Talking Heads - Heaven Lyrics

Everyone is trying to get to the bar
The name of the bar, the bar is called Heaven
The band in Heaven, they play my favorite song
They play it once again, they play it all night long

Heaven, heaven is a place, a place where nothing, nothing ever happens
Heaven, heaven is a place, a place where nothing, nothing ever happens

There is a party, everyone is there
Everyone will leave at exactly the same time
It's hard to imagine that nothing at all
Could be so exciting, could be so much fun

Heaven, heaven is a place, a place where nothing, nothing ever happens
Heaven, heaven is a place, a place where nothing, nothing ever happens

When this kiss is over, it will start again
It will not be any different, it will be exactly the same
It's hard to imagine, that nothing at all
could be so exciting, could be this much fun

Heaven, heaven is a place, a place where nothing, nothing ever happens
Heaven, heaven is a place, a place where nothing, nothing ever happens

Tina is an excellent bass player. Play it one more time!! Everyone will leave at exactly the same time.

  13. B.... P....

Beautiful. I love the roll-out of the drum set. It's just a small taste of what's to come in this epic performance.

  14. G.... A....

This song belongs to a singer called Lazarus. You can hear it on YouTube. It’s just a shame no one has the entire recording. Talking Heads butchered this song.

  15. M.... R....

    Brilliant song!!

  16. a.... d....

    So addicted to this version.

Probably one of my favorite songs ever. Many people want to go places and do stuff, my heaven is the daily routine. Love my wife, love my job, love my life.

    Es fabuloso, una reliquia

Always loved this song. Very poignant and those harmonies are so beautiful.

  25. T.... M....

    The Bar is Called Heaven

  26. J.... C....

Even though yes they are the mf Talking Heads, this song and other cuts by them still have me thinking that they are just still so tragically underrated.

    J.... C....

This is considered by many to be the greatest concert movie of all time. So, hopefully, not too underrated.

  27. J.... A....

This is one of my favorite scenes from Stop Making Sense. With Tina gently grooving on bass while David sings solo (but with offstage vocals from the girls) and then they start pushing the risers out. This always spoke to me as how cool it would be to be Talking Heads at that particular moment.

    J.... A....

i went to CBGB in 1977 to see them, and as we were sitting around waiting for the show, the lights went out. It was the big blackout of summer 77. whoa what a night.

    J.... A....

James Abrams So, the background voice with David is indeed one of the girls?!?

  28. S.... K....

The bass is poor. And that is giving undue credit. Tina worshipers -- cue now.

    S.... K....

Congratulations on letting the world know that you're a sad and insecure little man.

    S.... K....

    @Michael Stevenson Right on cue.

    S.... K....

@Stanley Klein Wrong dipshit. A post in a facebook music group brought me to this clip. I'm not a fan of Talking Heads, nor a worshipper of Weymouth. Thank you for confirming my assessment of you

  29. H.... B....

the second voice singing together with david, is it an effect or somebody

    unseen in the background?

    H.... B....

Today, full digital multitrack recordings from rehearsal are synced to live performances. If a singer has a cold, the mix engineer can punch up the prior digital recording in place of live audio while the performer lip syncs. Back when the heads performed this, early digital recording was used - and was 10 ms off typically. By combining the two nearly identical sources, you get a harmony duet. Today, wireless mics have a signaling button that gives the performer the ability to switch to multitrack, turn around and sneeze, then go back and the audience is no wiser. Everything is synced by a click track over the talent iems, which comes from the digital playback source.

    H.... B....

I believe it was one of the background singers just singing from off stage.

    H.... B....

The background singer is singing offstage. In the dvd commentary they said they regretted not getting a shot of her singing in the dark backstage. If you’ve seen the movie, the band members come out one at a time and this was the second song and didn’t want to ruin that with another person out there

    H.... B....

    @steelyd2 good answer. dankeschön

  30. M.... X....

    Art.......

