Honestly one of their best songs in my opinion and I basically like everything they have done. Comedown machine was a very bad album sadly in my opinion. It had 3 good songs, the rest I could care less about. Everything else they made, WOW! Honestly one of the greatest bands of all time. The voidz (Julian casablancas is singer of) aren’t to bad in my opinion.

When you already think is this it is a masterpiece then you realize NYC Cops and In Her Prime didn’t even make the fucking cut

1- this is clearly the strokes. 2- NYC cops n when it started are different songs completely...Nyc cops was on the album released in England w the cover of the models ass n glove but in the American version when it started takes nyc cops spot and they changed the album cover to the blue geometric one.

+Kyle Ligamari The album cover was banned in the US, also they took NYC cops off the album because it was released in 2001 just after 9/11... Wasn't the best time to release an album putting down police that just had to deal with some severe shit going down. Was quite nice of them to take it off the album actually.

+Opomax I know that's why they took it off and only The Strokes would be able to replace a gem like NYC Cops w another gem in When it started

The UK cover wasn't banned in the US. It was Julian's decision to change the cover. He found this image of spiraling trajectories of subatomic particle collisions (not the Big Bang -- would love to see a photo of that, ha) and decided to make the change. At least that's his story.

@LeavingIt Blank there's a lot of information suggesting that it was banned, I prefer the US cover anyway, that's the vinyl version I bought purposely over the original cover. It doesn't have When It Started on it though. Perhaps I'm wrong and the information floating about is wrong, I'd like to believe Julian as I love him but got to remember he's not a god so until I see some better evidence I'm going to stick to my original view, if you can provide me some I may reconsider, but knowing my strokes love I'll do it myself. Thanks for the info mate, PS the new EP is AMAZING, going to buy on vinyl ASAP.

My orange vinyl is in the mail on its way!  Tried to get a blue one locally, but no luck.  Anyway, about the US cover, I have also seen a lot of info that it was banned, but I saw an interview where Julian says that is not true, that he found that image and wanted to make the change.  (And really, there have been far worse covers released in the US.)  I "think" it was in the interview he did with Nardwuar, but I'd have to go back and listen to the whole thing again.  (Great interview, BTW, if you haven't seen it.  Just have to ignore the obnoxious interviewer.)

Wiki says they changed only the CD version, so yeah, I guess the vinyl would still have NYC Cops.  Guess back then no one was buying vinyl, so it didn't matter.  In fact, there might not even have been a vinyl version at that time.  CDs were the THING.

+corey jay Try listening to fast animals, its a b-side from comedown machine, I agree I think they took it too far with comedown machine, but they're back in the studio and they still have it, yeah listen to fast animals a few times through, julian sings harmony with himself, but he does use his "normal voice" in harmony with his falsetto
