Sufjan Stevens - Chicago (Multiple Personality Disorder Version) Lyrics
I fell in love again
All things go, all things go
Drove to Chicago
All things know, all things know
We sold our clothes to the state
I made a lot of mistakes
In my mind, in my mind
You came to take us
All things go, all things go
To recreate us
All things grow, all things grow
We had our mindset
All things know, all things know
You had to find it
I drove to New York
In the van, with my friend
We slept in parking lots
I don't mind, I don't mind
I was in love with the place
In my mind, in my mind
I made a lot of mistakes
In my mind, in my mind
You came to take us
All things go, all things go
To recreate us
All things grow, all things grow
We had our mindset
All things know, all things know
You had to find it
All things go, all things go
If I was crying
In the van, with my friend
It was for freedom
From myself and from the land
I made a lot of mistakes
I made a lot of mistakes
I made a lot of mistakes
I made a lot of mistakes
You came to take us
All things go, all things go
To recreate us
All things grow, all things grow
We had our mindset
All things know, all things know
You had to find it
All things go, all things go
You came to take us
All things go, all things go
To recreate us
All things grow, all things grow
We had our mindset
(I made a lot of mistakes)
All things know, all things know
(I made a lot of mistakes)
You had to find it
(I made a lot of mistakes)
All things go, all things go
(I made a lot of mistakes)

Sufjan Stevens Chicago (Multiple Personality Disorder Version) Comments
I tried to record my own obsessive compulsive disorder version but I couldn't ever decide which instrumentals to use 😪
Multiple personality disorder version haha 😂
HA!!!!!!
i dont see why it's called the MPD version.. seems kinda weird and uh, rude 2 me? i love u sufy but i need an explanation.
exactly. sufjan sings a lot that speaks to me, i just dont understand why it had to be called something relating to a serious Big deal with no context is all. i just want to understand why he did it?
Jame Dont ok, but is he really trivializing mental illness or just using a play on words to describe the song? I mean, he could use the word "idiot" and be "trivializing mental illness". So ask yourself: does this REALLY matter or are you just offended for no reason?
Chase Pendleton its just an older incorrect term, the correct term is dissociative identity disorder, and personally i would be a bit put off by his usage of either term in this regard.
Chase Pendleton p.s. Its not up to u to decide whats offensive and whats not if it doesnt personally resonate against your identity then you have a different frame of reference. Just my two cents. People using the words insane and crazy is offensive to me but to some "normies" they are like "oh come on whats the big deal" because those words are not used in a derogatory fashion against them they dont understand. It IS insensitive
Chase Pendleton, i'm not offended even. if you think i'm just being a #triggered sjw then i guess that's your thing. but this is literally just a rational conversation about mental illness not being a funny thing. and in terms of the "idiot" thing. like yeah... but that's such an old term that it's not even remotely clinical anymore. no one is like "oh that poor child has idiocy". also Ty Woodward i would assume the reason he named the song this way is just because he was not educated about these things. We have to take into account the fact that even in just the past decade the stigma surrounding mental illness has changed. obviously the stigma is still there. but a slightly larger number of people is aware of the fact that mental illness is not funny.
2:35 cracks me up.
+Jonathan Rickert why? i thought that bit was really cool
+Jep Hep It is cool! It's just that the instrumentation changes so radically and so quickly, it totally catches me off guard when I hear it. Sufjan's a genius for putting it in, though.
yea tru tru
Brilliant - sounds as if Sufjan generally should give more room to his other personalities / musical crossdressing, esp. Tijuana Brass fits him very well
love this version!
Drugs version
this is what drugs are like??? I wanna do drugs!!!!!!!!
@Super Hans do drugs and get bitchez
@Garhar Fodays that's the circle of life, baby
Super Hans no, drugs ain't good, it ruins your life
Love the sound!!!
Almost sounds like it belongs on Adz
All versions of this song are the best!
+Leonard Dixon Well, Mr. Dixon. I believe you do not know the meaning of the word "best".
+ImAGrateSpellr - It means that I am able to discern the various and different qualities in each version.
All things go, all things go.
I really love this version <3
fuckin loooove this version
I love this version. This was the first version I heard, actually.
Ik heb dat liedje net opgezocht, dat is echt wel meer dan een noot hoor
Wow, the instrumentation is great!
In a van.
I miss ______.
@bobbieperufx oh yes. Mew is well worth mentioning here.
Ehh... Acoustic, normal and Adult Contemporary Version is way better than this but it's interesting and I'm glad they tried it.
I love it when artists make different versions of their own songs. It's a sentiment to the versatility of his skills as a songwriter, a composer, and a producer. Ben Folds is another notable artist with this talent.
If I was crying in the van, with my freind, it was beacuse this song is awesome.
!

Inderdaad haha, hij is echt geniaal