  31. O.... C....

Forgot how good this song was

  32. d.... ....

A melodic, soothing bass line by Tina.  No pick.  So great.

  33. R.... R....

    This a great song.

  34. T.... K....

Who is the female vocalist here?

    T.... K....

Terry, who sings is a backing vocal Lynn Mabry.

    T.... K....

@Tom Moscardini Thank you very much!

  35. A.... R....

    Best ever seen!

    A.... R....

  36. J.... M....

Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens.
    That's my heaven.
No phone calls. No texts. No problems. I can just relax. I can just be.
Sometimes I stare at my phone and I pray that I won't be bothered. Even if for an hour.
    I like David Byrne's heaven.

  37. J.... 5....

...they were so far ahead of their time when they "broke' ...people still have no clue... what's it been 35-40 years...I am from Rhode Island and ..and they first met at R.I.S.D.(School of Design) & Brown and when they returned after they had some mileage under their belts ...it was like they landed on the same planet ..except for the hits, at the time and a small following....I thought awesome ..."out of the gate". love Bryne and T...just wish them the best in everything... Love you guys...Keep doin' What Yo're doin' ... i'm a writer and a half ass guitar player... ... ...really love your work. graduated Emerson...and La Salle Academy ...look me up anytime 24/7. or call i'm in the book c: 215-7908 R.I. later, lol. always

  38. V.... C....

David Byrne always looks the business, his co singer looks like a rough remnant from the 60's.

    V.... C....

You are full of shit; Byrne's 'co-singer' is out of shot

  39. f.... j....

Who do we have now musically to compare? Damn.

  40. n.... r....

THE BEST BAND AMERICAS HAS EVER PRODUCED.

    n.... r....

Your comment is both highly partisan and remarkably uninformed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Velvet_Underground#Legacy

  41. A.... V....

wow i didn't know thomas shelby was in a band

  42. G.... A....

So lucky to have seen Talking Heads, live, three times. Fabulous fabulous fabulous.

    G.... A....

    Lucky indeed! Goddamn.

    G.... A....

I was also lucky to see David Byrne perform live he played in the ambassador in Dublin some years ago👍musical genius.🎸😃😁

  43. f.... j....

Talking Heads gave voice to what I could not say myself.

  44. f.... j....

What woman is singing backup? Tina's lips are not moving.

    f.... j....

frere jacques im assuming it was one of the background singers backstage

    f.... j....

@Toni Gardner Yeah. But the presentation was kinda like were gonna go bare bones and put two artists on stage to do It. But there was this secret lil' "backstage."

    f.... j....

frere jacques i know, this whole concert has a different feel to it than any other show which is awesome!! i especially love how the different parts of the band come out one by one.

  45. D.... M....

I saw them prior to the "Stop making Sense" album came out at Plattsburgh State University. One of the top 5 shows I have ever seen. The movie could have been recorded at the show as it was the same show as the movie. What a great band incredibly tight playing, sound was phenomenal even for a gym. The entire audience was moving and dancing around and the band seemed to love it. Quite a shame they couldn't reconcile their differences and tour again or even just make another recording.

  46. J.... B....

    My favorite song of theirs.

  47. r.... s....

Love this tune, Its different from their other stuff!.

  48. L.... J....

    Wenn dieser Kuss vorbei ist
    Es wird wieder gestartet.

  49. g.... ....

I want to see a remake of the bad angel Christopher Walken movie The Prophecy with this as the opening and closing credits song.

    g.... ....

That movie was so bad ass!. A remake would be cool!. But Walken is one of a kind!.

    g.... ....

rhonda sampson truth. Alright, I want to see a re release of the OG Prophecy with this song as the opening and closing credits song haha!

  50. S.... G....

Immer wieder geil einfach eine top Band

  54. c.... z....

I actually got here from a KD Lang cover which is pretty awesome :)
    brilliant original, indeed

    c.... z....

