Talk Talk - Eden Lyrics

Summer bled of Eden
Easter's heir uncrowns
Another destiny
lies leeched
upon the ground

Everybody needs someone to live by
Everybody needs someone
Everybody needs someone to live by

Rage on omnipotent

A gilded wreath on reason
The flower crushed conceives
A child of fragrance
so much clearer
In legacy

Everybody needs someone to live by
Everybody needs someone
Everybody needs someone to live by

Rage on omnipotent

  44. B.... C....

He sounds so much like Steve Winwood in Traffic, it's ridiculous.

    B.... C....

What's funny is that Steve Winwood played organ on some of Talk Talk's albums

  45. W.... ....

    this track, damn!

  46. M.... ....

Why oh why am I only discovering this now??? I'm speechless....

  49. J.... K....

This music reminds me of The Doors. It's like their personal nod to them.

  50. S.... H....

    Some definite TRAFFIC influence here.

    S.... H....

Phill Brown, the audio engineer for this album and Laughing Stock has worked extensively with Traffic.
Another fun fact: Steve Winwood from Traffic was the organ player on The Colour of Spring

  53. M.... G....

I'm hearing Velvet Underground "Heroin" in this.
    A brilliant record.

    M.... G....

"But I'm gonna try for the kingdom, if I can
Cause it makes me feel like I'm a man"

    M.... G....

    Great call!

    M.... G....

I thought so too! The crescendos are like 'Heroin', if you replaced the mood of debauched, apathetic nihilism with serenity and reflection.

    M.... G....

And I can see where Guy Garvey of Elbow took his inspiration for 'kindled' from

  54. A.... M....

    perfect moment

  56. m.... S....

    I love you♥♥♥

  57. g.... n....

Incredible masterpiece ahead of His time. And wonderful lyrics

    g.... n....

nothing is ahead of its time

    g.... n....

Yes, sorry. I was wrong. English is not my language.

  58. G.... T....

6.04 changed my life about twenty years ago. Still does.

    G.... T....

Its grunge 3 years before Seattle then post rock 5 years before Radiohead! That album still hasnt aged one bit.

    G.... T....

    jfcc9086 Radiohead isn't post-rock lol

    G.... T....

@youandwhosearmy? Radiohead came after post-rock was already established though, but without any term and very early into its infancy. Although at that time Radiohead was mainly alt rock so it's safe to say it didn't influence them, not until OKC maybe

  59. r.... g....

the whole album is nothing sort of an work of art..just otherworldly..

  60. M.... ....

    quality

  61. r.... ....

More than music this is pure magic, i can't explain how is possible to compose this wonderful sounds, more than music composed by humans sounds like just falled from heaven.

    r.... ....

raulvz Great words, I totally agree, what a truly amazing band! I wish I could go back in time to that era. I really feel this band, excellent!

    r.... ....

Absolutely agree! My love to this music will never get less.....

  62. E.... W....

    sublime

  63. p.... ....

the intro sounds like Heroin by the VU.

    p.... ....

+pythonbyte You are right but it also reminds me of beginning of Strom from LYSFLATH.

    p.... ....

    damn it really does

    p.... ....

from 1:20 similar chord progression, D over G with a strum on single string on E sound like in heroin

    p.... ....

Mark Hollis was influenced by Velvet Underground, he said so himself

    p.... ....

He also said that The Rainbow is a ripoff of Steppenwolf's The Pusher, I can barely hear the resemblance
    though

  64. I.... R....

Is there a word to explain just how amazing this song is...

    I.... R....

    @Iain Richmond Nope.

    I.... R....

+Era Unda I am sorry, but I do not know who or what Strom from LYSFLATH is?

    I.... R....

+hub carman we will be hanging around for  long, long time...

    I.... R....

storm from the album lift ur skinny fists like antennas to heaven

  65. D.... ....

    Rage on omnipotent.

  66. 7.... ....

The ear needs to hear the whole album for each piece of beauty to be appreciated

  67. z.... s....

Ich fand diese Musik in den 80´90´geil warum gibt es die Hammergeile Band nicht mehr ???? Ich liebe diese schöne Musik immer noch. All Time Favorit

    I Miss You Talk Talk

  68. Y.... B....

This song reminds me the kind of music we could hear in the 60's-70's when Mark Hollis was a child as I was myself. We were too young to be a part of it, but still, we grew up in this and have been marked by it forever. Especially, if Mark's brother was older than him and influenced him, it must be have been even more anchored in his mind. As it is in mine.
This whole album looks almost like a tribute to his brother and this period.
For me, Talk Talk was the 80's, but by listening to this, it is like a trip to the past. I suddenly realize that our background is totally similar, Pink Floyd included. What is amazing is that Mark Hollis does even better that the original spirit + his voice, it is kind of very overwhelming.
How not to love this song?

  69. M.... C....

    Genius!

  70. M.... ....

80s BEST decade for music and life- and nice girls- new times are pure trash

    M.... ....

I like to let this mythical decade start a bit earlier ideally with "video killed the radio star" and end it with the deflagration of Testsuo The iron man.

    M.... ....

MultiMrMiles popular music in the 80s was garbage you got nostalgia goggles on

    M.... ....

    ...said every generation, ever.

    M.... ....

@C W The 80s stand out. The 70s and 60s too. And the 90s. And the 2000s and 2010s. If you know where to look, you'll find great music no matter what decade (usually post-war period for recorded studio music rather than classical) it was released in.

    M.... ....

Wrong!!! Shit music, highlighted by spectacularly beautiful albums - occasionally. The exceptions to the rule.

  71. J.... R....

    is that tree moving?

    J.... R....

If you stare at it long enough. :-)

    J.... R....

    Physically or emotionally?

    J.... R....

    Yes. For me too

  72. K.... C....

  78. D.... W....

Thanks for the info but it says above this is off Talk Talk album Spirit of eden i've just noticed.

  79. C.... ....

1988. Mark Hollis released a solo album, wonderful.

  80. D.... W....

Amazing song, what year was this album released ? this is so haunting ,

  81. C.... ....

Mark Hollis: "I choose for my family. Maybe others are capable of doing it, but I can't go on tour and be a good dad at the same time."[

  82. B.... ....

You lose credibility when you make a statement like that.

    B.... ....

    BroncosWn eh!

  83. b.... ....

whats the deal, why isn't this band a house hold name. Iv listened to the best of music, and they are easily on top.

  84. l.... ....

I agree and he must have been influenced by Brian Eno's Another Green World (1975). In this masterpiece, Eno emphasizes as much importance on notes and silences between them and he knew how to create textures. Meanwhile, Mark Hollis was surely taking notes...

  85. S.... B....

Also have Spirit Of Eden and Laughing Stock as top two. But also like the solo album from Mark Hollis.. I didn`t get to see them live... :-/ Wish they would come back..

  86. M.... B....

Spirit of Eden and Laughing stock are my top two albums.

  87. K.... O....

    Couldn't top Skynyrd.

  88. P.... ....

comparisons to sigur ros are invalid

  89. T.... ....

    Incredible and pioneering.

  90. i.... ....

A perfect album in my eyes.

    i.... ....

    incredible. In my ears....

  91. b.... ....

this album is a moment in full, just sit back with bith headphones on. thats the answer :)
this album seem to get through to me when im mad or sad :)

  92. J.... P....

Mark Hollis always talked about how "The Rainbow" was a blatant rip-off of "The Pusher" so... whatever.

  93. D.... B....

The start sounds a lot like "Heroin" by Velvet Underground
