Streisand, Barbra - Since I Fell For You Lyrics

When you just give love
And never get love
You'd better let love depart
I know it's so
And yet I know
I can't get you out of my heart
You may leave my happy home
You took my love and now you're gone
Since I fell for you
Love brings such misery and pain
I guess it'll never be the same
Since I fell for you
Well, it's too bad
And it's too sad
But I'm in love with you
You love me
You love me then you snub me
But what can I do?
I'm still
I'm still
I'm still in love with you
I guess I'll never see the light
I get the blues most every night
Since I fell for you
Since I fell for you...

Streisand, Barbra Since I Fell For You Comments
  1. B.... B....

I was just a little girl of 10 years. My father bought me all 12 albums of her for Christmas, since that's what I asked for. I adored her so much, I wrote to her at least once a week. All i ever got back was a stamped b & w photo of her. Once I had 10 or more of the exact stamped photos, I feel out of love for her. I am thankful for that, because I spent the next 40 years of my life working in the music industry with the likes of Queen, and many other classic bands, Guns & Roses and so many years....but with those bands, they were raw and I lived with them. Barbra, is still a great singer. I will admit that. But I cannot ever again support such an UN AMERICAN....ANTI Patriotic American!

  2. D.... S....

This girl can simply do it all with perfect style

  3. L.... F....

This is in my Top 10 Streisand's recordings..... Puré Perfection
Tomorrow and I Never Has Seen Snow are another Perfect recordings (imho).

  4. e.... ....

Pure Streisand -- the range, the phrasing, the control. Many of today's so- called singers cannot hold a candle to Barbra.

  5. j.... -....

Oh my god! This is heaven 😌😌

  6. T.... ....

    Untouchable version, ohhh vocals. DiVA🎤♡️

  7. m.... c....

    2:35 got me shook.
She snatched my wig and everything.

  8. C.... F....

    Maravilhosa!

  9. M.... L....

While I do not care for Barbra's personality at all and her voice is just too strident usually, this is the very best song that she has ever recorded and performed, in my opinion. She knocks it our of the ballpark what that high note at 2:30, just marvelous, right on pitch and with great control! Brava!

  10. C.... P....

    Real talent

  11. B.... ....

Takes me to another place. What an outstanding piece of work.

  12. P.... ....

She starts off beautifully restrained here, then-- as usual for her-- ruins the performance by over-emoting.

    P.... ....

You are an IDIOT.  I defy you - DEFY you - to name another artist who can nail the raw emotionalism, vocal range, and power that is applied to this song.

  13. X.... M....

Hi there Barbra, can you read me? I'm mexican and let me tell you I LOVE the way you sing this song, I listen to it once and again and again, I just can´t get tired of enjoying how your voice sounds and the feeling and the high note is simply amazing. Why didn't you ever come to sing to Mexico? We love you. Don´t stop singing ever please, I'll listen to you even if you're 90 years old, your voice comes from heaven!!!

  14. g.... ....

The absolute peak of her ability to get to the essence of music, ably assisted by producer Richard Perry.

  15. G.... ....

    It's a masterpiece.

  16. C.... H....

A really terrific version of the song. Babs' voice is in fine top form. And the musical arrangement is pretty timeless. Lovingly produced by Richard Perry. Easily my favorite Barbra Streisand song. The 2':30" wailing is perfect.

  17. d.... m....

    paradis Barbra ! Thank's !

  18. M.... ....

I have a new respect for Barbra. Never really cared much for her voice/tone, or her style of singing. Not criticizing, just not my cup of tea. But my God.... this was absolutely magnificent. The best G5 I’ve ever heard.... like ever.

    M.... ....

And WHO did you care for?  Janet Jackson (what a "voice."  Uh-huh), or Brittany Spears???

  19. s.... ....

    The Best Version!

  20. M.... ....

This is the BEST!!! A great album. All the songs on it are great. I adore her!!!

    M.... ....

MrCristoforoantonio Can you tell me what album this’s from? Thanks

  21. N.... D....

Pure genius.  The only singer out there that can do what she does is Johnnie Mathis.

    N.... D....

Nancy Desch ...people have to realize Mathis is good, but their are many better...like (not in order...just superior) Frank, Nat, Perry, Doris, Peggy, Tony, Andy, Ella, Sammy, Mr. B., Vaughn, Sassy Sarah, Dinah...Etcetera, Etcetera. ...

    N.... D....

I meant breathe control and hitting high notes and holding them.

    N.... D....

