Styx - Radio Silence Lyrics
Clear blue skies above
And all I feel is love
In this dream
Sand, water
The earth beneath my feet
I wake to darkness
Remembering the fear
I'm really here
So far away
Lost, helpless
Were words I'd never say
Until this day
Yeah, yeah
Radio silence (so lonely)
No communication
Radio silence
Anybody, can you hear me?
I need a little mercy
It's gonna take a little faith to see
The Mission
It all comes down to me
Full engines on
Separated from the mother ship
Retro rockets fired
This is real
Hypergolic fumes
Hyperbolic tunes
It's a symphony of fear
But I'm still here
Yeah, yeah
All I get is
Radio silence (so lonely)
No communication
Radio silence
Anybody, can you hear me?
I need a little mercy
It's gonna take a little faith to see
The Mission
It all comes down to me
And only me
S.O.S.
It's anyone's guess
Can we make it?
Tied to the beast
I'm just a small piece
Out here naked
It's a sacred ship
But step by step
I'm gonna save it
Heaven knows I need my crew
But how the hell do I get through to you?
Radio silence (so lonely)
No communication
Radio silence
Anybody, can you hear me?
I need a little mercy
It's gonna take a little faith, I see
The Mission
It all comes down to me
And only me

Styx Radio Silence Comments
When someone turns off the radio. 📻
I found this song when searching up the title of my favorite book
I don’t regret it
I came up on this song after searching up my favorite book, not disappointed.
Что это было, мини-аэростат какой-то?
Love this song. Was so amazing live.
Rock on Styx. I had the God given chance to meet you guys in Tampa a few years ago. Your music has really gotten me through some tough times. Thanks for all the great music. Can't wait for more to come.
Love hearing this every day ❤️❤️♥️
Just saw them last night at Pala in San Diego county. Great show as always, loved this song and a great metaphor for why radio stations don’t play great music like this anymore. It’s quite sad, they think everyone wants rap and bubble gum pop music, ummm no, we do not.
This is genuinely my favorite Styx song
Just as good as it was live in London on the 4th June
Omg I love this song and this whole album!
Please bring back Dennis Deyoung and go back and make prog.music again.
I never was a fan of Styx. Usually dont care for them - but this track is very solid!
The Mission proves that Styx can be Styx without DDY
This is my favorite song of the album
I HEARD TODD PLAYED THIS ONE HANDED WHILE NAPPING
Those harmonies are just beautiful
It's "Man in the Wilderness"..in SPACE! Love it!!!
They should get a Grammy just for finding a way to work "hypergolic" into a song. I learned that word in 9th grade science, some time between Cornerstone and Paradise Theater, and it's taken till now, 39 years later, for me to hear it used musically. It might just be the goofiest word I've ever heard in a serious song. But he sings it so casually, and it fits. Go Tommy!
I just saw you guys last night at the sunset Center in Carmel. This one song stuck out in my mind. I applaud you all for improvising after the power shortage. The unplugged was great, I just wish the drunk people in the audience would have been more quiet so I could appreciate what you were trying to provide. take it easy top. You guys rock
Love the Harmonics. You don't hear that too often. It makes me think of Rush's Red Barchetta.
Statimtek where do hear red barcheta in this?
this is not styx. styx is dennis deyoung. use a different name.
ROFLMAO you need to just GFY.
Omg i love this song!
God damn that was awesome live
Getting back to their roots. This is like Pieces of Eight mixed with Equinox and a dash of Serpent is Rising.
Lawrence is tearing that organ up, love it!
This is a great album, their best since Paradise, or maybe their best ever
Styx, the Beatles, REO, Survivor, Genesis... i hear a lot of influences
This needs more comments!
This was amazing
9/10
Wow.
Hyperbolic tunes clearly references the ship's trajectory escaping the gravity of an object while music plays. Brilliant.
It reminds me a bit of The Grand Illusion album.
😊👌 saw Styx, Joan jet, and tesla live today
I saw them yesterday in Laval, QC!
Missed Tesla unfortunately, wish I'd seen them though, because they rocked the last song.
