Sundays, The - Skin & Bones Lyrics

You know, and I've been wondering
You know, all the way home
Whether the world will see
I'm a better man than others by far
And you know, I've had it so good
Yeah but how loathsome
It's not quite my style
Work and vanity
Wasted my time inside

Oh, you see me in a cardigan
In a dress, dress, dress that I've been sick on
Oh, how are you?
Can't say I really care at the end of it all

Actually, oh, well there's something I've found
It's that we're just flesh and blood
Well, now, just one thing I've found
It's that we're just flesh and blood

And you know, and I've been wondering
You know, all the way home
Whether the world will see
I'm a better man than others by far

Ooh, how are you?
I shan't say I really care at the end of it all
Actually, oh, there is something I've found
It's that we're just flesh and blood
Well, now, there's one thing I've found
It's that we're just skin and bones
Actually, oh, there's something I've found
It's that we're just flesh and blood
And we're nothing much more
There's something, just something I've found
It's that we're just flesh and blood
And we're nothing much more

Oh no, what did I do wrong?
Oh no, what did I do wrong?
Individual doubts
Just one thing I've found
We are just flesh and blood
Nothing much more
Something, just something I've found
That we're skin and bones
Yeah...

Sundays, The Skin & Bones Comments
  1. J.... V....

First song I heard Harriet’s voice. OMG what an introduction! Still one of, if not the best female vocalist ever. Not enough superlatives. So unique, soulful, and angelic. 👏 👏 👏❤️

  2. V.... M....

    I love you!

  3. S.... ....

On this day (1.15.20) in 1990 Rough Trade Records released this record. 🤍🖤 Great record all the way thru. Flows so effortlessly...

  4. m.... f....

Takes me wa-a-a-y back, the jagermeister days (nights)

  5. T.... B....

I can totally hear this song covered by a jazz quintet with soprano sax.

  6. T.... D....

Ace. Just ace. Bliss. Just Bliss.

  7. M.... ....

The "dislikes" are from jealous angels above.
They know Harriet is far better than Heaven's best.

  8. k.... a....

A majestic album from a majestic year for albums!

  9. J.... ....

I had the cassette-single of "Here's Where The Story Ends"/"Skin and Bones".... and there were times where I'd just play that on a loop in my car stereo when making 45-60 minute drives up to see friends.

  10. E.... S....

Might I add , I was at there , the Blind tour . Postponed because Ms. Wheeler was ill . Well worth the wait.

  11. E.... S....

The song that started it all for me ,...

  12. B.... A....

    sublime

  13. D.... ....

Harriet Wheeler, it gets no better than her.

  14. A.... A....

as great as any smiths song

  15. S.... ....

For someone who was in her mid 20s when recording this, Harriet had such a nice, youthful voice!

    S.... ....

Of course, mid-20's and youthful seem to go hand in hand.

    S.... ....

@bigsid54 What I meant is that she sounds 14 while singing this.

    S.... ....

@Satoshi9801 when i first heard this song i was convinced she was a teenager, like 14-17. it caught me off guard

  16. E.... L....

    College yrs nostalgia ,NYC

  17. V.... H....

12 unfortunate people have temporal lobe damage.

    V.... H....

That's weird, I don't understand why people don't just move along to another video if they don't like something, maybe they feel like "i wasted my time on this video so there 👎 take that". I usually don't even notice the thumbs up or down.

    V.... H....

it's gone up to 16, sadly.

    V.... H....

Seriously, how can anyone dislike this? Harriet's voice brings me to my knees. Every single song these guys gave us is pure perfection! Thanks for posting!

    V.... H....

Vincent Hos Feel sorry for anyone who can’t appreciate Harriet and the Sundays. They’re obviously lacking an important sense.

  18. P.... P....

    A treasure for the commonwealth.

  19. T.... F....

    Chino brought me here.

    T.... F....

One of the greatest albums of all time, thanks for posting.

  23. T.... C....

I have just found this song on a cassette tape and played it on my retro technics system. It blew my mind how good it was. Many happy memories of this listening to this album in the 90's. Criminally underrated!..

