Tally Hall - Spring And A Storm Lyrics
One time I tried to sing
About spring and a storm
But you know
How it goes
Blah blah blah blah blah
All along
Won't you please stop complaining
I'm playing a song
But all the rain comes down the same
Falling to from where it came
On the ground then back around
Up into the sky
I wish you could have heard the music
When the clouds growled overhead
I finally felt enthusiastic
I finally felt alive
Blah blah blah blah
Blah blah blah blah blah
So you said
Would it please you to listen
To thunder instead
Man the rain came down that day
And it drained my soul away
And I wondered why I even
Bothered to try
Mr. Moon (Yeah?)
Tell us about the sky
The sky is deep and dark and eternally high
Many people think that's where you go when you die
Do you?
Well I think you return to obscure
Or wherever you were
Before you were
But I won't let you lose yourself
In the rain
We have so much left to sing
There's a storm for every spring
All you see and you and me
Became from a star
You're a star
Yes you are
(Silent explosive and silent explosive and...)
Create until nothing is left to create and
The universe bursts with an overworked sigh then
Pretend to pretend to re-crown the creation and
Sing the same thing till the clouds start to cry and then
Over and over and over again and then
Over and over and
Never again

Tally Hall Spring And A Storm Comments
stardew valley vibes??? But sadder
Bruh been listening to this song for a year now and I have listened to it hundreds of times. Recently got a really good pair of headphones and I was listening to this song and in the
“But you know, how it goes” part and the other parts of the beginning I heard another voice in the background. Tally Hall, Jesus Christ the amount of detail and layers they put in their songs it is incredible and they don’t ogre do it
Cause layers
Got Coraline vibes
This is one of my favorite Tally Hall songs it's just so beautiful!
Me at the beginning of the song: oh I get it! There's a storm for every spring. Meaning no matter what, there's gunna be rough patches in your life
Me at the end of the song: ...
Big sad bard energy
[ mr moon, excitedly ]: WELL I THINK *YOU RETURN TO OBSC-*
fuck joe hawley I hate him so much. no one gave him the right to make me cry in engineering
i was having a really bad night and commented here. before i deleted it, somebody responded with a heart. i dont remember their username but i hope they know everything turned out alright and that im really grateful
Found out about you guys recently and i just gotta say you guys are amazing. You guys havent done anything on youtube at least in a long while but i just wanted to say amazing job guys
I really love this song, the lyrics are kind of my philosophy, as i understand it at least.
It's like, some people are scared of the void, they don't like to talk about the how the sky is so deep, the universe infinite...
For some others, it's strange chills you feel when you think about how each atom is infinite, the walls, the air; it feels like it's compressing you; and then you realize you are infinite and you feel part of this dense universe... and the oppression goes away.
You can't do anything about it, you can't fully understand it, but you accept it and you feel like everything is as it should be, and it will always be, even if everything isn't anything anymore.
At least that's how i feel,
But for those who are scared because they don't want to see that reality where they are not important it, even if they know; if they think too much about it they'll end up like that paragraph :
When the rain came down that day
And it drained my soul away
And I wondered
Why I even bothered to try
It's not that your life doesn't matter if it doesn't matter to the universe, as long as it matters to what/who you care about...
"Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, and I learn, whatever state I may be in, therein to be content" (just wanted to put that here because it's kind of this topic, right ?)
That's how i see the song, personally.
Edit : Also the fact that it includes afterlife; something people are worried about, how they're scared to disappear; kinds of links to what i wrote earlier...
red tie best tie
Demo: *takes puff of blunt* uhh idk ppl talk about hell n heaven alot, could be that. Ay yo it's raining that's lit.
Official Release: I think we return to nonexistence. The blurred lines of conciousness and unconsciousness. What could lie there? We may never know, for dead men tell no tales.
Who hurt Mr. Moon, damn
at 1:06 it loaded the page
This is like if you stapled 2 two minute songs together and presented them as one
uuh am i tge only one not hearing the kid talk to the moon?
honestly playing minecraft while listening to this is an experience

Any corrections that need to be made? Please let me know.
Left headphone's busted and Mr. Moon sounds like he's talking to himself.
I never noticed that Mr. Moon can be heard singing along after his part is over.
This song is so bittersweet, and nostalgic.
It fills me with this hyper-aware existential dread, but in a good way?