I saw them 2 days ago in NJ, I even recorded one song by Styx
I am seventy years old and own a record store. I knew Styx from the old days but not as well as I thought. Recently saw them in Concert here in Okla City, Okla and I surmise they are truly one of the best rock bands there is. Radio Silence I love and was really surprised to discover the great voice singing it. This band reminds me of the band Europe. Saw them a year ago and was shocked to hear their great music. Few bands can keep coming out with fantastic music but these two bands are the exception. It is a shame that as great as their music is, dee jays don't have the wisdom and sense to play their music.
I went and saw these dudes in Denver last Tuesday. Holy crap what a concept! Of all the songs I really enjoyed this one. Thanks for being cool to a new generation of Styx fans. :)
Not since bon Jovi or Metallica has a band in my mind crossed that generational gap that sometimes separate us from each other. I'm glad you guys have the wisdom to really reach in all directions while still being true to your own style.
Amazing just amazing
Why hasn't there been any radio coverage ? Glad to hear real music hasn't died.
PROOF- The Earth Is NOT FLAT
Love the song, my only slight disappointment is that back in the day the guitar solo part would have been much longer than just the tease bit done here.
I got to see this performed live. It was awesome!!!
I just watched them last night in Cape Girardeau Missouri with Reo Speedwagon and the Eagles and they were awesome, they said that we hoped we liked this song as it was one of their new ones, and people devoured it. Absolutely loved it!!!
Simply awesome!!!!
I think this song is every bit as good as the stuff they released in the 70s. Great concept, music, and lyrics. The video is awesome, too.
Nice return to classic STYX sound. Stick to what you do best, and forget what is trendy.
Holy heck this is such a good album!!!
Which album is this one from?
The Mission
love styx since i was a kid im 29 now still love that there making music ! keep rockin!!
Darren Gallant me too dude lol exactly same situation my dad played this stuff all the time, then I turned 29 this year and he took me to my first Styx concert in Denver last week. 🤘 This band is worthy of more than just the 70s, 80s, and 90s. All I get is radio silence.
I love this even if it is "Man In The Wilderness 2"
Definitely has the air of Man in the wilderness about it (but not quite as good ). Great to see that the band has put out their best album by a "million miles" since Pieces of Eight. Quite a mission!
This song is awesome
Just beautiful TRS, your voice is beautiful.
Actually I heard this on the radio. Its how I four d Styx had a new album out!
Teresa Rozich really I've been searching for any of these songs but I haven't heard any once on the radio
amazing song, genius musicians, great job!
Great song. Felt it before.
You would NOT believe what he's DOING RIGHT NOW . MAKING REMARKS ABOUT EVERYTHING I DO..
THAT'S WHY CY CALLED ME HYSTERICALLY CRYING. AND THAT'S WHY HE WAS ARRESTED AND THROWN IN JAIL 12 TIMES... FROM WHAT HE SAYS.. THE LIAR
Well boys, you've finally done it. I am impressed. Without Dennis, you've finally managed to sound like Styx. I loved Dennis' last LP which sounded like a Styx album and wanted so bad for you guys to release something with the sound of the past infused with the present... and you've done it and for that I thank you. What a gift to the world. Styx is back!
I would go see this live. This is amazing.
I too have been catapulted back in time. Definitely a STYX sound. Great thing about this band there music never goes out of style! STYX is truly a band that deserves to be initiated in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame!
Daniel Banducci ~ Don't expect that to happen because the person who owns it, absolutely hates Styx.
Deborah Kerns that's retarded it should be based off raw unbiased talent and not "oh I don't like it so it's just bad music"
Love this song! Parts of it remind me of "Man in the Wilderness" ... the whole album is a great listen.
Stephen Criscuoli this actually reminds me of Major Tom by Bowie
Why does music have to be 'relevant' anyway? Isn't good music just good music? Not to the greedy record companies.
james maselli this!
Why don't they play this on the radio?????? Instead they cater to teenagers only. 😑
I love WV
@salimm With the exception of that 'gay jews' bit (since half of those predators you mentioned can be straight and non-Jewish), I mostly agree. Also, it can be any young artist besides just urban rappers getting preyed upon.
They’ll never learn.......Never
“They cater to the teenagers “? You clearly know nothing about this band
More like they only cater to top-chart pop.
I went to their concert last night in El Paso with my dad, and a good half of the audience was about my age (I’m 21). They clearly have an audience in the younger people, but they’re not big name celebrities like Ariana or Kanye, so they get pushed aside, alongside a lot of newer bands.
Just saw them live on friday, they still put on a great show!
