Supremes, The - The House Of The Rising Sun Lyrics
There is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor girl
And God I know I'm one
Sewed my new blue jeans
My father was a gamblin' man
Down in New Orleans
Now the only thing a gambler needs
Is a suitcase and trunk
The only time he's satisfied
Is when he's on a drunk
Oh, mother tell your children
Spend your lives in chear misery
In the House of the Rising Sun
Well, there is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many poor girl
And God I know I'm one

Supremes, The The House Of The Rising Sun Comments
I want to hear every version of this song ever
Go home devil. You lost. The ladies smashed your ass.
2:55 I mean. This is un worldly
Diana Ross sounds like Minnie Mouse on this recording
me, too. peace.
Wow!!! how beautiful they sounded together...Simply Amazing The Supremes were. Long Live The Supremes!!!!!!
Fantastic The Supremes.
Diana Ross. The best.
The guitar has the sound of my old Fender solid maple telecaster. I never really liked the darn thing. It weighed a ton!
Does anybody know of a live recording of this in concert?
Another thing that stands out to me in this recording is the completely even tempo of the song. The musicians never ran away with it. This usually means it was a lot and lot of rehearsing until it was done right. Something that is hard to do these days. Back then I bet the girls had to work harder and longer and were motivated to get out of where they came from and make it
02:58. Just hauntingly beautiful vocals. I wish they did that a few more times
I hope people learn to appreciate what a good voice sounds like, without too much electronic patching up. This is really nice. And I like the thumping bass playing
I had the CD The Supremes A Bit Of Liverpool someone stole it from my collection I also had The Supremes sing Weston Country and pop The Supremes sing Roger and Hart gone but I do have The Supremes We Remember Sam Cook. I love Flo version of Aint that good news.
I have always like this kind of music. I know where to go to find my golden oldies .

Que voces tan lindas.
Always heard the rumor that this one was originally to be all Flo, and that's why she's so prominent here. The song does only pick up after she starts, really. Love it because of her. It's just not in Diana's range.
i am so glad you enjoyed it!
This is a wonderful photo montage. The "A Bit Of Liverpool" was The Supremes love letter to the boy brit bands of the day. A big gamble on their record label's part, which may not have paid off they way they had hoped, but what a cool legacy to vocal prowess of The Supremes to have pulled this off, and so well to (beatles) boot!
1 of my favorite Supreme album covers. This cover isn't too shabby either.
