Actually if we wanna get precise about this it’s actually a cover of Marlena Shaw’s Woman of the Ghetto
I just found out about this cover. So weird that I had never heard it before. Here's the original by Blue Boy if anyone wants to hear it: https://youtu.be/fKKNPLowteY
The middle circle looks like a heart drawn there on purpose if you stare long enough.
after listening the original this is bullshit
these mfers channeling Jack Black on this 1
I totally forgot about this song

came back to Remember Me because the new song is shiiiiiiiit
It sounds like the original that never was
Sounds like something between Pond and Mink Mussle Creek...
Reminds me a lot of cream
wow this song sounds better with low quality
how the hell do you turn pop trash into this?
literally genre is everything
This band rocks
Lots of stoned people left replies here. I won’t argue their stances. I agree for the most part. Kev does at times sound similar to Lennon. I think these guys are great musicians and deserve their own place in the sun. While I love Lennon and the Beatles, we all have to carry the weight and move on. Lots to love about the Fab Four and much to love, love, love about TI and their uniqueness!
In my opinion they ruined a good song by blue boy.
The original still exists. This is just their interpretation. Go listen to the original if you don't like this.
John Caudill that’s what I did.
Does anyone know any other bands that closely resemble 2008-2010 Tame Impala from not only the 60's but also other time periods? I love them so much but I want to discover other artists who have similar sounds :)
check out "Pond" from Western Australia. Some members of "Tame Impala."
Rimimber me? funny accentuation..
moby surely
всё таки денди хуйни не слушает
I can't stop listening to this Song🌙🔮
"Remembre me ? Im the one who had your baby's eyes"
Tony V. California i swear I’ve been singing “ass” all this time
I used to think she sang "remember me, I'm the whore who had your baby, aah" 😊
This is more 60s than the 60s itself
Jeeeee....
""Remmumber Meee""....and also...Remember me....!!!
Can someone recommend some bands or songs that sound like this?
Stone Roses
Very nice song! One of the best of tame impala.
Still good almost a decade later
I love how i keep finding these new songs from tame impala that ive never heard before and there just awsome, its nice to find some new music that is not this main stream shite
Not enough words. Think of something besides the title of the song
It's like if John Lennon quit the Beatles to replace early Pink Floyd's Syd Barrett
they need to officially release these recordings
It's in the collectors edition of Innerspeaker.
Suuch a good cover
jethro tull comes to mind for some reason.
Kinda sounds like Hush by deep purple?
ahaha
what the fuck?
tame impala are one of my favourite bands, had no idea they'd covered this.
so cool, god bless.
Love it.
Anyone ever noticed that in this cover photo it looks like someone stepping on a disco ball and the circles are representing the sound of what happens when someone musically stomps disco music? i don't even know...
What a great cover! Whether a cover or an original, you can count on it sounding like Tame Impala style! Do it justice and more! What a powerful song Marlena Shaw wrote!
I'd have babies with this song. fffnnggggg
Samantha Stever
I think it was Tame Impala original song. But then I hear the original in some ad... anyway it's Marlena Shaw - Woman of the ghetto
it's a cover of blue boy's song remember me (1997), which sampled Marlena Shaw's Woman of the ghetto (1969)
well then.
It's funny how many great songs turn out ot be covers of songs that were already great
This version seems like a soundtrack of a Oceans eleven movie! Gr8!
@freddgredin same bro
sounds as good as the Daley ft Jessie J version. different but good too! love both
cool vid.. def keep uploading
Sweenie
Excellent.
Somebody pass the spliff...
here have some Dutch hydro...
Your my new best friend...
@Stan Jones ;)
I know its a year later... still lit?!
this song great !!!!
blue boy recorded this in 1997; but it 1st appeared on mark farina's mushroom jazz album recorded in '92
+Robert Wright The original of this song is from 1969 from a singer called Marlena Shaw and it's called Woman of the Gettho...
+Paulo Sérgio Pinto right you are sir. technically farina's track is built around samples from marlena's which was released on the cadet label in, yes, '69. it's her tune that inspired the samplers 20-some years (and more) later.