    T.... C....

Tomsk Corkhill I still play it to this day, it's been a solid album since its release 👍

    T.... C....

This takes me back to 2009... I had just moved into a new house and didn't have any furniture or sound system. I had just bought a TV and Blu-Ray player, and this was the only CD I had that wasn't packed in a box so I listened to it over and over through the TV. :)

  24. D.... N....

Fall 91. I went over this girl's house in Groton Massachusetts that I knew from my little sister's overnight camp. I had this CD with me. I asked her if she knew them. She she said "yeah, my mom bought it and plays it all the time." I was like "Holy Shit, I'm starting to listen to mom music!"... Well, here I am, still listening to mom music. If you're out there Lily Moore I haven't forgotten.

  25. D.... S....

    This stuff is good stuff!

  26. E.... R....

She's so adorable, love her :-)

    E.... R....

:...an individual doubt, that reality :-)

  27. P.... P....

    The voice of an Angel.

  28. T.... ....

    ♥ ♥ ♥

  29. A.... G....

Weird how Harriet Wheeler turned me on to the Rolling Stones "Wild Horses"..!

  30. r.... ....

listen to this all the time my freshman year of college on tape cassete walkman in '91....wondering around ohio university

    r.... ....

same here but fall ‘90 fordham university nyc

  31. m.... ....

What an Amazing voice Harriet has. This song is the definition of nostalgia.

  32. T.... T....

I loved her at 14 to 45 lol

  33. B.... J....

They were in the muse here - but it got away from them. They just weren't ambitious in chasing it. Always thought David & Harriet have some great demos put away we'd all love to hear - (ie from the early era).

  34. A.... T....

can't say i really care at the end of it all-

  35. M.... S....

Silly Harriett. Actually we are much more than just flesh and blood. We're human beings on a spiritual journey to heaven or eternal damnation. The Bible explains it clearly. :-)

    M.... S....

The Sundays Music I enjoy The Sundays' music very much, but I am not blind and deaf. I can question the content and scrutinize lyrics that go against my values, even from a band that I am very fond of.

    M.... S....

You know what's silly, saying that atheists are sad people and that entertainment is their god, you are a silly girl with a book with lots of silly values.

    M.... S....

Marbella Silver What the fuck is wrong with? Get out of this orbit, bitch!

    M.... S....

    “Dust thou art,
and unto dust shalt thou return”

    M.... S....

They are deceivers like all in the entertainment industry.

  36. D.... L....

I'm taken back in time listening to this. Thanks for the upload! Such an underrated album, it's almost like a work of magic. Good stuff. Those were the days, no? Lol.

Here are the lyrics if anyone's interested!

You know, and I've been wondering

  38. S.... G....

  39. t.... ....

    Once under the spell..........

  40. D.... C....

So fucking good . I have tears in my eyes

  41. E.... K....

Damn, that sweet Harriet sings the hell out of this.

  42. K.... ....

Static and silence is a good album. Blind is the best album... But Reading, writing and arithmethics is a masterpiece album.

    K.... ....

I must agree! Reading, Writing and Arithmetic is their best album in my opinion...but we all have different tastes. In fact that album would be on my desert island list. Definitely one of my top 10 favorite albums of all time!!!...Up there with anything from Led Zep, Who, Boston, U2, Pink Floyd, Journey, Stones, Cars and Rush!

    K.... ....

I agree but to me Blind and RRA are about equal with Blind getting the slightest edge. But both are simply incredible.

    K.... ....

Blind is more refined like they had more practice in the studio. RRA is passion in every song, and Harriet singing her ass off.

    K.... ....

RWaA is their best, no doubt.

    K.... ....

The Sundays got discovered by influential DJ John Peel and he made them his top act of 1989. The band had precious little time to come up with an album's worth of material, but they moved heaven and earth in the studio & were able to capitalize on their quickly found fame in early 1990, with a successful tour and record for people to buy‼️ 🎹🎸🎵🎶❤️

  43. m.... ....

    Amazing singing!

  44. C.... H....
