Suede - She's Not Dead Lyrics

she'll come to her end locked in a car somewhere with exhaust in her hair
What's she called? I dunno, she's fucking with a slip of a man while the engine ran

And he said "She's not dead, she's gone away, gone away" he said
He said "She's not dead, just go away go away" he said

In the car he couldn't afford they found his made up name on her ankle chain
so don't call, don't call her at home
she's fucking with a slip of a man while the engine ran

and he said "she's not dead, she's gone away gone away" he said
he said "she's not dead, she's gone away gone away"
he said "just gone away, gone away" he said
she's gone away to someone else's bed

just reading about this in Brett Anderson's brilliant autobiography...about the joint suicide of his Aunt and her lover

  4. F.... ....

My favourite Suede song.  Beautiful.  As I pay almost no attention to lyrics I didn't realise it was about suicide.  In saying that I was always struck by the 'fucking with a slip of a man' line.  The band play, and Brett sings beautifully..

  5. E.... ....

Here because Cobain was an apparent fan and Radiohead were highly influenced. Great fuckin shit!

  6. C.... D....

I saw suede open up for counting crows in NYC in 1994. b butler looked down at us from his hotel room after the show

  8. b.... ....

i went camping in the harrimans a few months later and forgot the shirt in a guy's trunk. i want it back!

i saw suede in nyc in 1994 or so. the counting crows opened up for them. rambunctious nyc crowd threw glass beer bottles at adam durvitz. suede came on and the crowd was wowed. everyone loved them. after the show the crowd was leaving and I looked up and saw bernard from his window looking down at us wow we shouted his praise. I bought the dark blue suede shirt with silver letters.

It's Hauntingly Beautiful. This song takes me back to the summer of 1997.

  11. M.... ....

To call Suede the inventors of Brit pop is to underrate them. They are more than that.

  12. P.... C....

An absolute masterpiece in every way. Pure poetic lyrics. Sad, powerful, deep...achingly beautiful, just a total work of art. It never tires. You can stash this song away, come back 20 years later and it hits the target dead centre, every time. I could hammer nails with the album and it will just play . Stands the test of time. Falsetto on Anderson here, the raw guitar...the deep and clever wordplay, the poetiquette of the whole thing. God damn its good.

  21. W.... C....

one of the most underrated albums of the last 25 years,. this song is testament to it's brilliance,. saw this tour,. brilliant,. wow,.

  22. O.... H....

Great song. Does anybody know how the part between the verse and chorus (about 1:20) is played? Thanks.

    O.... H....

realize you asked this a year ago now but he's basically just hammering on the notes c to c# then f and then b to c# then e

    O.... H....

to explain it in a rudimentary way...the bass is playing A# to A and the guitar is hammering/pulling off C C# C C# C C# F (while bass note A# is ringing) and then the guitar is doing the same rhythm but with B C# B C# B C# E (while bass note A is ringing)
