Stryper - Shining Star Lyrics

Shining star for you to see
What your life can truly be

When you wish upon a star
Dreams will take you very far
But when you wish upon a dream
Life ain't always what it seems
What you see, it looks so near
In the sky so very clear

[Chorus]
You're a shining star
No matter who you are
Shining bright to see
What you can truly be
Truly be

Shining star comes into view
To shine it's watchful light on you
Give you strength to carry on
Make your body big and strong

So if you find yourself in need
You've got to listen to these words of heed
Be a giant or grain of sand
Words of wisdom, yes I can

[Repeat Chorus]

[Fade]
Shining star for you to see
What your life can truly be

My Lord, thank You for Michael Sweet and Stryper..amen.
Man, what a voice! What a song writer, what a ridiculous amount of talent, both in Michael, and also the rest of the band.
Michaels solo work is incredible, with no end in sight.
Discovering Stryper in the 80s was a huge stepping stone towards my salvation in '91.

  5. J.... ....

This is really similiar to Extreme, but that era of Hard Rock/Hair Metal, from 1989-1991, some groups were going that "FUNK METAL" route, ala Extreme, who did it best, IMO. But this is a great cover anyway. AM SURPRISED Stryper did it-not likely a band to cover this, as their "Christian Rock" style didn't mesh w/ this, but hey!! DID IT WELL!! Congrats!! 30 yrs (ALREADY??) later, still sounds great!! Presentation, song, style, sound, WELL DONE!!

  6. B.... F....

Know matter who you are! This rocks!!!

  7. r.... ....

Damn I love this video. Not even a huge Stryper fan, just a fan of rock, quality musicianship, and vocals, and of course, the chicks🤘

    Against The Law

This album caught me from the first time I had it in my hands for the following reasons:
    1. The cover and the change of look I liked
    2. The powerful sound that remains in force today
    3. They tested new technical sounds with the guitars. I loved the use of arpeggios in some songs like all for one. Acoustic guitar in Lady and some touches Satriani style.
    4. The bass in addition to making an excellent groove with the drums is very active in the creation of the harmonies with the guitars. Of the best of the disc.
    5. Robert sounds incredible and the execution of the best he has recorded.
    6. Michael's voice at its best. We give many high notes like Rock The Hell of You. But he also showed a better vocal performance.
    7. The melodies are very sticky. The choirs give great strength to Michael's voice. Like Two Times Woman.

In the end I still think that this album had the bad fortune to leave when the decay of the golden years of Rock began and that it was considered a rebellion with respect to the image and the message of Stryper.
For me it will always be the favorite. What do you think?

P.S. GDE has something of ATL from my point of view.

  17. m.... ....

Micheal Sweet is such a gifted singer.

  18. A.... O....

I remember seeig this vid premiere --- Dave Mustaine unt Company
They asked ~ WHY ` I ask why NOT

  19. s.... ....

Might be the best cover of an already great song...its up there.

  20. H.... M....

For ALL those naysayers bitching/moaning about Michael & Comp. covering this EW&F classic. First off, I think they did an BANG UP job doing this...And ALL those covers that influenced them growing up! Second, if you listen CAREFULLY to some of EW& F songs, they mention/give praise to an HIGHER power! It may NOT be YHWH in Judeo-Christian sense BUT at least they're acknowledging someone/somebody OTHER than themselves who gives them the ability to praise/worship!
RIP Maurice White for putting EW& F together so that other musicians can emulate/imitate the bands unique sound/vibe! BUT...There can be only ONE Earth, Wind & Fire AND only ONE STRYPER...KUDOS to both groups!

  21. A.... ....

What a fucking bass work was made in this song. Randy Jackson is a monster!
The "shinning star" version by Stryper is better than the original from Earth wind & Fire

  22. F.... A....

Uon nossaaaa caramba... essa música é muitooo toop lokaaaaaa demais.animal 🤘👊👌🤙 stryper uma das melhores bandas de heavy metal cristão.. Michael Sweet gritaa muitooo....

  23. z.... ....

My fav Stryper albums are Soldiers and THWTD but....Sound mixing and guitar chops wise I think this is one of Stryper's best album ever.

  24. w.... ....

STRYPER FOR THE ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME!!!!

  25. w.... ....

definitely in my opinion, One of THE BEST COVERS ALL TIME IN ROCK MUSIC!!!! Merry Christmas!!! If you have you haven't seen them in concert, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO SOON!!!! : -)

  26. J.... T....

How can covering a song like this with their music sound so awesome?! Still, even with this cover ATL is not their best work.

  27. T.... M....

    Wow that’s a great cover!

  28. J.... W....

3:22 t0 3:26 truly be! wow flawless, mr Michael sweet, one of the greatest tenors in Christian music rock history! enuff said!

  29. C.... M....

I Like both versions. Made me a fan of Earth Wind and Fire.

  30. D.... ....

Stryper with black and BLUE stripes?!! O_o

  31. R.... R....

Randy Jackson on that awesome bass line. The Gaines idiot cannot play anything, FOR SHIT.

  32. P.... M....

Against the law still rests the best album that stryper never wrote and one of the best album of the year 1990

  33. D.... Q....

    I love it

  34. F.... F....

I thought I was going to throw up in my mouth for watching this but it’s pretty awesome!

    F.... F....

    Flying Fish Guy me too!

  35. I.... -....

This is Funk, Prince, 80s pop, hair metal and christianity all in one😍

  36. b.... ....

Kick ass video, awesome cover!! I love those blue cymbals on Robert's drum kit.

    b.... ....

If am not mistaken, those are Paiste's...

  37. t.... ....

I still stand behind them doing this song. Great job. At the time, metal was trying to diversify a little bit. Some bands (like Extreme) were toying with funk. It was a logical commercial choice to cover a song like this. I think this video is good as well (except for Oz' hair - ha). The mistake, as we all know, was Stryper appearing to be leaving the Christian message with the album this song appears on. However, I think they would have lost popularity, no matter what they would have done, because Grunge was getting ready to take over. Maybe they would have always looked back and wondered how things would have turned out, had they NOT taken this chance. But, they ended up offending much of their christian fanbase by going this route so, live and learn. Still a good song.

    t.... ....

yes, but this is the best song

  38. s.... ....

oh Gosh just noticed now, that minute by the minute 1:48 Michael makes the cross sign with his arms...... tribute to Christ :)

    s.... ....

    Shove your yizus up yours.

  39. D.... T....

Love the cover the vedio not so much.

  40. M.... P....

Forgotten what a killer version of this song this is. Totally rocks! I wish I'd seen them live post this album. So many great songs.

  55. G.... ....

Corny video (like many from the 80's), but a fantastic version of the song!

  56. J.... R....

this could be considered, the 'beginning of the end' for my favorite Christian 80s--and heavy metal band!

    \m/

    J.... R....

That is what you get for having religion stuck up your ass. This was a fine album with great tunes, and fortunately without any (at least) obvious religious bullshit.

    J.... R....

Juan Ruiz- While its true, that shortly after the commercial failure of " Against The Law", Stryper went on a decade long hiatus, they refomed in the early 2000's, and have since released at least four successful albums! They are almost even more popular today then they were in the 80's.

  57. D.... K....

    nice remaster..

    what is your company address

  58. L.... ....

    Love it, awesome! Thanks