....Along with those others singers.  You know, Nat "King" Cole, Sinatra, Garland and Lena Horne.

  22. M.... R....

We have all been so lucky to be able to live in BARBRA's ERA....NOBODY LIKE HER EVER !!!

  23. M.... R....

WOW...This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written and she is the greatest singer of all time.. The legendary BARBRA STREISAND sings SINCE I FELL FOR YOU....

  24. t.... ....

im all for people LIKING what they LIKE, but 8 THUMB DOWNS?????????????????????? WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LIKE?

  25. J.... h....

Yeah, goosebumps on my goosebumps!!!! Babs!

  26. C.... P....

I don't even think Barbra herself could top this record.

  27. W.... ....

I whole heartedly agree. In many ways, this song/performance is different from almost any other of hers. In some parts, it almost doesn't even sound like her. I don't know if this is P.C. to say but she almost sounds lime another ethnicity or sings in another "ethnic" style. I think this is easily one of her best 5 renditions.

    W.... ....

PERHAPS because a BLACK MAN, band leader in the 40's COMPOSED it: BUDDY JOHNSON. made FAMOUS by LENNY WELCH. even doris day, mel torme covered this song. gotta admit, that note @ 2:28 is ROCKET AWESOME.

  28. S.... V....

  29. N.... B....

bloody fantastic! only voice that gives me goosebumps

  30. N.... B....

    bloody fantastic!..goosebumps again

  31. S.... C....

Have no words. Barbra, you are the best of the best, the mother of the divas, the best singer of ALL TIMES. The best Artist, too. You are the Greatest of the Stars

    S.... C....

    oh yes!!❤💜💚

  32. p.... ....

OK, someone explain to me how a human voice can do what she does at the 2:28 mark? How is that possible? Amazing.

    p.... ....

    I can't.

    p.... ....

It´s called having a technical ability. Classical singers reach much higher notes, depending on their kinds of voices. A coloratura soprano reaches the highest notes.

    p.... ....

Atonal: Julie Andrews, and Joan Sutherland are/were coloratura sopranos. A coloratura is defined by agility, by dramatic purpose; not by range. Streisand is more of a lyric soprano, perhaps a mezzo as some claim, but she really is in a class of her own, and I mean that in a good way! ♫

  33. D.... T....

This is one of my favorite songs from Barbara S. She is so AMAZING, & INCREDIBLE, & AWESOME WOMAN! I'VE BEEN SINGING HER TUNES SINCE I WAS ABLE TOO! There's nothing she cannot accomplish. Actress, Vocalist an All-Star Artist! I Love & Appreciate Barbara Streisand! May The MAGNIFICENT ALMIGHTY GOD Continue to BLESS YOU Barbara! In Christ Jesus Name Amen! PEACE and LOVE ALWAYS♡

  34. i.... ....

    Love the chord changes!

  35. s.... ....

    TRULY PERFECTION!!!
    Sparkling like an Diamond...

  36. b.... g....

    so lush xxxx

  37. I.... ....

Thank you for posting this! I had this on my mind and so nice to read how much others enjoy her performance. I agree with you that this is one of her best. This was on her "Barbra Joan Streisand" album which is the first album I ever owned of hers and this is way back in 1972 on 8-track no less. It came with our new stereo system from Montgomery Ward. I'm sure thankful to the salesman who threw it in the deal! I've been in love ever since and this is my favorite album of hers as every song is fantastic. Barbra is riding a nice, long wave as her voice was in top form and what a great first album to introduce me to all the rest of her incredible work. She has made such an impact on the world with her beautiful voice. She is truly blessed and thank you, Barbra, for sharing your many talents with us. Greetings from the South Bay (SF Bay Area)!

  43. B.... ....

    She can deliver!

  44. K.... ....

Try matching her notes. You can't do it.

  45. N.... H....

Barbra is the GREATEST and most successful female recording artist of our time and no other female singer holds a candle to her.

  46. m.... ....

    FLAWLESS!

  49. J.... C....

A keeper, Babs at her best

  50. J.... G....

Although Barbra has a reasonable singing voice, Doris Day's version of this song is far, far better.   Indeed, Barbra could have done no worse than learning the art of subtlety from a master of song like Doris Day.  Barbra starts the song promisingly enough but then unfortunately, spoils her rendition of the song halfway through by basically trying to be too clever with the lyrics and belting out the song for all it is worth.  Doris on the other hand understood perfectly that simplicity is often the key with great singing .  Instead of indulging in unnecessary histrionics like Barbra does, Day sings it clearly and sincerely but still without losing the special feeling and expression she brings to this song.

