The early 2000s were amazing for rock fans. Honestly until recently I never realized the split in genres. Taproot was Nu-Metal, Simple Plan and New Found Glory were Pop Punk, Godsmack was post grunge, My Chemical Romance and Hawthorne Heights were emo but I never differentiated any of them. I just loved rock. And still do. AND miss seeing it on the Grammys now with this new wave of music they call rap? At least Snoop Dogg and Eminem and Dre and them had it bearable. This new stuff? We gotta go back

I kinda understand. Stephen does sounds like Layne Staley the first time i heard it with its nu metal sound (and Deftones is the pioneer of nu metal). Its not saying Taproot is better than those bands, it's just saying what it reminds me of (and some cases where they took the reference from).

@Blitzenius Nazri Deftones isnt the Pioneer of Nu-Metal, Korn is if you want to choose a good defined band, and it wasnt even fully Korn, you had Anthrax's "Bring the Noise", The Beastie Boys, and Faith No More, and even Rage Against The Machine at the head

@Reid Garwin more like one of the pioneers, and the Anthrax you mention is more like proto nu metal along with Beastie Boys and Faith No More.

It was rumoured back then that Layne Staley himself was going to be featured on this, but sadly he passed before he could bring his ass to the studio. Dunno if it was real, but that was the rumor back then...

@33 XVI Taproot and AIC shared the same producer, so I certainly wouldn't be surprised if that's the case. I'm sure it has something to do with why the harmonics in the vocals are very Staley/Cantrell like.

Now that I think about it, I can definitely hear some Adema influence in a lot of their music. You have a great ear.

Why wasn't this band on Ozzfest 2003? There was a rumor that they were on the bill. I would've loved to see Taproot with KoRn and Disturbed on the main stage of that years Ozzfest. I think also The Used were also kicked off the bill because their singer broke up with Kelly Osbourne. Was Taproot supposed to be on the 2003 Ozzfest?

TAMA drums are the best. It's crazy every drummer that had influence on my drumming uses Tama which is all I can use. TAPROOT top 5 all time band in my opinion
