Strung Out - Requiem Lyrics

The fires growing stronger as it changes direction (I can't feel my arm)
As animals secretly wish our destruction (They watch and wait)
The city we've abandoned burns away in the distance (We are no one)
Like stray dogs left behind to wait for dead masters, long gone

Behold the fields of fire as they cleanse our infection (In cold grey love)
Now smoke and suffocation be the peace that you offer (The lonely one)
California dreamers and skeletons wonder (In lithium)
Like gasoline and crucifix, Roman candles and the 4th of July

On black friday we dance and play
The tanks roll out and the lovers play
The sun is gone and the moon is high
The wolves will eat and the wolves will die
Saint Francis you've gone away
You've stuck us here with your bills to pay
And no words are left for a pretty song
About how we lived and we got it wrong

  3. A.... ....

this song is so different from the ones of all of the previous records, and i started to love it since the second listening.
    good job guys !!

  4. S.... J....

Created an account to say how much I love this band

  5. W.... ....

I wasn’t aware gothic AFI bought out strungout. what happened to fast and loud Punk Strung out? I hope the rest isn’t like this or I’ll have to skip this album with the rest commenting no like.

  6. N.... L....

I don't care what these other assholes have to say. SOLID PEICE OF WORK! Keep the tunes coming fellas. Ive been a fan 23 years. Ill most likely die a fan. 😉

  7. a.... ....

Requiem part 2? Das ist ein guter ansatz macht ein album draus bye Chris

  8. a.... ....

    Teil 2???

  9. S.... A....

Uuuugh... Way to absolutely waste some of the best musicians on the punk scene. This just sucks. I am grieving for what was once my favourite band. Seriously sad about this.

  10. C.... C....

Huge Strung Out fan. This is the best song on the new album. I listen to Strung Out for energy and invigoration. They used to be presurf-workout music. This new album is slow and boring, not strung out. I appreciate changing things up but not going from No Voice Of Mine to Architect. I love every album up to this one. Please bring the energy back.

    C.... C....

I would not say that better...thanks Chris!...from my point of view this is a big step down as I love every album they did before so much and suddenly ??? Guys, do what you think is good for you but this is not a way I would like to go with you. So sad day (new album/Jordan) after so many excellent years!

  11. C.... S....

Has anyone considered the reason it’s an acoustic is because of the issues with Jordan? Maybe there was no intention for an acoustic album but whatever was going on between the band forced a hand with the other four guys wanted to push ahead, it’s different but it’s not so completely different that I think, where the fuck are these guys going with this. Chill your tits

  12. c.... b....

    Town of corozon not this

  13. J.... N....

    Sad. Lazy. Boring.

  14. G.... G....

    Seeing them next week. Excited

  15. T.... R....

This is the best thing I’ve heard from them in years

    T.... R....

    Timothy Ross Tf

  16. F.... F....

nothing disappointing, brought back the live in a dive art in a more artistic way then we will ever know

  17. A.... C....

What the fuck? Jordan leaves the band and the others start growing vaginas.sounds like afi when they decided to start sounding like shit too.

  18. E.... E....

No Jordan = No Strung Out

    E.... E....

Evil Empire Network Strung Out is releasing an album in August. Second without Jordan. Strung Out is most def Strung Out without Jordan. Strung Out didn’t sound like Strung Out the last 5 years live with Jordan, he couldn’t play the songs anymore. Not his fault or Strung Outs fault for moving on. It’s just life. Be cool man.

  19. D.... L....

Ummm, like, what the fuck is this?

  20. V.... P....

    Great song!

  21. D.... S....

Needs more AKs and honesty. Other than that, I like it. Get your shit together FAT. Dropping the fucking ball. I like the creativity, but come on, boys. If it's any consolation, I enjoyed the rest of the record. Unkoil and Town of Corazon are awesome songs.

  22. M.... M....

    bogus video dudes

  23. R.... T....

I don't get the people with the negative comments haha this is sick, post-apocalyptic chaos, I get amped. Haven't heard the rest, except Corazon, which is great. Want to be boozing hard for full album listen

  24. s.... L....

    Kind of linkin park...

  25. y.... n....