Like how incredible it is to be alive; this brief opportunity to see so many incredible things while we're here, before we go wherever we go, if we go anywhere at all.
"Over and over and never again"
A line from this song is in borderlands 3
I love how bittersweet this and it fills me with nostalgia for some reason but I love it so much
0/10 bopps? I'll give this song a 9/10 bopps, this song is BOPPIN
I transcended at 4:06
What do the different colors of your neckties represent on your cover album?
Sounds the best with headphones.. Love the panning :)
this song lasts for an eternity
A less perceptible detail of this song is that once “silent explosive” begins being sung, it never stops. It’s easier to notice this with headphones on, but coming from the right speaker you can very faintly hear it being sung throughout the entire rest of the song.
The whisper at the beginning is kinda creepy.
I think between this song, Ruler and Banana Man is why they always got compared to the Beatles. So good.
that last little bit... even after nothing there is always something. a true strummed a tangle
this some new beatles shit
nevermind this got weird as fuck halfway through
1 this gives me pretty old panic! Vibes hm.. 2 I heard this song on Spotify during a rainy day in the car, and Its never lost that impact :3 so relaxing and pretty 🖤
this song slapped my tits clean off
ok but i actually find this song uplifting and comforting.....
“Mr. moon?”
“Yeah?”
“Tell us about this guy”
“This guy is deep, and dark, and eternally high”
I’m sorry
Spring *and* a storm!?!
Love this song. Reminds me a lot of They Might be Giants, both in sound and spirit. Not sure if that was their aim but it's great.
"~blah blah blah blah blah blahblahblahblah~" ah such beautiful lyrics
i love that my left headphone is broken
I always thought that this song was singing about how you can create and create but whatever you create you will just be recreating something that already exists. You can try to follow your own tune but you will find yourself doing the same exact thing, over and over and over again then never again. Create something knowing that it won't be original, originality is near impossible, but keep on doing it if it'll make you happy.
woah i wasnt expecting to find Mewtley

*i watched this video during a tornado watch*
I love this song. Most of the song is calming and sweet, except for the part at the end, but it's short and I love it. A lot of people are interpreting this song as sad and dark, but I find it very happy. I think it's about being insignificant in the grand scheme of things and the world not really having much meaning to it, but making the most of life, in all of its repetitiveness and morose atmosphere. The Mr. Moon part always brings a smile to my face.
But you know
im very scared right now and this is . incredibly comforting
everyone's talking about having an existential crisis but can we talk about how the ending makes me cry like a baby? the soft vocals followed by the ukulele and rain from the beginning are just 👌👌👌
this song makes me so goddamn happy
when they say don't lose yourself to the rain its a reference to the saying "like teardrops in the rain" we have such a short time in this life and we can be lost so easily. I don't think that there is an afterlife but who knows? that is why you must do something with your life, don't waste it. make a name for your self, be remembered.
I had no idea they were from Michigan. Its so cool one of my favorite bands is from my state
Omg that gitaur got me in the feels
They dont resolve the chord at the end I'm feral
I- I like the pretty music.
i got an ad about jesus lol
I'm scared bc I was sitting in bed in the dark and I thought there was like a hair stuck in my boob so I pulled on it and it hurt so i turned on my lamp and it turned out I had a single hair the length of one of my fingers just growing out of my chest and quite frankly idk what to do with this information but it freaked me out and I just really needed to share it with someone so here we are
To clarify, none of the other hairs on my general upper body are that long. apart from the top of my head.
The worst part is probably that my first thought was "fuck I didn't want to be a werewolf yet"
Ummm... ok
im not sure what to do with that information
Vixella’s Instagram story brought me here ✨💜
uh, cool
*_one time, I tried to play a song about spring and a storm.. but you know.. how it goes.._*

Basically this comment section: M E N T A L B R E A K D O W N, oh wow the feels, did you hear the thunder in the beginning? It's like I'm back in 8th grade with a bunch of beta male emos
YOURE a beta male emo. id shove you into a locker
I kinda like the demo better
--------
Change my mind
I... I can't! *cries in defeat*
No idea why but I thought this was a modern band from something like 2017. Damn. It's that old.
I wish :(
Mr.Moon?
Yeah?
Wanna buy some drugs?
*YEAH*
I'm sorry XD Its a joke my friend and I came up with
Eh, I prefer the demo version, but this is still good.
