Styx - After You Leave Me Lyrics

You come to me girl
Tears are in your eyes
Your head's bowed in sorrow
You whisper your good-byes

There's nothing I can tell you
To make you want to stay
So let me ask one question
Before you slip away

After you leave me
Where can I go?
After you leave me
What will I do?

I've seen this moment coming
For such a long, long time
I've laid awake for hours
Rehearsing every line

But now that it's here girl
Can't think of anything to say
So let me ask one question
Before you slip away

After you leave me
Where can I go?
After you leave me
What will I do?

Every time that
I get next to her
I'm hung up in this ring of fire

If I love her
Should I let her go
Or should I beg on a bended knee?

How much longer
Lord, I just don't know
I just can't take it girl
I'm breaking up o'er you

After you leave me
Where can I go?
After you leave me
What will I do?

After you
After you leave

Amazing - Just discovering this alum for the first time. This isn't the Styx I grew up with. WOW - WOW - WOW.

cathytai ~ Back when they still had their prog roots... I love a lot of JY's tracks on the Wooden Nickel recordings, as well as their popular A&M Lp's...

    c.... ....

Much of Styx's Wooden Nickel recordings are very different than the commercialized A&M material... Styx was raw, and uncompromised then. That's why I like *The Mission* so much. They reverted back to prog, but with a sophistication, and complexity.

Yup! If you're are ever on Google+, I have a little Styx community called
"💖Styx" ... I post many things pertaining to the band and it's members...

  7. J.... ....

Apparently, the guy who wrote this song is not THE George Clinton (of Parliament/Funkadelic) but some other "George S. Clinton" who made one album of white R&B in 1974 as The George Clinton Band and is now a composer of film soundtracks. How Styx found this song and recorded it two years earlier is a mystery I have yet to unravel.

    J.... ....

He may have started out as an in-house songwriter (a lot of the songs on Styx's first album were written by other people), and then two years later recorded the song himself.

Thanks for uploading this song. I have the Styx I album and have not listened to it for a long time, JY rocks! The guitars of JC and JY are awesome and the Ponozzo boys keep the beat tight. DDY makes the chorus rock solid as well.
