Syd Barrett - Wolfpack Lyrics

Howling the pack in formation appears
Diamonds and clubs, light misted fog, the dead
Waving us back in formation
The pack in formation

Bowling they bat as a group
And the leader is seen so early
The pack on their backs, the fighters
Through misty the waving, the pack in formation
Far reaching waves on sight, shone right
I lay as if in surround

All enmeshing, hovering
The milder I gaze
All the animals laying trail
Beyond the bough winds
Mild the reflecting electricity eyes

Tears, the life that was ours
Grows sharper and stronger away and beyond
Short wheeling, fresh spring
Gripped with blanched bones moaned
Magnesium, proverbs and sobs

Howling the pack in formation appears
Diamonds and clubs, light misted fog, the dead
Waving us back in formation
The pack in formation

Happy Birthday, SYD BARRETT (January 6, 1946)! With the "Clowns and Jugglers" in this pack of wolves running our Underworld, we still desperately need your lyrics and humor to invigorate our lurch from the "Fun House".

Great stuff. Was Gilmour in there, filling in the loose and aimless bits with swirls of instrumentation, helping Syd get to the end? I feel the answer is 'yes'.

    A.... P....

    Syd's playing lead. Sorry.

    A.... P....

This sounds like Syd, but Rick is there doing that

    A.... P....

@Adominae Gilmour was on bass if I correctly remember

    A.... P....

Sitra Achra Yes, that is true . I think he also played some 12 string on the album but Syd played most of it.

  11. H.... H....

Why does his voice remind me of Peter Gabriel?

  12. j.... m....

Perfect Lead Guitar. Syd blows away Gilmour's generic guiturds easily.

    j.... m....

    Stop comparing, idiot.

    j.... m....

Ye fr they were in two completely different worlds, each of them Masters in their own writes

This was Syd:s favorite, said by him in one of his last official interviews.

  16. M.... D....

In my opinion, one of the best lyrics Syd ever wrote

    M.... D....

    Syd would agree .

  17. F.... M....

Amazing song! This album is great, so obscure, so deep...

WELL, THOR, THE MUSIC SOMETIMES BECOMES SO UNIVERSAL THAT, EVEN SPANISH PEOPLE OR MEXICAN PEOPLE (IN MY CASE)....YOU DON´T HAVE TO BE AN ENGLISH GENTLEMAN OR AN AMERICAN CITIZEN TO LOVE THE ENGLISH/AMERICAN MUSIC. LET ME PUT IT THIS WAY: IDON´T LIKE MOST OF THE MEXICAN/SPANISH MUSIC (YEEAH, I'M AN ASSHOLE)...I REALLY LOVE ENLGLISH MUSIC: THE DOORS, FLOYD, HENDRIX, JANIS, VELVET UNDERGROUND, JOY DIVISION, DEAD CAN DANCE...ETC

    j.... r....

+juan roberto Navarro I really like some Spanish medieval music.. also flamenco sounds can be wonderful if done right.

    j.... r....

juan roberto Navarro like most of the bands you named :) youre right!

    j.... r....

    tu te calmes oh

  20. p.... ....

    I love this masterpiece.

  21. T.... N....

... love the song, great post, but I'm just kinda blown away about the Spanish comments, how does one listen to this, and not know English?

    T.... N....

+Thor Nunley I don't think it's that they don't know English. It's just that Spanish is their first language, and I've noticed today's youth of Spanish-speaking countries are more hip to psychedelic rock than the youth of English-speaking countries. Well, more hip to it than the youth of America, at least.

    T.... N....

Only people who speak English are not receptive to other languages. Outside the Anglo Saxon Empire we are open to other cultures. Most of us speak more than one language and enjoy music from all over the world. That's how Anglosaxon culture is becoming so poor and irrelevant, that happens because it's getting too conservative and isolationist. It is a form of cultural censorship. They are forbidden to get exposed to anything out of the corporative capitalism.

    T.... N....

@LANDO ORCHESTRAGLOBOLA - da 10 anni sulla cresta dell'ombra yeah totally not leftwing ideologue who support hate speech and other freedoms like gun ownership haven't been doing their part to tear down the west and you can add feminists who support Islam.

  22. B.... N....

wow what a huge coincidence, I just read this elsewhere

    B.... N....

That evolution eventually brought us a wonder like this? Who knows what is and what is not a coincident anyway when it all comes down to it.

  23. j.... ....

Magnesium proverbs and sobs... All too true!

Still looking at the strength of the phone signal!

@Μανωλης Φιολακης what does your mysterious scribblings mean?

  24. t.... ....

This song was said to be one of Syd favorite song. I can see why

  25. D.... A....

No se hasta que punto es ya mas conocido. Quizas no tan comprendido.
La pena es cuando se le considera un drogadicto o algo por el estilo, solo por el echo de estar en medio de un movimiento fomentado por las drogas.
El era un crack y punto. Llamalo crack llamalo genio.
