Talk Talk - Runeii Lyrics
Well aren't you success
In answer select?
Apologies met
An effigy blessed
Rescinded
Well aren't you suspect
In answer unread?
Meander contest
So effortly blessed
Slow to bleed fair son

The mass audience never understood this album. Rip Mark.
Directly in samadhi and slow deep breath
fucking hell it still hurts
A major achievement this record is. The whole damn thing. Kudos and RIP
It seems only the coolest souls are really really moved by this album. I can tell a lot about someone on how they react to this ❤️
That final chord progression is so quiet, but so powerful.
great album from the biginning to the end
13 people have no soul. How, in God's name can you dislike this ???
So sad hearing the news of Mark Hollis passing. Listening this album today has filled me with tears in my eyes but peace in my heart. Lovely Mark, finally your ascension day has come!
Rest up, Mark Hollis. He was a creative genius
Eternal music... Eternal Mark Hollis... RIP
People who listened to this album are definitely the OUTSIDERS
Genius. For real.
this may be the last TalkTalk song but listen to Mark Hollis solo album, its so beautiful. I love the guitar on this, mezmorising
Hard to believe this album is 27 years old. Sounds just as awesome as the first time my ex girlfriend played it for me one lovely intimate evening !!!
Nice !!
I only hope that you didn't get rid of a rare lady with such exquisite musical taste.
Not only that, now it's 28 years old soon!
Sublime, simple tan orgánico y Profundo que me emociona cada vez que lo escucho!!!
Oh god. This song, this album make me cry like I was listening to Arvo Pärt.
for ages i used to consider this a beautiful guitar song, but now i'm starting to realize it may be the piano & organ that do it for me...
In context to the album and this being a band's last song, I'm left speechless.
Wow I had the feeling TalkTalk knew it was their last song, on their last album by listening Runeii the first time!
nostalghia
Yes, thank you, I love them so far! I did just listen to the song you mentioned, very good as well, thanks! : )
dude, so glad my over a year comment is still making people listen to mogwai :] have you heard the song tracy? if you have not please listen.
Thanks for the tip on Mogwai ... I am familiar with the other two bands, but had not heard of them, really enjoying them so far!
That's just pretensious and really hipster-like(sorry for using the "h" word below a song like this). I want the world to know and acknowledge this kind of beauty and I still wish for Talk Talk to get full credit for their astonishing work. Why hide something from ones view, when you can share it with him?
shit, this was beautifull. thats all i can say
i GET sad everytime i hear this song because I know its the last we'll hear from talk talk
if anyone likes thids check out a band called mogwai ,sigur ros or explosion in the sky . its a later generation, but its still post rock.
and this is ment to pretty much be the start of post rock this album . i dont like the word post rock much, but its what they call it.
what an amazing album.
+Kasey Pettit I truly love Mark Hollis' work: beautiful genius. But I'm surprised to see your "this is meant to pretty much be the start of post rock this album"?? Do you mean for Hollis personally? Well, maybe. But more generally, David Sylvian and others (e.g. Robert Fripp) were already developing work of a similar style a number of years earlier, as were the other members of the defunct Japan. Check out Sylvian's "Secrets of the Beehive" (87), "Gone To Earth" (86), or the earlier track Nostalgia from 84's "Brilliant Trees". The same year Laughing Stock was released, check out the reformed Japan's "Rain Tree Crow" (91).
Can anyone explain to me what the lyrics mean?
Only Mark Hollis.....and it remains his secret! :(
I read that this song was aimed at the music business, (mainly EMI) It poked at how big EMI were, yet Talk Talk accepted their apology and all moved on with their lives. As is the Its My Life video. Mark Hollis appears with tape across his mouth. Apparently he did the video for promotion purposes but against his will. The tape is, his refusal to speak.
I sometimes wonder if "Runeii" has some distant connection to "Renee" which I know Mark was particularly fond of. An even more obvious question would be how distantly connected "Myrrhman" is to "Mirrorman", a song they would often use a part of as an intro to "Does Caroline Know?" in concert.
Just a thought for TT freaks.
(I love Talk Talk but Laughing Stock isn't my kind of thing as much as I appreciate what they were trying to do when they recorded it.)
@tsexauer1 Peter Gabriel can suck my fat one
This album changed my life.
This album can't be put into words. It's beyond any tangible human expression.
@KoenHead i do the same if i cant get sleep at night i llisten to this beautiful album to make me relaxed a softly fall to a sleep.
got all the albums.this is the best.touches, leaves you, comes again.sounds.lights.
@tkshots Lol. ok, you never stop learning! :D I was basing my 'theory' on mere phonetical similarities. Bad linguist habit haha. Cheers ;)
@arale1402 no...myrrhman probably refers to myrrh in the bible...runeii means an object of humiliating ridicule..."you,sir,are a LAUGHING STOCK"....
@ghostface3061288 I think they were messing around with the spelling. Like with MYRRHMAN >> Mirrorman could be RUNEII >> Rene haha. Writing music myself I know how daunting it is at times to think of a title of a song. TalkTalk must have thought of it as a rather trivial matter hence those weird titles. My theory at least...does it make sense?
@13A55player
THere are lots of people selling this at amazon.Look harder.
@kucharek01
It´s really an easy song. The most important is the guitar. It would sound much betrer on a semi hollow.BUt I used a telecaster on my cover (I figured it out myself, so, PM me If you want tabs)
It doesn't need to mean anything (although it might do).
There's not many records I've ever listened to in the middle of a delirious night and thought "I'll remember this forever". Unfortunately this isn't yet one of them...I remember hearing Rated X by Miles Davis while jetlagged, watching Penang traffic in Malaysia grow to rush hour levels, watching the city come alive. When "Sometimes" by MBV plays in Lost in Translation I know that feeling exactly. This song is BUILT for such an occasion. x
yes....
its about time mark hollis/talk talk were in the music hall of fame.
Your secret's safe with me !
sh... don'y tell anyone... let's keep this album our little secret. including SOE, and Mark's album.
you didn't hear it from me. i wasn't even here.

It is better if you listen to the CD. There are an incredible number of layers in these late works; but it's better to hear them than to not have heard them?
To all things a time and a season? To have access to something that isn't generally available has it's own value . . . I think.
I love living in Louisiana. Bugs outside are making atmospheric noises that sound like they're in the song.
