When my mom told me that we wouldn't be going to my grandma's for christmas and would be having it at our aunt's instead, I thought of this song. I'll still be with my whole family, but it won't feel the same. This song paints such a beautiful, cathartic picture of christmas between two people who love each other and don't have much to share aside from that love. I'm in college now, and I have a feeling that this song will be taking on even more meaning for me in the coming years.

This may even be my favourite sufjan song of all time. It paints a picture of Christmas that I had never dreamed of.Its almost the exact opposite of what I hope for and want. Perhaps only sufjan could come up with this. achingly beautiful and sad although the singer has what he wants. I never cease to be amazed and moved by Sufjan
