Suede - The 2 Of Us Lyrics
Lying in my bed, I think of you
That song goes through my head, the one we both knew
In each line lies another line full of sacred sound
But you're outside where the companies dream and the money goes round
Watching my mistakes,
I listen to the band they said that it could be the 2 of us
The snow might fall and write the lines on the silent page
But you're outside making permanent love to the nuclear age
Two silhouettes by the cash machine make a lovers dance
It's a tango for the lonely wives of the business class
Lying in my bed
Watching my mistakes
Lying in my bed
With nothing much to say so I listen to the man
He said that it could be the 2 of us
I heard you call from across the city through the stereo sound
And so I crawled there sickeningly pretty as the money went round
Lying in my head watching my mistakes
I listen to the band
And the drums beat in my head
Pianos chime the sound in this prison of the house
And as the illness comes again can you hear me through the rain
As I listen to the band?
As I sing the silent song
Mime each lonely word
Please listen to the man he said that it could be the 2 of us
Alone but not lonely, you and me
Alone but loaded.........

What's with that scratching thing during the piano interlude? Am I the only one who gets irritated, like someone owns a mishandled vinyl?
sad but beautiful..intro......Lying in my bed..watching my mistakes...
Sublime; épica y lírica hasta la extenuación..
So gentle so true
When you sing this song in your head, does the lyrics of the 3rd chorus (right after "sickeningly pretty as the money went round") go with "Lying in my BED" or "Lying in my HEAD"? I find it interesting that in the "Official guitar book" (published by PolyGram, Order No. AM927828, ISBN 0-7119-4862-3), the lyrics page (page 6) shows it's "bed", and in the score (page 68) it's "head" 🤪
Bretts voice is so tender and full of emotion. He was on fire.
What a superb lyrics with music within ...
It could be the two of us ...
Those lyrics with the appropriate thoughts would come all together ...
When I got stuck I think of Sir Frank Williams of @WilliamsF1 and voice of Brett is perfect..Should there be a mixture to redifine 90's with 00's .. No more 00 comments please ... I don't want to mean on it ...
love to play this one on the piano, so emotive
I told her that it could be two of us and we are two of us for quarter of a century .... Thanks Brett and Suede ..
This guy, Brett Anderson, is somebody else when he is before a microphone. He doesn't show off in interviews, allowing himself to hang loose, like a feather of no consequence. He knows where to weigh his ambition down...that's to music and to achieve excellence. True mark of ambition.
Pure art! Very good song!
Uhh, yeah, best band ever. Sorry everyone else, you get 2nd place.
aaaaaah. Love this band.
fuckin' hell...such a beautiful song :,(
💗💗💗
My soul aches...
They tried to make again that magic in ''Song for the migrant worker'' by The Tears... but it was not the same anymore. :( miss their talent. They were one of the best Art Alchemies ever, like Moz and Marr.
The perfect, total, alchemy between the immortal 2 ....Brett Anderson & Bernard Butler. One of the best things they composed together. Desperate, sad, intense, stunning, melancholic, painful, nostalgic..... I do love it since 1994 and I always will.
his voice passes through the entire me and leaves me with chills
I'm drowned and overtaken with his beauty
Sublime vocals. Mr. Anderson.

great song ! Hauntingly beautiful
one of their greatest without hesitation!!intensity growing slowly until the final; majestic!!
My favourite still years later xx
such a beauty....
It's just a matter of time that I have learned from all of my life
I remember being 16, listening to this after breaking up with my first love...feeling like the world was crashing down.
+jake b ----- This was me in 1993-94. It still stings blissfully to remind me how profoundly beautiful emotion remains!
I can completely relate to what you just said. I was in love but the closest I got to claiming the one I loved was a kiss. This song got me through some dreadful times. I'm glad you said what you did bro. I was 16 too.
you guys got girlfriends now?
Anderson and butler are the lennon and mccartney for the 90s. dog man star is one of rocks best contributions
virgorouge Anderson is the surname of Suede’s frontman.
I'll take Anderson and Butler over either, thanks. I've heard baby boomers rattle on about The Beatles enough that they've ruined them for me for my life.
esta canción es un monumento
La épica hecha canción. ¿Y ese final? "Alone, but not lonely...". Espectacular. Grandioso. Cuando Suede era el grupo destinado a salvar la música -y nuestras vidas.
Saw them live in October in Manchester, and wow. My first concert, but it was glorious.
Takes me back back every time !
Lo mejor !!!
Unmatched!
theres a lot of cracks in this picture! ahem!!! ha ha ha. jokes aside,i love this song.its amazing.
Grandioso tema
I totally agree Zilvia, and SUEDE is one of the eternal bands...
I think it's one of the best songs I've heard. Love it