    Wow. I totally forgot!

  55. K.... D....

Who is singing with David? I don't see Tina singing.

    K.... D....

This presentation has two singers who do background vocals. I do not know the name of these, but if you look at the final credits of the DVD you should have their names.

  56. m.... ....

who is singing the backing vocals?

    m.... ....

I was wondering too. Don't see Tina singing.

    m.... ....

    The sublime Lynn Mabry, offstage.

  57. M.... W....

It was at this point in 1984 that I lost my heart to Martina Weymouth.

    M.... W....

One time I saw them in a super crowded concert hall, and stood right in front of her the whole concert.

  58. C.... B....

Well weve done the treble treble but this is no bad

  59. D.... D....

    best music movie ever

  60. R.... ....

Saw this concert at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, California, and it remains one of the best.

    R.... ....

saw it in Providence, RI when i was 16

    R.... ....

Awww. I saw my 1st concert there at 12 yrs old--English Beat/Bow Wow Wow.

  61. d.... ....

really wish kurt cobain covered this at one point.

    d.... ....

    Maybe he will sometime.

  62. c.... ....

I love the way he sings “could be this much fun”

    c.... ....

Peace of mind over non stop thinking

  63. M.... ....

I love this song! But, I also love how the crew assembles the back of the stage as this song is performed.

  64. S.... ....

    Such an incredible concert

  65. G.... G....

    tina <3

  66. G.... T....

My mother and I danced to this as are first dance at my wedding.

    G.... T....

aren't you meant to dance with ya wife first? mammas boy

    G.... T....

Versa Vile Hey! I married my mother you degenerate!

    G.... T....

@Greta Thanos you fucked your own mom?

    G.... T....

Best band to say the truth

    G.... T....

God I love the internet!!!!! 😅😅😅😅😅

  67. J.... B....

Tina is the best on the bass with her open strings.

    J.... B....

YES! Her open strings are solid!!

  68. g.... m....

Been listening to talking heads for the past 25years never gets boring.when real music was made

    g.... m....

Real music is still made. In fact, much of the "real" music these days is inspired by Talking Heads. Rappers like Danny Brown and bands like black midi have credited them as an influence.

  69. W.... ....

    TALKING HEADS

  70. R.... M....

The song makes a good point

    R.... M....

It reminds me of a Twilight Zone eps, where a guy realizes he's not in heaven but hell...

    R.... M....

Yes! Thinking of this song and that TZ episode- “A Nice Place to Visit”, actually make me almost happy that things go wrong in life sometimes. I also worry if things were too easy we’d all end up like the Eloi in The Time Machine.

  71. L.... X....

All respect, but Q Lazzarus version is better!

    L.... X....

Não acho. Nada supera a versão do autor. Essa do Lazzarus é muito chata. Cheia de firulas.

    L.... X....

A do autor tb eh muito boa. Mas a do Q acho mais marcante!

    L.... X....

Like they say, beauty is in the eyes (in this case ears) of the beholder. Maybe it's because I heard the Talking Heads version first or that I just find their version more relaxing.

    L.... X....

Who the fuck is Q Lassarus?

    L.... X....

    Q what??

  72. t.... ....

A very nice easy listening song done very well by two talented people. I listen to this around once or twice a month when I need to settle the nerves. Thanks.

    t.... ....

@tommysfather The one singing in this is credited as Lynn Mabry in the official YouTube upload.

    t.... ....

@Lewis Turner absolutely not underrated....! everybody who loves music loves this.....

    t.... ....

Yeah Tommy saw this movie when it came out ! This is so special to find hope.

    t.... ....

@Lewis Turner maybe underrated by idiots, but by serious music aficionados certainly not

    t.... ....

One , or both of the back up singers, (both legends in their own right), is singing from backstage.😀😀

  73. S.... M....

Niesamowity Koncert. Forma mistrzowska. Na wieki the best of the best
