Taking Back Sunday - Beat Up Car Lyrics
You can lie to those white coats
But you can't lie to me
There's a difference between
What you want, what you need
Over the rainbow with no end in sight
The rest of your life in plain sight
That just don't feel right
So if you're interested
I'll take you anywhere
I'll buy some beat up car, we could get out of here
I'll take you anywhere that you want to go
I'll take you anywhere that you want to go
I'll take you anywhere if you want to go
But I can't lie to you
Stalled at the gates and that simply won't do
Under artificial light I drink myself blind
I won't watch you kill yourself
(Won't watch you kill yourself)
Or leave you here to rot to death of loneliness
So if you're interested
I'll take you anywhere
I'll buy some beat up car, we could get out of here
I'll take you anywhere that you want to go
I'll take you anywhere that you want to go
I'll take you anywhere if you want to go
(If you want to go?)
A dotted line you'll sign for me
We'll get to work we'll work for cheap
We'll work for us we'll work for free
Pray for job security, show them how it feels to be
Together to admit defeat
To revel in the irony
Some place we can be ourself
We won't watch you kill yourself
Or leave you here to rot to death
So if you're interested
I'll take you anywhere
I'll buy some beat up car, we could get out of here
I'll take you anywhere that you want to go
I'll take you anywhere that you want to go
So if you're interested
I'll take you anywhere
I'll buy some beat up car, we could get out of here
Some place we can be ourself
We won't watch you kill yourself
Or leave you here to rot to death and all of this
I'll take you anywhere that you want to go
(Somewhere you can be yourself)
I'll take you anywhere that you want to go
(I won't watch you kill yourself)
I'll take you anywhere that you want to go

Taking Back Sunday Beat Up Car Comments
wow i was concerned of the new TBS, but i thi nk this is better than their old stuff to be honest
Patric must supply
One of their best imo. That melody is so strong
A FUCKING BOP, I LOVE THIS SONG SO FUCKING MUCH
this song is everything.
The drums in this are so cool
This has been my favorite band since 2006
How could you hate on this album!?
3 more weeks!! CAN'T WAIT!!!
the bridge is absolutely amazing.... it brings me back to TAYF
Taking back Sunday in December! My Hype is nothing but constant!!! This, Stood a chance and Blue Heaven are my dream songs!!
you won't be disappointed. I've seen them 6 times. never miss a show when they come through! one time they didn't come close so I took a road trip clear across Texas to see them
@pl4sticgun
Honestly the best gig of my life.
@Bio The Brit chea! it's always a bad ass time. I'm seeing them in Houston in February. pretty stoked!
New Taking Back Sunday is good. Ever since they got back together and produced this and the album before it, I think they're back on track and doing awesome music.
Bands change, they have too, if every album was a wash and rinse of the previous music wouldnt progress.
That said, Tell all your Friends and Where you Want to Be, are by far, their two best albums.
Been a fan since the start, and I continue to be a fan today. SO many great bands that just aren't around, or arent good today.. Im SO GLAD TBS is the one who made it through.
im kinda gay.
the new album "to me" isn't all that good but this is one of the best songs I've heard in sometime, wish they could of had more like this one.
Even though I feel like TBS has lost a little something since their second album and I hadn't listened to them in a while or seen them in concert since '08, I'm really digging a few of the songs off the new album. This being one of them.
miss the old emo tbs /:
So good! <3
this isn't bad! but whoever thinks this is TBS best album, needs to get their head examined.
@Justin LaserFlips Yes, and I'm sure the examiner would locate something known as an opinion, not sure if you've ever heard of it or anything, but the weird thing is that we all have one.
This album, the one before and New Again just do not stand up anywhere near to WYWTB and Louder Now. Something tells me the Fred had a lot to do with it! I'll be very suprised if they make another album even close to those two!
Louder Now wasn't that good.
This and Better Homes and Gardens, best songs on the album. Even better live, concert was amazing.
i cant stop listening to them back to back omg<3
Out of all their records this is my favorite song by far. Gives me that wish i could leave it all behind and start a new feel.
Love this song <3
My favorite part is seeing that there are people that hate the new TBS and people that love it, a good catalog of music is, well, good. A little bit for everyone. :D
+Cloudsheep93 honestly, I'm new here. I like happiness is but this is the only album by TBS I've heard.
yeah i'm very happy with this cd, I went in with low expectations though cause I haven't cared for their last couple records too much
Love this track - killer chorus!
Metelskim.... R u retarded? The layers both lyrically and musically on this album... Every song... Are by far the most non generic, original, real, beautiful shit I have ever herd and although nothing can beat where you want to be....THIS ALBUM IS A FU&$)@!! Masterpiece!!! Dumbaz
This is a TBS I can get behind. I was obsessed w the first three albums, and there were some cherry tracks on NewAgain. Wasn't a huge fan of self titled BUT they always leave it all out on stage and that's why I will always love these guys. And now here they go again, I'm glad I stuck around and had faith cuz they really hit the nail on the head w this album. TBS RULES, so tell all your friends!
this band is seriously the best
How could you dislike TBS at any point in time.
My initial fav
I don't know why, but this song resonates with me for some reason
Gosh their lyrical content is why i loved this band in their early years. WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU TBS!!
It's about Adams drug problem back in LN days... Damn
One of the best songs off the new album and my favorite song at the moment! I got to see them live last Friday too!
Nope, haven't become better from last time i listened to them a couple of years ago.
When I heard the live released version a while back, I thought.... No, not feeling it. Up until they streamed the album, I continued to think that. BUT, just like EVERY OTHER TBS SONG, after a few listens, I know the words and I love it. :)
This is basically the movie "Mad Love" in a nutshell :)
Don't get me wrong, I love tbs, but I'm just not sure on these songs. Maybe the album will be a grower...
Have you heard "They Don't Have Any Friends" yet? It's brilliant.
Welcome home, TBS.. :)
This is terrible. I can't believe how people get so behind such a generic song. This TBS at their most GENRERIC...
I think Adam's vocal sound is enough to differentiate him from other singers on the radio. Not that TBS gets a ton of radio time anyway....
@metalskim While I respect your opinion, I would encourage you to consider this song's quality compared to a majority of the music released today. I don't think "generic" and "terrible" are quite accurate.
Or you could just appreciate how fucking awesome this chorus is like most of us probably did and leave it at that. I mean i've seen a lot of my favorite bands change quite a bit, understandably, as they've gotten older (Blink 182, Linkin Park..) but you know it it's pretty refreshing to hear only subtle changes that TBS made.. I'd rather have that personally than seeing Linkin Park go to where they were to where they are now.
I personally like the album, love the song. I really don't obsess over it though...I take the songs I like from each album (which is usually a bit over half) and then move on. I like this song and quite a few others on Happiness Is. You can call it 'generic' but their 'generic' rocks imo.
Agreed. New again was fucking awesome, these last two albums not so much
You forgot stood a chance, or whatever its called.
mastered tooooo loud! Pretty catchy. More so at the end.
1:55 - love it
Well... I'm obsessed with this album.
Best track on the entire album. TBS at their greatest, ladies and gentlemen.
first impressions.. one of the best tbs songs I've ever heard
This album sounds a bit experimental...and i like it!!
Parfait! J'taime beaucoupp
Harmonies on this album are very Deja Entendu! Which is great!
They have been playing this live and it is unreal!
👌👏
I love this song!
YEAAAAAAAAAH THAT'S FUCKING GOOD
Amazingly good! This one reminds me of TAYF.
Woah, I love that new sound!
Very nice! Very, very nice to hear Taking Back Sunday again!!
The lead single from this album and the best since make damn sure...