Antonio Reyes ~ I'm so jealous...😁😁😁
No, I hope you had a great time. Someone posted a live version of "Locomotive" on YouTube, and that sounds incredible.
Here we go. Something back from the past where music was actually good.
Galagion “Back from the past “? the song is two years old…
I don't think I've ever seen a video put so much emphasis on a compact disc jewel case before but I like it
That album was blasted intp space, then with earth's gravity, pulled it back down.
Styx forever.
Amazing album
Grande chanson que j'ai entendue la première fois cet été lors de leur concert et je ne savais même pas qu'ils avaient créé un nouvel album, un excellent groupe, une excellente chanson qui ne joue pas à la radio malheureusement...
I LOVE all Styx, every album, every iteration, and I love each song uniquely. I can never pick a favorite. Radio Silence, Greater Good & Locomotive all take a special place with me from this album.
TheCriminalViolin The Greater good is so deep! LOVE IT!
i like this song it sounds like old times but its not a carbon copy of the old sound its a mix of old and new
this sounds just precisely as one expected of styx but its for a new age so yeah definitely gonna get this cd :)
dorugu ~ I just bought it yesterday on CD. I'll still get the album if I can find it, as I prefer vinyl anyway. You're correct though, it has that old Styx sound that many of us loved prior to "Cornerstone", without sounding dated. I compare it to "Pieces Of Eight" as far as lyrical & musical quality go, just excellent musicianship, very intricate...🎶
I'm in love with this song! I'm always listening to it ♡ You are amazing!
The great metaphor in this song that American radio programmers are silent when it comes to new music by classic bands like this.
The Real Music Observer American radio programmers are outdated, just like cable TV. Nothing but commercials and stuff for 10 year old girls. There's just as much good music now as ever, it's just not on the radio
I don't think that's what they were going for. But I can see where your coming from.
Why isn't FM radio playing this????
Sarah Jackson which station
Taylor Osman ~ It doesn't get played here. In fact, Styx's A&M music rarely gets played here in my state.
Sean Morrison 101.9 I think.
Sarah Jackson thankz
I only heard Styx in autor`s rock auditions late night.
Best lyric video ever made. I freaking love it. Please play this whole album live in socal.
Love this! they sound super classic without sounding old. They only get better and Shaw's voice is flawless!
Timeless Photography - Tampa ~ Tommy was the one who brought me in as a fan. Hearing him sound so incredible all these years later, is such a treat. He's such a versatile musician.
He's 65 and can still hit those notes!
Good song
That Styx sound never gets old. Listening to this, i feel
like a teenager again spinning my "pieces of eight" LP
George Markle ~ It's funny you mention
"Pieces Of Eight", because that's the album I feel this compares to. It's my favorite Styx album. And in my opinion, they haven't done one as good as that one, until now that is. This is now my second favorite Styx album. "Grand Illusion" coming in 3rd.
Wow. This is possibly my fave Styx album, period
George, I know what you mean: I can almost see the posters on my wall. It's like yesterday.........
This is my favorite styx album! Wish JY had a better song
I wish JY had done more. I love
"Trouble At The Big Show", just wanted more. 😉🎶
+Deborah Kerns me too
Agreed, but JY is getting old and he has had to deal with some medical attention these last couple of years, wish him the best and he really wants to stay with the band for as long as possible, he was talking about this at the last concert I attended because they had to delay it for that reason
StyxDemons ~ Did JY mention what those issues are? I really would hate to see him leave Styx... He's been the one consistency they've had since the beginning... Not only because he's been there since their recordings began, but he's never faultered in his music style, And that I so appreciate...
Did... they reupload this? Regardless, I still say it's the best song on _The Mission_ (maybe tied with "Hundred Million Miles from Home", and "The Greater Good" has been growing on me a lot as of recently so maybe that one too). This song also sounds a lot like "Man in the Wilderness" from _The Grand Illusion_
MattCraftDotDerp ~ This one has "edge" to it though. 🎶
This actually reminds me of Major Tom
I'm oddly fond of Red Storm in this album as well. Probably the proggiest Styx has ever sounded in years.
Amazing. I'm crying. Thanks, Styx.
Styx again !!
The Mission rocks!
This is a good song! Great job, Styx! This is a perfect example of what makes you a great band; you're still churning out good music.
YASSSS!!!!!!
What no comments. Guess im first
