  2. R.... V....

    730!!!!!!!

  3. c.... ....

Everything starting at 2:11 is perfection.

  4. M.... P....

A newer fan. Just great stuff!

  5. B.... P....

the drums are amazing in this

    B.... P....

Agreed! I've always wondered if the first part was influenced by Chick Corea's Electrik Band and the piece Tale Of Daring - Chapter 3 https://youtu.be/LETs0ljA4EU I always think of it when I listen to The Death of Balance and vice versa. ;-)

  6. O.... ....

I wish they made the whole album based on Requiem.

  7. N.... ....

    Mozart!

  8. a.... ....

The guitar with the organ during the lacrimosa part is so fucking good. I can never get enough of it.

  9. t.... b....

i love hardest metal more.. but i really like this :3

  10. d.... ....

Just realized the main theme is an arrangement of "Mozart - Requiem"..... AMAAAAZINGGGG!!!!!!!

  11. D.... P....

Some of the music on this track sounds like Queen.

  12. P.... R....

This is my Idea of Pure Art!

  13. A.... M....

  17. C.... E....

...most underrated band ever!!!This is a master of armony and tempo changes, and Russel is the best of the best of the best singer!Ever!

    C.... E....

+Carlo Emanuele Manca underrated but fucking good !!

    C.... E....

And now he's talking about leave the band =/

  18. S.... S....

Not quite as much kool as Dark Moor's quoting of Mozart's Dies Irae... Still, Symph X is probably the manliest symphonic metal band there is... though more of prog metal.... though Epica is still my fav. SX are darn good.

    S.... S....

Dark Moor and Epica are child`s playing compare to anything that Symphony X has achieved.

    S.... S....

Well I'd agree that DM is not exactly that much prog... but have you heard Epica's last three albums? The song "Monopoly on Truth" could put a lot of Symph X's work to shame. SX's Iconoclast album is probably their best but it is not exactly symphonic metal at that point. So comparing them to Epica starts becoming apples to oranges.

    S.... S....

@***** In what sense? I would not give them awards for most of their live performances, but the albums are AWESOME.

    S.... S....

Thanks for erasing my last comments, that shows all about you.

    S.... S....

    Hahahahahahahahahaha...

  19. I.... ....

    Exactly!!

  20. I.... ....

Have you ever listen jazz ? DT is very far away from this music, really. Use unusual scale and time signature doesn't mean have jazz influence.

  21. R.... E....

    0:39 jason fucking rullo!!!

  22. m.... ....

I'm sorry to inform that you're wrong. Terribly.

Symphony X and Dream Theater are progressive metal bands, but clearly they evolved from different music roots.

Symphony X have an orchestra/classical music orientation, while Dream Theater have an amazing Jazz root.

That's why SX sound programmed, meticulous, intellectual and epic - just as classical music. DT is fluid and more variable, they sound casual, but really complex - that's the beauty of their sound.

    They can't be compared.

    m.... ....

They're my favourite metal progressive bands. You can see their similarities, but you can also see where they separate from each other. I agree with your comment completely :D

  23. S.... N....

Great reference to Dream Theater's "The Mirror" at 1:30. :)

  24. M.... V....

Amazing .... Long Life Symphony X

  25. H.... ....

For the longest time I didn't know this was Mozart

  26. B.... ....

Why is everyone comparing this to Dream Theater? First of all, it's a genre. Second of all, they're not the only ones who sound that way. Third of all, DT didn't "invent" the style. Fourth of all, give the Devil his due! Finally, most songs sound like other songs, and the number of songs that are similar to the Beatles, Queen, or even Beethoven is staggering. Don't be elitist and think you're better than everyone else because you prefer one band over another or because you were a fan first

  27. W.... ....

So awesome that they put Mozart at the end of this. Russel nails it..

  28. M.... ....

    LMFAO AHAHAHAHAHA

  29. O.... R....

Playing drums for almost 13 years,
    And i agree with you...

  30. C.... P....

lol if you're saying that SX are DT ripoffs, you're sadly mistaken. DT has a style unique to it, with more jazz than classical; SX is more neo-classical. Also, Rullo, Miller/Lepond, and Romeo are better shredders than Portnoy, Myung, and Patrucci, but shredding isn't all there is. Nobody matches Russel in vocals, and Pinella is an AMAZING and creative composer and jazz/classical-pianist. I'd say both bands are equal, but COMPLETELY different, no comparison.

