Tammy Wynette - Honey Lyrics
See the tree how big it's grown but that it hasn't been too long it wasn't big
You laughed at me and I got mad the first day that I planted it was just a twig
Then the first snow came and I ran out to brush the snow away so it wouldn't die
Came runnin' in all excited slipped and almost hurt myself and you laughed till you cried
Yes you were always young at heart kinda dumb and kinda smart and I loved you so
And you could sure embarrass me when you came home from working late
Cause you would know
That I'd been all alone and cryin' over some sad and lonely late late show
And honey I miss you too and I know you're being good
And I'd love to be with you if only I could
I wrecked the car and I was sad and so afraid that you'd be mad but what the heck
All afternoon you stormed around but I knew how to cool you down I hugged your neck
You came home unexpectedly and caught me crying needlessly in the middle of the day
And it was in the early spring when flowers bloom and robins sing I went away
And honey I miss you too and I know you're being good
One day you were not at home while I was there and all alone the angels came
Guess you thought it strange of me to live the way I did that day it was a shame
But now your laughter just began and even though you miss me hon you must go on
And when the snow fly passes overhead and cries down on my flower bed
You know you're not alone
See the tree how big it's grown but that it hasn't been too long it wasn't big
You laughed at me and I got mad the first day that I planted it was just a twig

Tammy Wynette Honey Comments
Hi! Good morning!thanks for sharing
Wonderful song, winderful voice. Trop d'émotion
How she makes me feel ...... I don't have the words ....
Beautiful
Beautiful. Thank you
my husband has been gone just over 2 years. he was a 2 tour Viet Nam veteran. Honourably discharged. US Air Force. Nam didn't get him in country, he came home with screaming nightmares for the rest of his life. it killed him, just as sure as if they'd shot him. and Now it's only been 13 day since we buried my favorite cousin. he was only 54. throat cancer. but that didn't kill him. it was the treatment.
the following are the actual words Miss Wynette is singing;
Honey (I Miss You) as sung by Tammy Wynette
See the tree how big it's grown
But that it hasn't been too long, it wasn't big
You laughed at me and I got mad
The first day that I planted, it was just a twig.
Then the first snow came and I ran out
To brush the snow away so it wouldn't die
Came runnin' in all excited slipped and almost hurt myself
And you laughed till you cried.
Yes, you were always young at heart
Kinda dumb and kinda smart and I loved you so
You surprised me with a puppy
Kept me up all Christmas Eve two years ago.
And you could sure embarrass me
When you came home in from working late 'cause you would know
That I'd been all alone and cryin'
Over some sad and lonely late, late show.
And honey, I miss you too
And I know you're being good
And I'd love to be with you
If only I could.
I wrecked the car and I was sad
And so afraid that you'd be mad, but what the heck
All afternoon you stormed around
But I knew how to cool you down, I hugged your neck.
You came home unexpectedly
And caught me crying needlessly in the middle of the day
And it was in the early spring
When flowers bloom and robins sing, I went away.
And honey, I miss you too
And I know you're being good
And I'd love to be with you
If only I could.
One day you were not at home
While I was there and all alone, the angels came
Guess you thought it strange of me
To leave the way I did that day, it was a shame.
But now your life has just begun
And even though you miss me hon, you must go on
And when the snow cloud passes overhead
And cries down on the flower bed.
You know you're not alone.
See the tree how big it's grown
But then it hasn't been too long, it wasn't big
You laughed at me and I got mad
The first day that I planted, it was just a twig

I have always admired Ms. Wynette's voice.. I just listened for my first time her version of "HONEY'.. I never imagined anyone else other than Bobby Goldsboro to make those lyrics and song their own.. Great job Tammy

Tolleigh Capps... Your a good man ... and your mother obviously raised you to be a gentleman :)
"Honey (I miss you)" is a song I will not listen to with anyone but maybe my wife around.
Every part of this song reminds me of my mother. She was from a florist family and loved growing things,in fact we have three tall trees
in our yard today that she ordered and I helped her plant. She loved old movies and only last year I had to put down her last 13 year old
"puppy". She lived the last 15 years of her life with us, So Mom,I miss you too And I'm trying to be good.
Very good Song Thanks Jamie !!!!!
