Streisand, Barbra - Something So Right Lyrics

You've got the cool water
When the fever runs high
You've got the look of love
Light in your eyes
And I was in crazy motion
Till you calm me down
It took a little time
But you calm me down
Something goes wrong
I'm the first to admit it
I'm the first to admit it
And the last one to know
Something goes right
Oh it's likely to lose me
It's up to confuse me
Such an unusual sight, oh, I swear
I can't, I can't get used
To something so right
Something so right
They've got a wall in China
It's a thousand miles long
To keep off the foreigners
They made it strong
And I've got a wall around me
That you can't see
It took a little time
To get next to me
Something goes wrong
I'm the first to admit it
The first to admit it
And the last one to know
Something goes right
Something goes right
Oh it's likely to lose me
It's up to confuse me
Such an unusual sight, oh, I swear
Oh, I can't, I can't get used
To something so right
Something so right
Some people never say the words
"I love you"
It's not best time to be so cold
Some people never say the words
"I love you"
But like a child they're longing to be told
Hmm...something goes wrong
I am the first to admit it
I'm the first to admit it
And the last one to know
Something goes right
Something goes right
It's like it'll lose me
It's up to confuse me
Such an unusual sight, oh, I swear
I swear, I swear I can't, I can't get used to
Hmm... something so right!
Hmm... something so right!

Streisand, Barbra Something So Right Comments
  1. R.... R....

you ok  bakbara you ok shalom

  2. H.... d....

Perfect example of why I prefer a lesser voice with a greater amount of sincerity. Of course, Simon was far more síncere because he undoubtedly knew on a personal of what he was singing about.

Empate técnico: as versões de Barbra e da Annie Lennox são ambas maravilhosas, dignas das divas de vozes ímpares que são! A música de Paul Simon é simplesmente perfeita...parece que foi feita pra mim, como diria Milton! | Both Barbra and Annie Lennox's versions are awesome - as expected of two divas with such unique voices. And Paul Simon's music is simply perfect... it seems like it was written for me kkk

    great song by her

I wanted to share this much more pared down version with fans of this great song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okuRYd_Gan0

  6. J.... W....

I have the original LP and was the original fan of my group. Love this album.

  7. J.... W....

This woman does and has always done this song right.......... oooh something so right.

  8. N.... B....

Why would anyone want to do a cover of this song, when Paul Simon's original is the unmatchable standard? It stands alone in its honest-to-goodness 1970s arrangement. That version, with electric piano (à la Bob James) and punchy percussion is tops. The last 40 seconds are the perfect end to a song. This BS cover is okay but can't touch the original.

    N.... B....

Why would anyone what to cover any song then? The is a fine song, but it's no better than hundreds of others that get covered all the time. It's called interpretation. An artist thinks they have something of their own to bring to the composition--let them do it. It's not a contest.

@Chris N What I am saying is that every once in a while an artist records something that stands apart as the nonpareil. It's not a crime for someone else to re-record it, but the original is always in the back of one's mind as sui generis. I'm thinking of all those Beatles songs recorded by Sinatra, Mantovani, Andy Williams, Julie Andrews, etc. (all with that groovy jazz beat)

    God Bless Paul Simon

  10. J.... S....

OMG! I used to have this album and forgot all about this song! Thanks for bringing it back! She's amazing.

  11. E.... R....

    one word, great!

  12. M.... D....

Barbra Streisand singing Something So Right or how to ruin a beautiful, emotional classic song with lush, heavy arrangements...and the way she sings it...i don't criticize her voice but how she performs the song, it lacks of emotion.
I prefer the Annie Lennox's version (especially the one with Paul Simon) and of course, the best remains the one by the author himself!

Great voice. Great vocalist. But this song is not for her. The arrangement is labored and her Jazz, Gospel, R&B improvisations simply fail. The singing feels mannered. However, on "Guilty" and "What Kind of Fool"(with Barry Gibb) and "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" with Neil Diamond, her grasp of those genres is effortless, gorgeous. On the 'Yentl' soundtrack, too. Not sure why it's not happening here. Dialogue rather than monologue, perhaps?

    M.... D....

Major Denis Bloodnok I hate this! The one with Annie and Paul is a gem!

    M.... D....

While I agree with most of what is conveyed in these comments, it still is smooth and listenable. Not every song has to be packed with emotion. Sometimes the heart needs a bit of a rest, yet pleasant background sounds.

  13. 4.... ....

My parents played this album when I was a little girl in the mid-70s.  I grew up listening to Barbara's smooth, yet powerful voice.  This song is SO easy and smooooth, just love it!

  14. s.... ....

Paul Simon- an excellent writer. Good version by Barbra.

  15. j.... j....

a nice version of this magnificently written song.

  16. F.... ....

    You mean "doesn't add anything".

  17. F.... ....

I'd prefer Arthur Mullard singing it, backed by Shep's Banjo Boys, to the appalling travesty by Annie Lennox.

    F.... ....

    Complete BS.

  18. L.... J....

I'd love to hear her revisit this song now at 60(?) Strip it down. Piano and vocal. Totally acoustic. Without the vocal range and agility of youth (where you want to sing EVERYTHING at once)... Just tell the story. And I will love you forever. No strings attached.

  19. b.... ....

Emily - I still think of you.

  20. e.... R....

I heard, I think that it is better with a woman voice. May be. I'm found of Simon's group, that's sure but this "interpretation" by B. Streisand seems to me very good.
But, "il manque un je ne sais rien, un petit quelque chose dont je ne saurai définir".
Sorry, I'm in France and I speak french bettter than english.
    Bye

  21. j.... ....

LOVE me some babs, but Paul Simon clearly reigns supreme on this one.

    j.... ....

It is one heck of an album (Paul's). I bow down to his album "Hearts and Bones," especially the track "The Late Great Johnny Ace."

  22. S.... ....

I love this song and she sounds beautiful, I also love the Annie Lennox version.