I LISTEN to this in class and it almost blasted but it didn't so yay
Everyone thinks this song is so sad. I think it’s happy! It’s about making positives out of negativities but being honest about the situation. I also really like the Mr. Moon character, he’s honest with the children about their question, but he let them know not to get lost in the rain and feel bad about the ambiguity.
And these were the people who also made BANANA MAN and put it in the same album
I agree, my mom says he sounds like Satan lmao
I was thinking the same thing!!
@That Warlock Banana Man is depressing in its own rite if you listen closely to the lyrics, being about crippling drug addiction. But I see where you're coming from.
Honestly this song is far more uplifting than other happy songs. When my depression got bad. I didnt think it will be okay theres better things on the horizon. I thought theres may be nothing after but who cares i exist here and now. Dont lose yourself in the rain.
Unless I wildly misinterpreted this, I really like (and was kind of raised under) the mindset that there isn't an afterlife, but to enjoy that because we instead are part of everything. The matter that currently makes "us" was part of a star :)
If there's no afterlife and were all stuck in the same room, id be happy to hang out with ya
carl sagan?
Woah this is such a clever way of looking at it! I was too wrapped up in other ideas to notice this but this is brilliant.
unrelated but i love how we share two of the same interests
Is it just me or do they sound like the Beatles...?
JELLYFISH,,,,,TRY THEM
Was
Was I the only one that didnt have an existential crises over this song...
i give all my uwus I didn’t have an existential crisis over this song mostly because at the age of 10 I told myself that nothing matters coz i’m gonna die anyway- i’ve stuck with that line of thinking ever since!
alright big man
You know this song is good when the first three comment have mental breakdowns in them
In the demo it is like "well it seems to be tricky to tell, whether there is a heven or hell" but in this mr.moon has an opinion
we need to stop oppressing mr moon
BonBun Films mr moon rights
The demo and the actual song are whole different moods
I had a dream that it took the “Create until nothing is left to create.” part, and mixed it with a version of the strings from Aristotle’s denial. It was very pretty.
I don't know why, but hearing all those kids say "Mr. Moon?" filled me with such a primal fear I felt my heart rate speed up and my eyes widened and I honestly thought I was about to be murdered for about a solid minute
You probably shouldn't have children, my guy
@Meek Source ew why do you say that? what are you thinking that absolutely no one else is thinking?
i think a word that you might find fitting would be 'frisson'
You must not be experienced to the likes of the god joe hawley
@matt cassidy they said that because kids talk like they do in the song all the time, so op would be living in fear
Used to have a lot of fun in Media class confusing the shit out of my friend with my music taste...
My friends hate my music taste. Mostly cuz its just death grips
Does anyone know how he made Mr. Moon's voice, or does anyone have a guess?
There's A Reason These Tables Are Labeled, Honey probably pitch down effect
This, is awesome! So lively, I love how their songs often shift and change and adapt before ending the same way it begun. It's like listening to a complete story! Didn't make me question reality as many others seemed to... Probably because I don't worry about death all that much. Great tune! Would recommend to anyone!
This is so peaceful and I love the messages. Great songwriters!!
Me: *Puts on Spring and a Storm*
Friend: "Yo this song sucks."
Me: "Won't you please stop complaining? I'm playing a song."
I laughed way harder than I probably should have this
Oops time for new friends
I still love this joke
THIS IS THE GREATEST COMMENT IVE EVER SEEN
Don't know why but all their music gives me "The Good Place" vibes
I love tally hall so much
What if I lose myself in the snow? I mean, it is November in Michigan.
AYESSS FELLOW MICHIGANDER
Heads up, it's the same month everywhere, not just Michigan.
I feel like this is like the Northern Downpour of Tally Hall
wait you're right-
I feel like this is forbidden knowledge
I don’t like how accurate that is
I like to sing this when I bike to school in the morning
demo version:
Play pretend, my friend, and lose yourself in the rain
Finished version:
But I won't let you lose yourself In the rain
i think something _bad_ happened
Top 10 music theories
@Remy whistlepunk I'm forming a little bit of a hypothesis if that helps.
So basically, I think it's about a lone person who wants to write a simple, happy song about spring and a storm (or perhaps, happiness in life in general), "but you know how it goes." They try to block bad thoughts, since they're trying to write/sing a positive song, and they tell themselves "won't you please stop complaining, I'm playing a song."