Excuse the fkn essay. But..... I've been inked with the twisted atom since '96, so yep, I'm fkn old and I've been around! A time comes in all situations when you've just gotta give up hope and I'm here to say that time has come. A SO renaissance that resembles Lagwagon's 'Hang' release is just NOT going to happen here. I was worried the minute Jim Cherry was given the boot that the band had died though I've been hopeful since 'Sonic Defiance' which coincidentally is the last release I've purchased, that hey maybe I'm wrong. Trust me, I'd be over the moon to admit I was wrong. Jim was the heart and soul of this band, don't even bother to attempt to fucking argue with me, instead cleanse your aural palate and purchase 'With A Lifetime To Pay' which deserves a spot in the hall of fame for this era/scene/style of music. This band has given me a lot in that '94-00 period with a soundtrack to some great memories, I've given most releases since then a listen but that's all, no emotional nor financial investment apart from supporting them by purchasing a ticket to their show on their tour's to my country(oh, and I did shout Jake a few lines of blow after one show, which in my country is more expensive than black market organs!) Shit will always slide downhill and in this case as each year passes it's pace is exceeding inflation. Yeah, they owe me nothing and yes a band is free to progress (or regress, being a matter of opinion) as they wish. Half your luck if you rate this track and that steaming pile of dog shit 'Town Of Amazon' for they've produced some quality(questionable imo) for you to enjoy. IMO, and remember you SJW warrior 'Im offended' fucktards that it is what it is, this release is a fucking embarrassment and would be so far from a 'B' side in their heyday that it's closer to a 'Z' side. With Jordan's 'cuckold' revelations recently and this album, Jim must be rolling in his fkn grave, it's a real shame. I don't know what's going on at strungout HQ... they're devoid of any new artistic ideas for that's clear as the day is long. Why though? Is it the fact they've literally released an album every second year along with the world tour and practically living in a 'groundhog day' scenario for the past 18 years, that's effectively destroyed any zapped any resemblance of creativity? Are they just old, lazy, comfortable, lost pride and couldn't give a fuck about quality? Happy to pull down the strides and excavate ones bowels on the word? Is the line up stale? Or is FATWRECK full of eunuch boy 'yes' men, who don't give two fucks or are to afraid to say, 'hey lads, this is fucking rubbish and we won't accept a band resting on their laurels so either shop this shit elsewhere, go back to the fucking studio or fuck off, the wagon and propagandhi don't pull these tricks'. Ffs.... AFI did this in 2003 and they did it about 20x better. Blaaah, suck my cock, fuck off, end of rant!

    y.... n....

Live in a dive is my all time favourite album but Transmission alpha delta is a close second. It's hard to choose as they're all so different

    y.... n....

iDOnotNEEDaNAME + conor smith mate i listen to a wide range of genres and their subs from edm through to classical and all things inbetween so its not like i lack listening variety. Nor do i want or expect bands to bang out the same album ad nausea, In fact its that type of behaviour thats seen my last pennywise purchase being 'full circle' and nofx's 'the war on', its the last fucking thing i want. Lagwagon and propagandhi ive bought release day since the mid 90s and they've evolved and changed each release and are both arguably better than ever before. Afi ive followed from the 'answer that' to 'sing the sorrow', another band that evolved and changed each release, some brilliant material over that spread. Osker, another band that evolved and changed over their short yet fkn phenomenal few years, 'idle will kill', holy shit, that album made 2001. Other bands such as Limp, Samiam and Sparta for example evolved and changed in varying degress and departments for the better over time. Theyre all just a few quick examples that fall under the 'punk' and relevant subgenres. What im pissed with is, and its not just my opinion, but this release is a steaming pile of uninspired, stale, common dog shit. The major majority of songs begin life in acoustic form so simply rehashing and releasing a few of your older songs in accoustic form along with some new songs isn't anything special, i think its fkn lazy to be honest. There aint any 'wish you were here', 'hurt', 'patience', 'dust in the wind', 'man who sold the world' or 'nothing else matters' type of accoustic treasures to be heard, i realise those few examples off the top of my head all originate from artists on a whole different level so its a bit rich to expect anything even as half as good, but again, after 25 odd years only a lazy, tired, uninspired band resting on their laurels with a label who doesnt give a single fuck would think this album was a good idea. If anyone can provide an example of a 'rock' band releasing an accoustic album after 25 odd years plugged into amps that was worth a pinch of shit and not an embarrassment then please, by all means tell me who. I won't hold my breath, it's beyond retarded that 25 years into a bands career they think this is some sorta forwards evolutionary progression, its backwards and embarrassing, they should leave it to the accoustic duo's who do it from day dot ffs. It works for Joey Cape and to a lesser extent Tony Sly because like i said, the seed in most songs begin in accoustic form but combined with their supremely superior lyrical and poetry talent oozing raw power and emotion its a winner plugged in or out. This and that Amazon calzone songs lyrics are cheesier than an 10 year unwashed smegma filled foreskin. But by all means, go ahead, sing the praises of this album all you like, half your luck really if thats your summation. Your entitled to your opinions (there's a reason they're compared to arseholes for we've all got one) in regards to my comments about this album and the reasoning behind them, as ill informed as the conjecture filled beliefs are, I can say with 100% certainty, that if not in the not too distant future then not very long after, the realisation wil occur just how forgettable and utterly torrid this album is and a sense of deep shame that it sits in your record collection will abound. Its wobbly rotten insipid fangs biting into you at one of your weaker moments in life and the memory that you actually fucking rated it! Its happened to all of us, we've all bought a stinker or two, stepping out of the echo chamber and seeing it from a different perspective may just be the slap over the head that we all need at times wake us up and pull our head out of our arse.

