Sweet - Tall Girls Lyrics

Straight out of school and they're on the street
Don't know much 'bout the people they meet
Can't find a way to speak
When their legs are tired and weak
Tall girls, tall girls on their knees
Short girls, short girls stand and ease
Seventeen think they know the score
Soon found out there's a whole lot more
Feel the need, feel it ache
Mind and body start to shake
Tall girls, tall girls on their knees
Short girls, short girls stand and ease
Disco here, disco there
They've been picked up everywhere
Looking straight into the eyes
Are they thinking 'bout the size
Tall girls, tall girls on their knees
Short girls, short girls stand and ease
They sure stand and ease
Ooh, ooh, yeah, yeah
It's the tall girls
The tall girls on their knees
Wow
Ooh, the short girls
The short girls stand and ease

Given Steve's height, this would describe most girls. ❤ Great song, BTW, nevermind my thing for short red-haired ginger bass guitarists.

  2. A.... U....

There were one and the only man who could have replaced Brian and he was Ian Gillan, maybe even Robert Plant, but I doubt, they both would have said, sorry boys, but no thanx.....Maybe Gillan would have been the right solution.

What do you do with tall girls.....Put their legs in the air 😍

  4. B.... F....

    brilliant!

  5. S.... ....

i love steve's vocals....and he is a bad ass bass player....andy just rocks it, consistently !!!!! love them, ALWAYS !!!! such a distinct sound !!!!!!

Ian Gillan or Robert Plant would have replaced Brian. Maybe then if possible the rock press have respected them more. I am sorry, but Steve wasn´t a real frontman, good voice, but lack of the charisma what they needed so bad. Ronnie James Dio either wasn´t the man in charge. Robert Plant would be.
But it would sound funny and looked silly him to sing Little Willy or Co-Co.

    A.... U....

or David Coverdale from Whitesnake, strong excellent voice - and very cool man.

  7. G.... F....

Very nice song! Even if Brian Connolly left the band.

great band and song lacked the frontman they should have replaced brian it worked for bands like purple fleetwood mac uriah heep to name 3 .saw them in 81 on there last uk tour brilliant.saw brians sweet twice he colapsed after a few songs then the next time.like the first his voice wasnt great and his band a poor imitation of sweet.

    J.... O....

    BK was a GREAT vocalist!

  9. T.... t....

    Shit without Brian Connolly

    T.... t....

it's less good without Brian Connolly but not shit..
Better than many "Rock bands" of today.
    Greetings from Paris, France!

Brilliant  track from  sweet...but  what  else  would  you  expect.Great  lyrics...." tall  girls on their knees"!!

  11. T.... ....

Musically one of Sweets most under-rated songs ; and another good guitar solo from Andy !

  12. T.... ....

Yeah , I am aware that Andy sang the high pitched component within Sweet's four voiced harmonies .What I am referring to is the general vocal pitch of Steve's typical vocal delivery as heard on Sweet recordings .To hear Steve talking (even back in 70's interviews ) I would find it surprising if too many people would successfully match his talking voice to his recorded singing voice. Sweet were never regarded as being 'cool' here in the UK but so what? They have always been favourites of mine !

  13. s.... ....

Actually it was Andy who did the high pitched (falsetto) harmonies, but yes, Steve does have a very deep speaking voice. All the band were great singers.

  14. T.... ....

It has always been a mystery to me how Steve had such a high pitched singing voice and yet his normal talking voice was / is deeper than what most men have !

  15. e.... ....

Steve Priest is a great singer.

  16. D.... ....

Just the problem no one really could have replaces Brian :P
so I think they did right, even if I dont like Steve as singer that much :O perhaps they should have let Andy sing ;) . Oh man they all could sing ;) .
    Amazing song :)

  17. j.... o....

great song vocals and harmonies just like the old sweet only they sliped.up no frontman
they should have replaced brian. with somebody. bigger bands did .
purple. queen did it.still great memories of one of the best rock bands ever

  18. R.... G....

this belongs on the air 4 everyone 2 share everywhere

  19. s.... ....

@Gordomusic1 "Oh Yeah!" was the B-side to the German release of "Sixties Man". You will probably have seen by now that I have uploaded the song in all its glory. Thanks for your comments.

  20. G.... ....

    Hey silksashbash
Wasn't "Oh Yeah" the b side to one of the singles off Waters Edge?

  21. G.... ....

Love this song. Thanks for uploading. Its just that little bit naughty and I think its way better than the two a sides which it backed and that weren't written by Sweet. Go figure that.
