Strung Out - Duke Of Sorrow Lyrics

A ballad of a lonely night, the artist and the ache
A broken girl, a desperate boy
The love we give is the love we take
Lovers in the dark away from angry eyes that stare
Battle songs from nowhere bars
And lonely hearts that go nowhere

Some say the art of life is in the smile that you wear
When you remember every line to every song that kept you here
Like flowers from a grave and a promise too vain to keep
To be your brother's keeper with the song that you seek

I've been wrong and I've been right
I've been raising hell all night
Been alone in quiet places
With a bottle and song
I've been here and I've been there
I've been wasted everywhere
I walked a mile just to know
What it was like
To be the Duke of sorrow

Making out in lonely parks
Ditching school to skate that pool
A poor boy and a hungry band too desperate to be cool
Everybody started out, some with more, some without
And it's never what you had
It's everything you could do without

I've been wrong and I've been right
I've been raising hell all night
Been alone in quiet places
With a bottle and song
I've been here and I've been there
I've been wasted everywhere
I walked a mile just to know
What it was like
To be the Duke of sorrow

And I've been wrong and I've been right
I've been raising hell all night
Been alone in quiet places
With a bottle and song
I've been here and I've been there
I've been wasted everywhere
I walked a mile just to know
What it was like
To be the Duke of sorrow
The Duke of sorrow

What in the fkng fk is going on here. I hung on for so long with all the creative changes being a huge fan and understand that everyone evolves but I just can’t jump on the country train. Toot toot I’m out.

This album is a touch different I love this band to bits but I gotta say, acoustic songs are for sissies not a fan... respect to their artistic integrity but this albums not for me. Kept searching for the noise but all the songs sound the same to me, boring shit you hear on the radio every day commercial easy listening

Sometimes musicians as talented and proficient as the guys in Strung Out simply yearn to push boundaries and try new things which is why bands so rarely stay the same over the years (especially bands that have been around as long as Strung Out). That's the reason the band largely got away from the strictly punk stuff they did back in the 90's and evolved into a much heavier, punk/metal sound that they are about the best there is at. I know many wish they'd just put out Twisted By Design every album but that gets boring when you have as much musical skill as these guys do (besides, Exile in Oblivion and Agents of the Underground are really their best records). I don't particularly love this song, but stuff like The Architect and Requiem are just incredible displays of musicianship and song-writing, even though I don't typically care for acoustic records.

MegaTechpc hey man really good reply I stick mainly to metalcore personally and I know exactly what you mean one of my favorite bands recently began moving in a different direction less heavy more melodic carefully thought out lyrically and not the neck snap fans are used to but it's good I quite enjoy it as I've aged somewhat with the band that said this album for this band purely for me was a wrong turn and to drastic of a change I could listen to this crap on the radio if I needed a reason to put a gun in my mouth this isn't a shift in the band it's a shift in genre to what to me is pop rock bordering on country and I find the whole album quite depressing but that's me its all subjective the energy is just gone

Does this sound weirdly like Jesus of Suburbia to anyone else?

Weird this has more downvotes than unkoil. This is fresh and fun. I love it. You cant bust out punk forever

Strung Out is making some sick melodies these days. Love it. Can't wait to see you guys live this month!!!

Not one song really meshes with another on this EP. I love this country Strung Out song though. Sounds like a Jason Cruz and the Howl song, except good. Lol

I agree with every part of this comment

Good stuff. Not every song has to be the punkest shit ever. Sometimes a laid back jam hits the spot.

    N.... g....

absolutely! I've grown to love this tune