    C.... P....

Romeo is NOT better than Petrucci technically.

  31. A.... ....

I once fell down the stairs and it sounded like this.

  32. T.... ....

    *Facepalm*
Please enlighten me on the "Dream theater" Style and how SX is trying to be like them.

  33. a.... ....

dream theater created the dream theater style, why the other bands trying to be like them, they dont have to do that

  34. A.... V....

That's amazing! Yeah, some parts are similar at dream theater, but SymX are better! Very powerful

  35. d.... l....

    o.O it's very very powerful.... it's incredible!

  36. L.... T....

Let's just say i've redefined my opinions since i wrote this comment, Rullo is absolutely amazing, as is Portnoy. They are both gods at drums, and comparing them is impossible seeing how they play very different styles. (Most would say it's the same shit, but i disagree)

  37. T.... ....

I've been playing drums for 14 years.
What you've said is simply not true.

  38. T.... ....

You're joking, right? Portnoy is a solid drummer, but he is not capable of matching the stuff Rullo did on V.

  39. W.... S....

rullo shits all over portnoy. good work!

  40. j.... a....

    1:36? the mirror, dream theater?

  41. j.... ....

The difference between Rullo and Portnoy is that JR makes the drums for the benefit of the song. Portnoy makes his drum`s parts to show his virtuosity and show off. In that sense, Rullo is great at the level of Neil Peart.
La diferencia entre Rullo y Portnoy es que JR hace las partes de batería en beneficio de la canción. Portnoy hace sus partes de batería para mostrar su virtuosismo y lucirse. En ese sentido, Rullo es genial al nivel de Neil Peart

  42. J.... ....

@Labil32 Wtf, Portnoy is shit compared to Rullo

  43. 1.... ....

@narutoxd002 I can't believe you just said that...

  44. D.... ....

    BRKsEDU mítico.

  45. d.... ....

    Jason Rullo is awesome!!

    /watch?v=Pdt2p_-e11I

  46. L.... T....

@Labil32 Mike Portnoy is incomparable to Jason Rullo

  47. S.... d....

    I've just had an orgasm

  48. S.... H....

    @Labil32 Lmao, gud one.

  49. A.... G....

The awesome moment when Mozart is in the related videos :3

  50. T.... ....

Stop comparing dream theater yet, and my eyes hurt to read both Latin and much nonsense on youtube symphony has nothing to do with either dream theater, opeth, dark suns ...

  51. c.... ....

    @narutoxd002 butthurt dream theater fan

  52. N.... I....

A mulher de compadre mané pedro...

  53. S.... H....

@eydos I totally agree man! This is definitely the most impressive and interesting album the have ever made! They obviously have many other tracks that is mindblowing, but this album is so accomplished.

  54. J.... A....

@Farsight20 On purpose? Or you just mistook the buttons?

  55. H.... ....

100 gazillion times better than the "so far away" guys "dragon force"

  56. c.... ....

SYMPHONY X SUCKS! (Like Primus do... ;)

  57. S.... A....

    i disliked this.

  58. J.... ....

@eydos They're actually one of the most progressive bands- many bands keep a set, successful formula. It's an amazing album, but album after album of this same exact style will get boring. Yes, they could make another one like this and not be boring, but successful experimentation of styles is what makes them prog.

  59. J.... ....

What are the time signatures in this?

  60. a.... l....

@eydos they didnt xD Iconoclast is poor and repetitious

  61. S.... ....

@Labil32 well Mike Portnoy is not that good, Rullo can kick his ass any time, and so all the drummers that went for the audition when he left. :)

  62. M.... ....

    The Mirror Riff

  63. N.... F....

Thanks for the heads up bro. And the jam is rocking.

  64. O.... V....

GENIAL, NO PARO DE ESCUCHARLA, ES VIEJISIMA PERO NO PIERDE EL ENCANTO

  65. T.... B....

@SkyrimPortal agreed they should, IMO, go back to their more proggy style

  66. B.... ....

I love how they quote classical music in their stuff. It's freaking awesome.

