I've always heard a great similarity between The Sweet and Queen. But you can't say one copied the other. They literally came up and emerged at the same time. Two bands doing similar styles to a superb level at the same time. Queen had more bite and of course Freddie's vocals are unmatched even today.

This was the band chosen to promote various records for a producer/record company. They may have sang on their records but certainly didn't play on them. Neither had they anything to do with writing the hits.

It's criminal how underrated this band remain. Later rock bands like Motley Crue site them as a major influence, it really does amaze me how they aren't held in the same esteem as other rock bands from the UK. Sometimes think their glam rock edge cost them credibility, which is bullshit because glam rock was more than just a fun glitzy phase. It was a music movement with memorable and genuine talent - Bolan, Bowie, Roxy Music, Sweet, Slade, all of which have influenced later musicians. Without these acts music would never have progressed as it did.

CoCo was my first Sweet record bought with paper round money at the age of 16 in 1971. Bought every Sweet single up to Fox on the Run in 1975.

I don't think this song got any airplay in the United States in 1971 when I was 11, but now I can't get it out of my mind here at age 59. Coco survives the test of time.