After somewhat unsuccessfully avoiding the negative emotions they feel and only coming up with "blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah," they start to expand their horizons from what they first set out to think about, because a good song needs more than just pretty-sounding words about spring and a storm anyway. They ponder metaphors, and in doing so, they end up getting lost in their negative thoughts -- the storm, rather than spring, because they can think of more about the storm.
After this bit of existential exploration, they return to the song they're trying to sing and think "I won't let you [the song] lose yourself in the rain," with the rain being the constant flow of time in life, with people's memories and creations easily getting lost without being recorded in history at all. (The whole Mr. Moon segment plays into it because Mr. Moon is the songwriter and the voice asking the questions is the song itself, or the paper the song is being written on -- a blank state, beckoning for answers through song lyrics.) They have a moment of hope through the sorrow and are able to continue coming up with lyrics, which is reflected when they sing "I wish you could've heard the music
when the clouds growled overhead," and so on; songwriting and singing are good methods of releasing pent-up pain, after all, and singing allows the person in this song to "[feel] alive" for a second, and then they continue with "blah blah blah's."
So, they conclude, ironically, that thinking of all that worries and depresses them will inspire a good, happy song about spring and a storm ("would it please you to listen to thunder instead?"), since "there's a storm for every spring," and once the rain washes over, life is reborn. They go overboard with the existentialism in the end, however, and their breaking point is reached when they start to question the nature of human creation itself -- in other words, why even sing the song anyway, since the song will never be perfectly original ("pretend to pretend to recrown the creation") and we'll all end up back in the stars where we started someday anyway. Many of us try to create to no avail, and even if our creation gets recognized, it isn't going to be interpreted as we want it to, and it won't end up as an accurate representation of us in the long run because of this, along with the fact that we all change as time goes on. The whole idea of rebirth actually ends up depressing the songwriter to the point of silence -- "never again." The songwriter simply wants to stay in the rain, or the storm, forever....
It seems bleak, but we can take a few things from this song that are positive as well, even with this quite negative, nihilistic take on it. First of all, "create until nothing is left to create," and don't think any further on the matter. Don't let your doubts consume you. Do what makes you happy in life, and try to keep death in the back of your mind. At the same time, don't bottle up these thoughts and feelings. Share them with others, discuss things, feel things... or you'll never feel alive. Life is pain, but this only means that pain signifies that you're living when you don't feel alive so you can feel better later. I hope this all makes sense.
Ooooor perhaps this is just a big projection of my sad little self onto a song I like. I dunno.
I think it just mean to not let yourself get too down
I mean I wish you could've heard the music could have pointed back to the demo
Imnotacop uh oh
It's both spring and raining here
In the demo, the moon says to lose yourself. Here it tells you it wont let you. Huh
something _bad_ happened
The final song almost sounds like a reply to the demo's lyrics.
Lise Legier
That would be a very tally hall thing to do.
Great, now there is two songs that I like with blah in them
(the other one is rock it by gorrilaz)
Rock it is a gem
oh i was thinking totally fucked by spring awakening tbh
computer glitched near the end when they say "sing the same thing" and repeated it over and over. i thought it was part of the song for around five minutes
Tally Hall
[Starter Pack]
🅱️ERFECT🅾️
i used to think the “blah blah blah blah” part was “love love love love”
I like that though
I thought the "all along" was "all alone" which made this song just that much more depressing
lmao same
I thought it was "blub blub blub blub blub.." lmao
Okay between this and Ruler of everything *_are they ok_*
considering both of those songs, and banana man in the replies, are written by the same guy i think the question is
is joe hawley ok
"are they okay?" oh no, no, oh yeah
Joe Hawley is a bit nuts
Mama Owen In an interview they said they made a scrapped song that was mostly just swears. I think that’s what became of it.
Not too many comments here
I gotcha bro
Calcium
Agreed
I love this song so much. It makes my cry its so good. And i don't get the "the kids having an existential crisis". I understand what their saying and i understand that. ITS SO FRiDGEN GOOD THOOO!!!!.
The joker and I love this it captures the essence of life why fear the one thing in life you will happen to you and everyone one else in life and so don’t cry laugh and laugh and laugh just keep on laughing until the whole world gets the joke not because life is a joke but because the fear of death is so laugh have fun and if you want to get a one up on life die laughing that’s our advice to you we hope to hear you’re laughter soon