  67. M.... D....

this is the best progressive metal song for playing in drums

  68. g.... ....

    best symphony X song!

  69. t.... ....

@BoyMeetsDrum I agree entirely, but it's like.. a thing now. Like it's become almost a trend to constantly mention Dream Theater on Symphony X videos. It's the same thing with comparing Anette and Tarja on Nightwish videos, or saying that so and so many people missed the like button on ANY music video. It's super annoying.

  70. B.... ....

@throughXvioletXeyes No, buut considering DT is one of the influences, MP produced their last album, and DT is a GREAT band, I dont see why its a BAD thing to compare the two. I love both their styles. SymphX brings a more opera feel to it(Which is good, opera is POWERFUL shit), while DT is more technical w/ their playing. All in all theyre both GREAT bands and I think that there SHOULD be SymphX comments on DT pages, just so that DT fans who HAVENT heard of SymphX can listen to them, and enjoy.

  71. R.... C....

@Karafliazoproora I agree with you at the present, but years back when I initially heard Symphony X, those were my first impressions!

  72. p.... ....

omg.. i love the beginning.. its like the coolest song out there....

  73. t.... ....

Come now guys. I don't see any Symphony X comments on Dream Theater stuff. I realize there is a comment already like this.. but..

  74. b.... ....

seriously. this band takes music onto a next level. fuck today's mainstream music with all its garbage media. THIS IS EPIC

  75. R.... C....

@SergioWW1WW2 Hahah I read this and couldn't help but reply. I love both drummers, I really do, but if anything my first impressions of SX were "hmm the drumming sounds automated..." until I grew accustomed to them. I don't think this way anymore, but still. It's just interesting to me how you accuse Portnoy of sounding exactly how I thought Rullo sounded originally. In the end it just depend on how much effort you put into appreciating different bands and different musicians...they're all great

  76. S.... ....

i dont like portnoy, he sounds like a midi, but Rullo sounds like a person, thats why i like this drummer, sounds real!!!

  77. S.... ....

Dream Theater were one of the best prog bands out there.
They lost it after they released Systematic Chaos.
    In my opinion.
They're all still great, but in terms of prog, they never went any further than the killing spree they had from Images and Words to Octavarium.

  78. F.... C....

make me think about THE CHICK COREA ELEKTRIC BAND in "inside out"(1990 the tune "child's play of tale daring"(track 10).
i recommand you this piece this is an amazing dual between keys and drums(corea with weckl)
it pushes out the human abilities about mastering of instrument and music

  79. '.... S....

slip of the mind, good sir. its ok man

  80. L.... T....

    Epic!
The drums at the start are insane.
We're talking Mike Portnoy-insane, and thats saying ALOT.

  81. S.... ....

I dunno how I managed to forget them... they're actually one of my fav bands...:D sorry.

  82. S.... ....

Makes me kinda wish I was gay. ^^ Enjoy the world of progressive music, my friend, for I am enjoying mine.

  83. S.... ....

thanks a lot, really. I always try to escape banal things in life. And prog is anti-banal music for definition. and we should say we forgot so many bands there. sieges even, king crimson, pink floyd, yes, genesis, opeth, al di meola, into eternity, fates warning, LTE, mastodon, queensryche, meshuggah, planet x, rush.... so many brilliant bands out there that play wonderful music.

  84. S.... ....

Upon stating those bands, you have proved yourself as a man with taste.

  85. S.... ....

This track is absolutely amazing. Lacrymosa serves to prove that Symphony X can play whatever they want, and still remain melodic and interesting to listen to. As a prog-addict I must say; bravo!

  86. k.... ....

    Oh, Eric! Eric Cartman right?

  87. E.... ....

    Lacrimosa dies illa,
    qua resurget ex favilla
    judicandus homo reus

  88. S.... ....

oooh my god... everytime I listen to this song I get an orgasm...XD

dream theater, porcupine tree, symphony X, pain of salvation, tool... what would my life be without them??

  89. t.... ....

i had this album now i cant find it , im pissed off!

  90. T.... ....

This is the only song on the album that has an ending! Apart from the last song obviously

  91. d.... ....

my winter drumline is doing this show and were in open class
its a badass show also a badass song

  92. A.... M....

increible del mejor metal progresivo q existe

  93. S.... A....

    grande!
