Taking Back Sunday - We Were Younger Then Lyrics
Arab Architects
Are strung up by their necks
Singing
Hallelujah, hallelujah
Blessed be the lord
Drinking gypsy wine saying
I can't believe how strange it is to be alive right now
I see the good people trying
I remember when comfort was not an option
(But we were younger then)
Disciplined and strange
Focused and restrained
We were younger then
To process all that guilt
Well the desert lasts for days and out there
There's nothing else to do
Round here they turn ocean into land
And sell that land for gold
Use that gold to build themselves bigger better homes
I see cranes on the horizon
I remember when comfort was not an option
(We were younger then)
Disciplined and strange
Focused and restrained
We were younger then
When I go to sleep
I hardly ever dream
And when I'm wide awake
I can't believe what I see
I see the good people trying
I remember when comfort was not an option
(We were younger then)
Disciplined and strange
Focused and restrained
We were younger then
When I go to sleep
I hardly ever dream
When I'm wide awake
I can't believe what I see
Only in pictures before have I seen
Anything like from where I am standing
Looking I can't tell where the city stops
And the nothing begins
Only in pictures before have I seen
Anything like from where I am standing
Looking I can't tell where the city stops
And the nothing begins, begins, begins
(And the nothing begins)
Only in pictures before have I seen
Anything like from where I am standing
Looking I can't tell where the city stops
And the nothing begins, begins, begins
(We were younger then)
Only in pictures before have I seen
(We were younger then)
Anything like from where I am standing
(We were younger then)
Looking I can't tell where the city stops
(We were younger then)
And the nothing begins, begins
(We were younger then)

Taking Back Sunday We Were Younger Then Comments
A rock band
What's the meaning of the first paragraph of this lyric?
Bad ass song from an awesome band.
The melodies on Happiness Is are superb. Probably my 2nd fav album by them.
why does this chorus sound so familiar...
everyone talking Shit on tbs for changing but have you listened to daisy, the devil and god, and maybe even Deja entendu? they're all different from you're favorite weapon but you all don't talk Shit on brand new. tayf wasn't going to last forever :p
I love how they've matured with us over the years. There's a Taking Back Sunday song for every one of my emotions.
yes! They've grown up with us! <3 them
It's silly to expect them to still be as angsty as they were 12 years ago. That's a lot of time, a lot of things change.
aidan fengya for real, man. So many bands have changed their sound because of that very reason fuck man....their OG fans are anywhere from late 20's to late 30s. Fuck dude. We're all getting old. Growing up. Changing. It happens. It is what it is.
I get a softer TBS vibe in this album, but it's not "bad". Just like any other band they will evolve as the years pass and that's what they did.
When they were younger they were better. This album completely sucks. I cant believe people like this. Its utter crap. TBS will always be one of my favorite bands. And all their albums are amazing except this one. This is not maturing or different direction. Its like they are a whole new band- Coldplay2.0 At least my cousin agrees with me- "now theyre too slow and poppy" haha
+Marco Reyes I must disagree with you, you long-haired owl. This album is thoughtful, poignant and catchy at once. Lots of great songwriting and deep lyrics.
@Witness Me Yes I'm a night owl with long hair. But a good album, this is not. It might as well be Coldplay. This album sucks as much as you.
@Marco Reyes I never said that you sucked. I said that you looked like a long-haired owl. And I actually like owls. You're the one making this personal. I think that it's a profound, beautiful album, and you don't have to agree with me. It's not as great as Tell All Your Friends or (my personal favorite) Louder Now, but I still love it. I never said anything disrespectful to you, and you go and say that I suck. You're the one being antagonistic here.
@Witness Me I'm gonna fly up like Harry Potters owl and shit all over this album and in your mouth. Cuz you are what you eat.
Marco Havok yup better for you because of one thing : nostalgia
painfully awful. sorry TBS but... on a lighter note, the music sounds decent.
2:30 and on--great
Out of all the times I've listened to Happiness Is, this song hit me hard in so many ways. There's something about this song that puts me at ease with a very comforting sense of bliss, especially at the end. I definitely would love to hear this song live.
Amazing song
Who disliked this? Loser
Ashy Larry HA!!! Exactly.
Gotta be one of the most lyrically creative songs that TBS has ever done. Although the music is a bit bland.
Gordon Stearns except Mark. He always bangs the fuck out of the drums.
I adore this song right now, I just love the "Only in pictures before have I seen...."
best bridge they have ever made
Best song on the album.
def a good song bro...not my fav on the album mine is "Better Homes and Gardens" but EVERYONE is intitled to there opinion lol so dont think im tlaking shit cause im DEF not i love this song but just stating my fav is BH&G
@Jeromy Lyon Better Homes and Gardens is my fav too :)
@Jeromy Lyon Better Homes and Gardens is a bad ass song
+jgwentworth34 I love "Better Homes and Gardens," and I can see why it's so many people's favorite, but this and "They Don't Have Any Friends" are my favorites.
The beat song on this album in my opinion is this is happening
The Pop Punkers have aged gracefully into a sound that shows a broader landscape. Everything is possible with these guys. Impressive.
I like the way the song starts but it just gets weird after that. This album is weird.
This album is gorgeous. You're weird.
@Anastasya Mayfield you I like you.
@Anastasya Mayfield Not their best. It's got a weird flow.
this song's very U2'esque
LOVE IT!♥
another great song :)
Perhaps their best album.
it doesn't come close to TAYF to me, it's growing on me though
@dolour
and for me, it's WYWTB
Louder Now, Tell All Your Friends and this.
I'm gonna love this album so much. I can see it!
masterpiece, adams voice is unreal again

This song is like two songs in one. Awesome. Pretty good album. Never fails. :)
