Tommy Shaw was angry with Dennis introducing Babe in a rock group and now adding this one ,  The following day he quits Styx and went on to a different band.

Tommy Shaw was gonna quit if it was released as a single! Dennis DeYoung was fired from the band for a month then rehired!

I don't get it tommy didn't like this song but he made a song 'Count on You' when he got solo, its so so slow mellow too..

Damn Yankees was formed in 1988/89. This was on the Cornerstone album in 1979. That's a 10 year difference. This song was never released as a single. Tommy didn't actually leave Styx until 1984.

Too bad the courts don't agree. It belonged to Chuck Panozzo and James JY Young. Dennis DeYoung couldn't play well with others.

Chuck would love to have Dennis back, it's Tommy and JY that say hell no. Frankly he is better off with his band. See him and them any day over Styx current line up. Also I know from talking to his guitar players friends, that they told him thanks for your contribution, your no longer needed. He found out through a press conference they replaced him. His current band brings the sound almost to a T, what we grew up loving. That is why if I want a Styx concert, I go see Dennis.

@Andre Sihotang Ya, the same Babe that went to #1. Funny that Shaw threatened to quit the band but he has no problem cashing in on the hits that Deyoung wrote. Of course, it was an earlier DeYoung hit, Lady, that catapulted their career. If Shaw and JY don't like DeYoung's songs, then they shouldn't be playing them

Dennis is the main producer of all successful STYX album (according to him, start from Equinox), let alone all those big hits written by Dennis (Shaw only had one Top 10 song, the Time on my Hands). They disowned Kilroy Was Here, but not others... Will they stop playing Come Sail Away, Lights, Rockin in Paradise, Suite Madam Blue, Lady?

Actually Tommy helped to "make" Styx. If Tommy never joined and John Curulewski had stayed, there would be no "Crystal Ball", "Fooling Yourself", Blue Collar Man" or "Renegade". Tommy brought more talent and even eye-candy to this band.
