Streisand, Barbra - What Now My Love Lyrics

Et maintenant
Que vais-je faire?
De tout ce temps
Que sera ma vie
De tous ces gens
Qui m'indifferent
Et maintenant
Que tu es parti
Toutes ces nuits
Pourquoi?
Pour qui?
Et ce matin qui revient pour rien
Mon coeur qui bat
Pourquoi?
Pour qui?
Qui bat trop fort, trop fort...
What now my love, now that it's over
I feel the world closing in on me
Here come the stars, tumbling around me
And there's the sky, where the sea should be
What now my love, now that you're gone
I'd be a fool to go on and on and on
No one would care, no one would cry
If I should live if I should live or die
Je n'ai vraiment
Plus rien a faire
Je n'ai vraiment plus rien!

Streisand, Barbra What Now My Love Comments

I give up. No more searching for a really good version of this great song. Barbara's rendition is the definition of oversinging. She makes the song disappear. Only thing worse I can imagine would be Joan Baez singsong voice making me rip out my eardrums. Will SOMEBODY do this song justice. How about you? You could hardly do worse than this. Give it a shot.

anything she touches turns gold. Marvellous. Whoever says anything bad about her is a deaf dumbass.

  6. J.... L....

She really interprets this song badly.

    J.... L....

I think she wanted to do something different from all the numerous versions at the time. They were usually done to a dramatic bolero arrangement and were very serious. She may or may not have succeeded here, but at least she didn't follow the norm.

Oh contraire, this 60s uptempo long-lizard arrangement is the HEIGHT of camp. She turns the USUAL TIRED interpretation on it's head and makes it sound like she is mockingly saying "good-bye and good riddance; how will I EVER get along without you. Let me count the ways...." In other words, she does what she was famous for in the early 60's, which was to make the same old tired music seem new again.
