo albums (which did have some great songs like, World Is Calling, Where Do We Go From Here, Going Down Blues, Chinese Whispers, A Line in the Sand, Morocco, Black Snake Blues, Closure, Invocation, The Ground Cries Out, She's Leaving, The Cobra, The Pyre, The Rosary, Daystar, Baby's Come Undone, Buttlerfly, Riverland Rambler), and not at all like a Tea Party song.

@Dan Maler As far as I know, Jeff returned to TTP only because of Commerce - solo projects did not receive so much attention. Yes, they are so others, but some songs such as Whispers, Cobra, Pyre, Line at the Sand, Ground Cries Out, Closer and other such interesting music, though not TTP. On the last album there were some powerful compositions, but it was evident that The Tea Party went in the wrong steppe. The latest singles are not even like Jeff's good solo tracks, that's just light rock with country and pop motifs, but definitely not TTP. Yes, they are not laid out at concerts and can not be played like 20 years ago, but studio recordings can be more original. Not two-minute rock. More frightening is that I agree with Jeff and other members of the group, Stuart, who created the brilliant soundtracks to the games, where a lot of psychedelia, eastern music, metal, ambient, gothic. And one of the best drummer Jeff Burrows. It is hoped that these two singles for fans only pop rock 70's, but will be exactly TTP songs.

@Alexandr Tenevoy You're absolutely right my friend! That's the truth!

  24. B.... W....

OOOOOOOO this is crazy blues good. LOVE IT

  25. R.... K....

FIRST HEARD THIS AT Caesars Windsor, HOME OF THE TEA PARTY, SO GOOD

  26. f.... ....

Only complaint about both new songs are they are both too short

    f.... ....

@fonzo80 I don't have that mindset. I don't take what I can get. These guys are far too talented to release something this short and simple. It sounds like it was written and recorded in 5 minutes and honestly sounds more like a b-side from one of Jeff's solo albums.

    f.... ....

@Dan Maler I agree that the complexity is missing but these guys are all nearly 50 and living happy lives. The passion and intensity ebbs at this point. I'd rather have this song then never hear another new song from them. We're lucky they ever got back together

    f.... ....

@fonzo80 They got back together 8 years ago and have only released one album since then, compared to their output prior to retiring the band. Even Jeff was far more active when he was a solo artist, having released an album in 2006, 2008 (his best one) and 2011. Don't get me wrong, I have been a die-hard fan since 1993 and have seen them in concert several times and as recently as 2017, but still, this song is disappointing. It's rushed and more like a jam, or an unfinished idea, than it is a really fleshed out song. Hopefully, they still have more creative ideas in the tank before calling it a day.

    f.... ....

@Dan Maler they will always be an important band for me and Im not arguing that this song is amazing, i do like it better than Black River, but I don't think we can expect another Master and Margerita or Inanna from them. I think they're just content doing what makes them happy now. It could also be that they banged out these songs as an excuse to tour while they are working on the new album.

    f.... ....

@Dan Maler well it looks like these are both on the new album. Here is a 3rd song called So Careless. They did it live acoustic for a radio station https://youtu.be/OBpTgUttgUg

  27. T.... ....

    So good!!!

  28. J.... ....

Heard this live a few weeks back in Vancouver... Bout time it's out 👌

  29. R.... ....

    Nice one fellas.

  30. R.... H....

    Great production on this tune!

  31. a.... ....

    blues best baby

  32. J.... S....

    sooooo good!!!

  33. D.... M....

Been waiting for something new for so long! This is definitely different than anything you've done before (Tea Party wise). Definitely not as complex as arrangements that you've composed in the past. It sounds a bit like some of Jeff's solo work. I've been a fan since Splendor Solis (1993)! I saw you guys the last time you were in Montreal. Hope to hear more material soon!

  34. M.... D....

Awesome! A great return to the bluesy rock!!!

  35. D.... P....

    Sweet!!!

  36. R.... m....

Way way down the rabbit hole.....like

  37. .... ....

    Nice Song!