    y.... n....

    My god your a dumbass🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️

    y.... n....

Sorry I'm not gonna read your life story , not even gonna skim your reply

    y.... n....

    you spelled astrolux wrong.

  26. J.... K....

    This is sick

  27. S.... K....

maybe this is like when chris first joined and they experiment with element .....this new drummer mightve influenced this new sound.........the only difference between this and TEOSD is that Element for me atleast is = to Mary Anne (retired porn star) and this is = to Lizzie Velasquez.

    S.... K....

Shane K New drummer wasn’t involved in anyway. Drummer for Giants of Rome did this.

    S.... K....

Shane K I had to google who you wrote about - that’s so mean!! Poor woman.
    I love element.

  28. S.... D....

6 new songs and 2 old ones, why did they even bother? They even made Unkoil sound bad. The last track is strung out's worst song.

    S.... D....

dufmfsg New version of Unkoil is incredible. Last song is great too. Only bad ones are this one and the Architect. Post your band. Let’s see how good your music is. Let me know. Can’t wait to hear it.

    S.... D....

If you think that last song is great you wouldn't enjoy my band

  29. P.... M....

Doing this EP was always going to be controversial for the fans, I applaud you guys the whole EP has turned out really good. Some douche in the comments said fat mike should drop this band.... why? Creativity drives! Staying stagnant and sounding bored as hell on a record like fat mike has the last 3 albums is the solution?

    P.... M....

Pat Mcrutch 6 of the 8 songs are absolute gold. The remake of Unkoil was fuckin brilliant. This song and the Architect weren’t good though. But hey, just my opinion. I still give the new EP 5/5 stars. People who have followed Strung Out forever know we have a couple shit songs every album since AAP. But the good songs are so good that it makes the 2-3 not so good on every album not a big deal.

    P.... M....

    Stu Bone agreed mate.

  30. N.... ....

Rest in Peace Strung Out.. :-( :-(

    N.... ....

Nagi40 exactly..still a massive fan and always will be..but just cant get into this track

    N.... ....

Oh yeah I love this band, but this new work is not for me and I have the same band's members age LOL..

    N.... ....

    They didn't break up, *SMH*

    N.... ....

but they sound like they broke up :-( and also Jordan left ... SO rest in piece

  31. A.... P....

Strung Out Always was and always Will Be a Good Band

  32. M.... C....

    Absolutely awesome and definitely disappointing

  33. L.... M....

This video is awesome. Reminds me a little bit of borderlands and fallout gamplays. Strung Out Fan forever!

  34. C.... M....

This was fantastic, SO for life ...

  35. J.... P....

Honestly it sounds like a leftover Jason Cruz and Howl track that he just amped up at the end. Wouldn't be surprised if this song had started out as a Jason Cruz and Howl song

    J.... P....

Jason Perkins I thought that about, “Duke of Sorrow”... Which I absolutely love. But this song sucks balls.

    J.... P....

Stu Bone I love the acoustic version of Matchbook and the first couple of songs are good as well as Corazon

    J.... P....

Jason Perkins IMO every song is really good except The Architect and Requiem. I just can’t get into either.

    J.... P....

