Styx - Lorelei Lyrics

When I think of Lorelei my head turns all around
As gentle as a butterfly she moves without a sound
I call her on the telephone, she says be there by eight
Tonight's the night she's moving in and I can hardly wait

The way she moves, ooh-ooh
I gotta say
Lorelei let's live together
Brighter than the stars forever
Lorelei let's live together
Brighter than the stars forever

Her eyes become of Paradise, she softly speaks my name
She brightens every lonely night, no one's quite the same
She calls me on the telephone, she says be there by eight
Tonight's the night she's moving in, it's time to celebrate

The way she moves, ooh-ooh
I gotta say
Lorelei let's live together
Brighter than the stars forever
Lorelei let's live together
Brighter than the stars forever

The way she moves, ooh-ooh-ooh, I wanna say
    (Sing!)

    [Chorus]

Tonight's the night she's movin' in, baby, it's time to celebrate

    [Pre-Chorus]
The way she moves, ooh-ooh-ooh, I wanna say
    (Say it!)

I don't give a good Goddamn what anyone else thinks about STYX! They F#####G JAM man! They're one of the unsung bands that deserves to be in the ROCK-N-ROLL Hall of Fame just for their sheer talent, chops, success and musical legacy alone! I was fortunate enough to see them at the RENO HILTON Outdoor ampitheater in 2000 with all the original members and it was Badass! 🤘🤟🖖✌️

    One of the best !!

  34. Paul Cook

    great song

  35. Jonp

Always liked how the synths go from staccato right up front at 1:17-1:23 to more legato blended in with the bass at 1:23-1:36.

    Mr. Volts

The whole song is a masterpiece.

    JOHN KUHN MUSIC

Hadnt noticed that till your mentioning. This song has been THE absolute HARDEST one Ive ever LIVE parameter mixed, w/backing vox. Im usin a Square and Sawtooth WAV synth combo and they're slightly outta tune with one another BUT, thats what gives them their unique texture/timbre. Causes the bass to go crazy in places.Wear an EQ OUT!.LOL

    Jonp

@JOHN KUHN MUSIC Yeah, I listen pretty closely. Maybe too closely sometimes ;)

  36. William H. Baird

When this album was released in 1975 and toured it was my first ever Concert, They opened for" Bad Company" and blew the British band away! I was in Grade 5. What an EPIC album

  45. Mark Johnson

Such Classic Rock Music! So glad I was a teenager when Styx was so Popular. Can't help but brag a bit-Actually got an "A" for a drawing I did in 8th grade Art class of this Totally Cool melting Ice Cube! And as a Rock drummer, did a Demonstration speech (in 9th grade Speech class in 1979) replacing a "Snare" Drum-Head; while in the background I had "Miss America" from the Styx Grand Illusion" album playing! - Another "A"!

  46. shanegrla

Those harmonies at the end. OMG, just MASSIVE! I love it!!

  55. stephen pfrimmer

    One’s-Self I sing, a simple separate person,
Yet utter the word Democratic, the word En-Masse.

Of physiology from top to toe I sing,
Not physiognomy alone nor brain alone is worthy for the Muse, I say the Form complete is worthier far,
The Female equally with the Male I sing.

Of Life immense in passion, pulse, and power,
Cheerful, for freest action form’d under the laws divine,
    The Modern Man I sing.

  56. marxsbros1

Styx is only Styx with Dennis DeYoung. Anything else is just third rate.

  66. Timma Wilson

Actually a song about suicide due to romantic heart break....

In German mythology, Lorelei is the name of a water fairy (siren) who lived in the Rhine River. When her lover didn't return, she jumped to her death from a large rock where the river narrows. Her spirit is said to inhabit that rock, drawing sailors into it as they pass by and meet their doom.

Lorelei let’s live together...that will never sound the same again.
