Talk Talk - New Grass Lyrics
Lifted up
Reflective in returning love you sing
Errant days filled me
Fed me illusion's gate
In temperate stream
A hunger uncurbed by nature's calling
Seven sacraments to song
Versed in Christ
Should strength desert me
They'll come
They come
Lifted up
Reflected in returning love you sing
Heaven waits
Westward
Evening sun recedent
Set my resting vow
Hold in open heart

Years before Radiohead, Mark Hollis was doing post-rock. I love it when a songwriter listens to music outside rock and pop then brings it into the genre. Jazz and classical influences are all over his last 3 albums. With its polyrhythms and unusual chords this is a perfect example. RIP a real genius.
I love how this song is fast paced, but also very soft and light, and that it’s considerably long but when I’m listening to it I don’t want it to end.
that guitar work is unlike anything
of course Johnny Greenwood or Robert Fripp are up there as well, but who else evolved from literally being a non-musician who barely managed to compose "All you do to me is talk talk" to THIS in just ten years ? David Sylvian maybe ?
The soul of the UK in their time.
Thank you for everything, Mark and RIP
This is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. I think I just changed my entire perspective on music in the span of 9 minutes... holy fuck this song is the GOAT easily.
I swear, some of these melodies have been haunting me since I was a child, and I heard all of them in the same song. It's like I just had a religious experience with a piece of music.
ALMOST NONE STOP LISTENING, FOR REAL !!!
I just realised the birds in the tree spell out the shape of the continents ...

Thats beauty right there!
Will always be loved and respected. A track that accompanied me during hardest times of my youth. Respect. Thank you Mark.
oh dear god. dislikers . ahahhaahhaa. so much blindness. "unbelievable" its like you hit them in the face with a hammer and you asking them . so did you felt anything and they say , "No" .---- dear love for music please spare me ending up like that !
A couple of weeks prior to Mark's death, I was casually talking to my brother about how his "disappearance" from the music industry, in a way added to the mystery and charm of his final three albums. They are something pure and spiritual, and became something of a legend.
I wish that Mark's family and bandmates could read our messages and know how dear his music is to us. To create something and have it affect people so intimately is the greatest reward for a musician.
I keep thinking about Mark Hollis now and then.
Capolavoro assoluto
Radiohead crossover

ce côté épuré on l'avait déjà vu chez Nick Drake...... deux saints
piano and drum at 3:15 or so is other worldly
I'm in shock. Today I was listening to Talk Talk and wondered how Mark Hollis was earning a living and decided to search the internet. I entered Mark Hollis in search and up came news about Mark Hollis and I thought to myself oh good some news about him then I read Mark Hollis dead at 64. I'm still in shock and crying. It's so hard to believe.
Just think Mark was walking around with all this beautiful music in his head. He had and excellent band to make music with. RIP Mark

May you rest in peace dear Mark Hollis. Your unbelievable voice will echo through time forever.

Rest in piece Mark Hollis. This track is so beautiful and sad. I feel such an overwhelming amount of emotion words dont do it justice. Such a spiritual man and song.
This song sounds like he has pulled it out of the ether, it gives me peace to hear it. .
This Album is such a masterpiece! R.I.P. Genius Mark Hollis!
Amazing to think that Polydor deleted Laughing Stock from its catalog soon after its release in 1991, it sold poorly. I picked it up as a £1 tape in a bargin bin in the early 90s....listened to it once and didn't play it again for a year. Then played it a second time and then again and again and fell it love with it and it remains one of my favourite albums....so out their and ahead of its time.....RIP Mark Hollis
Listening "Laughing stock" Alone under star in my moutains of east of France...

Rest in Peace
sleep tight, mark.
Thanks for all the good music, may you rest in peace
Nothing less than this masterpiece of music (rock? jazz? ambient? all of it?...) will do today. That little guitar line that crescendos around 8:24...my soul always leaves my body for a bit there.
RIP, Mark. Thank you for such gorgeous music
On repeat today
cryng my eyes out listening to this today
After two months I'm still crying.
...and six months. Ugh 😞
My hero Mark Hollis died. Mark Hollis lives forever..
His voice as an instrument, only using it when it was adding something to the silence. I don't think we ever get music this brilliant. Luckily guys like David Sylvian can fill the loss a bit.
So wonderful, RIP Mark Hollis
One of the absolute most stunning and beautiful pieces of music ever recorded. R I P Mark.
RIP MARK
Genuine tear in my eye, fuck me this song is sublime. RIP Mark.
Good bye Mark Hollis. I just saw the most beautiful sunset tonight. It must have been you.
There also was in Brighton that night....one of the most incredible I had ever seen.
That is one of the most heartfelt and beautiful things I've ever read. I think I'm going to cry some more...
Jesus Christ loves you very much - he whispered just in my ears..just wanted to let you know, brother!..
