Supremes, The - Slow Down Lyrics

Don't run so fast, love
Slow down and let me catch you baby

I've got a story to tell
About a girl I know well
She loved this guy
Heaven knows why
How could she love him

Everytime this guy she'd see
With another girl he'd be
He didn't even notice
She was crying

Don't run so fast, love
Slow down and let me catch you baby

She'd choose her clothes with care
She'd curl and set her hair
And hope someday, that he'd look her way
He was too busy

He was always on the run
Breaking hearts and havin' fun
He couldn't see she was the one that needed him

Each night she'd cry in fear
That he would never hear
Her heart and soul cry out
I know it's love beyond a doubt

By now you all must see
This girl I know is me
Though I feel like crying
I won't stop trying to make him love me

I've shown you a part of my soul
But many things I've left untold
Until he's mine to have and hold
Forever

Don't run so fast, love
Slow down and let me catch you baby
I need your arms around me tight, baby
Slow down
Slow down, baby

Supremes, The Slow Down Comments

i knew this version before i knew Tammi Terrell did it. I prefer the Supremes version. :-)

I like this song very much. In fact, I was just thinking about this one today... The background vocals of "set her hair" always struck me as funny... (Simply "OOH, Ooh, ooh" would have worked better... As suc it seems SO campy.)

  3. W.... E....

Fab track . . . should have made it to "Cream Of The Crop"...

  4. S.... J....

Motown's writers had always given cover songs to different Motown artist to record this particular song is on the Supremes never before release CD on this CD it has most of the Disney song that was not released until now. There's also a song that Smoke Robinson written called Sweet Thing, Mr. Blues and my favorite Too Much A Little Too Soon.

  5. A.... S....

    Tammi's is better

  6. A.... S....

Tammi was able to hold notes longer, like on "run". But if I had been Gordy this would've been the version I'd release. Tammi's version jives better with Jamerson's bass. I'd like to hear Stevie's version.

  7. M.... S....

never heard tammi nor this. definately not hit material

  8. A.... S....

The Tammi Terrell version is my favorite, but this is good.