Stu Bone yea the more I listen to the whole EP as a whole it is growing on me

  36. J.... P....

Totally agree with you. Curious to see what the rest of the album sounds like though

  37. M.... C....

    Great video!

  38. T.... ....

Will there be a comic book like in the Live in Dive series?

  39. R.... M....

To me it just sounds like a Stella Sapiente wanna be

    R.... M....

Yep, really similar sounding, and I *hated* Stella Sapiente, too.

  40. J.... ....

Nice intro! Where can I find the complete clip?

  41. a.... ....

I think this song is nice! Most of people say "boring" or " no excited", but I think they need change their own songs style!!

  42. E.... G....

I use to like these guys

  43. J.... ....

    ewwwwwwwww

  44. J.... V....

I fucking love this....it reminds me of afi..not a bad thing. And that's why I also love strung out....they are always changing their sound .

  45. e.... m....

I like reading the comments from people that “don’t approve” of something a band is doing. It helps weed out the people that I don’t want to share this music with.

    e.... m....

    Well said

    e.... m....

Those haters want them to make the same album all over again, instead of letting the artists expand their horizon.

    e.... m....

I admit that there are a few songs on this EP I don't like, but they did some very solid work on Agents and TAD (which is easily one of my fav albums). Far from shitty, just not always at height to fans' expectations, since it's... Far from homogenic i would say?

  46. M.... M....

The new ep is terrible. Corazon is the only song I like. I at least thought the reworking of Matchbook would be cool...nope.

    M.... M....

Mark M I completely disagree. This EP is one of the best things they've ever released. Presidio and Unkoil in particular are insanely good.

    M.... M....

Mark M Well. Now we know you have terrible tase. 2 songs sucks. 6 are fantastic.

    M.... M....

Cam It is the best album they have ever done. The good songs are incredible! 6 out of 8 songs are phenomenal. But some people want to hear them rewrite firecracker over and over. They should just listen to firecracker. Lol

    M.... M....

Sounds like they're going for some Imagine Dragons and twenty one pilots influenced dance pop garbage for hipsters. I don't mind change...but it just sucks.

    M.... M....

Mark M This song most definitely is awful. Not defending this shit at all. But the EP is tight.

  47. D.... H....

    That was.............. disappointing as fuck

  48. B.... ....

Please Jason, start a side project for shit like this.

  49. f.... s....

    The start of an song

    f.... s....

Good in itself, but I could see that being an epic intro

    f.... s....

    Rorry Templeton Yes, it's true...

  50. M.... S....

    Bloody awesome!

  51. J.... P....

    That was beyond disappointing

    J.... P....

You all are just typical internet haters/trolls, doubtful any of you have any talent or musicianship whatsover

    J.... P....

    I like it

    J.... P....

Yah, this was pretty fucking lame.

    J.... P....

So there music vids aren't the best there still a good punk/metal band. The next album will be heaver there just giving the new drummer some time to get his feet wet. Or maby that's just a break from all the heavy maby they wanted to do something differently but I can assure you there not going enywere with them Turing with pennywise

  52. F.... G....

    When start the song? :v

  53. J.... T....

Bubble gum. A far cry from what was. Of course...just my opinion.

    J.... T....

Rorry Templeton...thats awesome. First time being called a "troll". I think my opinion is just that...mine. Considering I have paid for and have ALL their other albums...I'm "allowed" to not like it. Have a great day...don't step in any gum.

    J.... T....

you're absolutely allowed, just, even if someone doesn't like it, "bubble gum" seems more for like super shit polished pop garbage like miley cyrus, I genuinely thought you were joking haha

    J.... T....

Also thought you were trolling. Bubble gum? It doesn't stick at all. It's not a sing along tune. Not catchy. It is actually very far from it. If you still think this is bubble gum, maybe you are misunderstanding the word's meaning.

    J.... T....

Reno Facundo...Reno...the city. Great place. Also the first place I experienced teargas in 1979. Kind of like listening to this track. Junk.

    J.... T....

Nice story, mate. How about making a song out of it? I'm sure it will be better than this one. Also, not bubble gum, of course.

  54. L.... ....

    STRUNG-OUT
    ON "LSD" 🕳👁🕳

  55. C.... ....

    Fucking brilliant!

  56. l.... ....

    cool cool cool!

  57. C.... ....

    This is awesome!