Sounds like song by goldfish called remember me, now i know where goldfish got it from
+fjk https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remember_Me_%28Blue_Boy_song%29 ;)
+Marco Murciano Hey, there they all are :D I think I like Tame Impala's version best though.
yeeeeha, grow up with this song, and tame impala makes it to an evergreen.
Aura Blaze
+bloodfiredeath87 I'd never heard of this band until yesterday but they're great. Aura Blaze that is, not Tame. Been listening to Tame Impala for a few years.
+mummyjohn Both bands kick some serious ass!
This sounds like "Take Me Back" by Siouxsie and the Banshees.
+Susanna Powers I definitely hear it. :)
+Susanna Powers yes, indeed; and since siouxsie released take me back in '84, there's a case (not legal) for conscious or subconscious plagarism; but really, there's nothing new, everyone borrows from (or is inspired by) the works of other artists. but who cares, really, cuz we like both tunes, right?
+Susanna Powers for what it's worth this isn't even a Kevin Parker song, it's a cover of a Blue Boy song which is also a pretty groovy track for what it is. I like it better than the original and Take Me Back, though they're all pretty solid. Honestly though, you're stretching it pretty fucking far to compare Blue Boy's "Remember Me" (which is what this melody is taken from) to Siouxsie and the Banshee's "Take Me Back". The melody comes close but there's enough variation and then it completely diverges in melody for long periods. I get the mild comparison, but definitely not a case of 'plagiarism' as Rob implies. Really though, Blue Boy was a Scotch DJ, and it isn't even him singing, but rather he uses samples-- so if we want to take it a step further technically this melody belongs to a Soul Singer whose melody would have predated Siouxsie and the Banshees anyway...
BASICALLY what I"m saying is: while I see what you mean about the melody, there are only so many sounds you can make and to assume that something is plagiarism just because there are mild notation similarities is Bullshit
+Chris Anderson pretty sure the Blue Boy track itself is sampling a classic song from an older soul artist. Creativity is revolving circle.

This isnt helping the conspiracy theories about weather Jhon is really dead or not
Would they let me play this on a local branch of a public radio? I'll have a student practice at one here in Bulgaria :)
hippisters!
Member Moi.
When he says I am the one who had your babies, it mean like boobs?
Maybe we're perverts :V
@Andy Gomez the original songs is from Marlena Shaw, and it's a reference to African-American maids raising white children for little pay, time ago.
Oh, I see now. Thanx ;p
@Andy Gomez You Welcome :)
+Andy Gomez No but I fully accept your interpretation
From the band that brought you home from school. Scareknuckles told me stories I can't forget. He was a boyscout in Namibia. All the other kids shifted in and out of the seas and ohmagawd, his grandmother had it all scooped out. She was fighting with shadowboobs at that time, but that's just a general insinuation. Her turf was deep, I tell you. In all my years of acceleration I never lost sight of my creams. And right before she hit the great bowl of superstition, she told me: too many cocks spoil the bride. And I lived along the curly wetness of her wisdom. And I did well. What have you done, caustic beings?
I wonder what Thanksgiving dinner's like at your place.
Dudee! You definitely found Molly and its friends...
I don't know if anyone's ever told you this, but you're kinda weird
fuckin' youtube weirdos
sound like a movie trailer
Remember ME?
@***** must have good taste!
EXCELENTE !!!
The Blueboy version was actually a sample from Marlena Shaw's Woman of the Ghetto........Blueboy's therefore isn't the original....
Yeah for Marlene it was just a throwaway phrase in (what seems to me) an improvisation. Funny to hear other musicians turn that tiny sample into songs.
gay boys
Well mabey they are, nice thinking Jim.
Kevin Parker sounds a lot like John Lennon, and this tune sounds a little like The Doors
El Codey a little Brian Eno too :)
Gimpy Sunshine definitely
I kinda thinks it sounds like Blue Boy - Remember Me
@Jezza Ibuki thats because its a cover of that song
He really doesn't sound like Marlena Shaw however.
