Love, Love, Love this song! Sooo well put together; the soca/calypso vibe, the going down the tubes but still partying till the end video, 'give me my modern luxuries' message, whats not to Love!! Somehow, Someway, this song makes me feel GOOD, puts me in a happy state of mind, maybe cause they look & sound like their having sooo much fun :)

The ones left over, the ‘Strong and beautiful ‘ ones David sang about will work together for the betterment of mankind. We can’t imagine the great things that humans will accomplish. We won’t just be sitting around watching the flowers grow!

Probably not in the long run it's not. Who's going to pay to watch the spent fuel rods for a thousand years till they Decay to a safe level. And don't forget it cost a billion dollars to decommission a reactor and many tons of the components from them will need to be treated as high-level waste. Which will need to be transported most likely . I've worked with radiation,it's insidious, it's evil , it's tricky and unfortunately the worst part is that it's the people who are truly fallible in the operation of these things. To say nothing of natural disasters. It's the most expensive way ever devised to boil water. To me generating electricity with radioactivity is like taking a drug in which the difference between a safe therapeutic dose and a lethal dose are within a microgram of each other. Always a knife edge between working efficiently and disaster. I know you've heard all the arguments before that are in the quote and link below. I realize that many people who think nuclear power is our salvation are actually more like religious converts than scientists. I don't know if you are but if I was a betting man dot-dot... the only safe nuclear power is 93 million miles away and that'll still give you skin cancer and wreck your corneas even at that distance. @O.P. Yates You also need to dispose the heaps of broken up solar panels; not to mention batteries used for storage full of rare earth elements mined by children in Africa. Coal is a total cluster fuck when it comes pollution and emission of radioactive elements. Wind - killer for the birds and bats :/. Putting solar collectors and microwave emitters on the orbit - easily convertible into weapons. I agree that Sun is a pretty neat way to produce energy. It's a complicated issue and boiling it down to let's stick 2 500W solar panels to each roof + get everyone a Prius won't cut it - it's obvious when you look at the Livermore laboratory energy flowcharts. Reading Johnny Marr's autobiography and it led me to this song. I recall when it was a hit, I recall when The Smiths broke up that Johnny Marr was gigging with various bands, but I did not recall that he'd played with Talking Heads or that he was on this song. Makes sense now, with the highlife-y guitar.

Thank goodness Talking Heads are still as cool, if not cooler, than they ever where. Shame it's now virtually impossible to listen to The Smiths, one of my other favourite bands from the 80s (bloody Morrissey).