    J.... G....

@ryan ahr  I realise that my comments have probably made me unpopular on this channel.  I was perhaps wrong to say Barbra has a reasonable singing voice - she is a good singer - but I just feel that she could sing with a lot more subtlety.  I don't like it when to me she appears to belt out the song needlessly.  However, I will take on board your advice and listen to the songs you've suggested. However as much as I respect your opinion, I can't agree with what you've written about Doris.  Doris was a great singer and her talent was one in a million - people have heard of Doris Day!  She is a timeless talent.  To me, she sings with the softness and subtlety that I feel Barbra lacks somewhat.  Please, please could you equally listen to Doris's version of "Since I fell for You"?  You might still disagree with me at the end of the day, but at least hopefully you can appreciate Doris's interpretation and hear the beauty of her singing.

    J.... G....

@Jonathan Grewcock  It's not that your comments have made you unpopular so much as they've exhibited your poor taste.

    J.... G....

@Gordon Hall You are of course welcome to your opinions but I feel that you have slightly unfairly accused me of having poor taste, when all I have dared to say is that I don't care for Barbra's interpretation of this song.  I can't help thinking that if I was to praise this song, then it would be a completely different story and I would be thought of as having good taste.  Instead of criticising me personally on my taste in music, it would be preferable if you could tell me constructively why you like this interpretation and in what way you feel it is better than Doris Day's.  You have made a sweeping generalisation on my poor taste, when you don't really know in fact what my tastes are - it could be that there are certain songs that Barbra sings where I have enjoyed her interpretation (indeed I like the way she sings "Evergreen" and "Don't Rain on My Parade") - and based it purely all on just my one slight criticism of her interpretation of this song.  For the record, I don't think anyway that liking Doris Day is poor taste - she was a beautiful singer who had a divine voice and appeared in many more musicals than Streisand (plus she could dance which as far as I'm aware Streisand hasn't done in any of her films).

    J.... G....

    @Jonathan Grewcock  I don't care.

    J.... G....

Doris Day can't even be placed in the same category as Barbra. The difference is like night and day, summer and winter, fire and ice, etc,

  51. H.... I....

    Qué hermosa voz.

  52. s.... ....

She has me with this song, it's as bluesy as you can get. And keep it classy and real. This one of my favorite songs and favorite people! I love you Barbara Streisand. Thanx for the upload. God bless US ALL in Christ Jesus Name Amen

  53. W.... ....

I agree with the others. This is easily within my top three performances of Barbra's. At times it's as if it's not even "her" but somehow transcends or channels higher realms of purity, clarity, strength and "something more." I don't know if this is PC to say but it's as if a "past life" as a black "soul" singer comes through for lack of better language to express what I'm trying to convey here.

    W.... ....

I think this is from "The Essential Barbra Streisand" album.

Yes it show her range and power, just beautifull

    W.... W....

I love her rendition of this favorite song, and yes, she has a marvelous range in this song. I love her voice but NOT the arrogant woman! Too bad, since her voice is all she has, it's certainly not her looks -- she incites that "dislike" feeling in many people. But the way she goes up one octave on that high note, is really amazing! Remarkable. I've never heard her go that high on anything else she sings. But no one needs to be haughty, it's a sure popularity sinker!

  56. g.... r....

    beautiful...

  57. D.... ....

What a gift, I love her voice so much! :-)

    D.... ....

    me too!

  58. M.... M....

The high notes are too beautiful to be produced by a human. Barbra is from a different and better planet.

Those high notes (and those soft velvety ones) give me goosebumps all the time. Incredible. She's the best.

Sweet Barbra I love you...since the first time I ever heard your beautiful voice...Huge Greetings from Monterrey N.L. México...

  60. 0.... ....

Holy G5 :o I freaking love Barbra. Her interpretive abilities are matchless. excellent vocals here!

  61. G.... W....

@melowdysee It's the musical not "G" sang in produced in the 5th octave. On a piano it's above the "C" above middle "C."

  62. b.... ....

I still cry over him and its been over 6 years. But only when I hear this song.

  63. W.... &....

    Beautiful!!!

  64. T.... ....

2:28 That G5! It gives me chills every time I hear it! =D

  65. E.... G....

I agree, this is an underrated song of hers--she gives a stunning performance; what an interpretation!

  66. G.... ....

Wonderful... She's just a notch below the great Judy Garland (for those in dobt, listen to "Judy at Carnegie Hall."). Streisand has that range, but Garland's voice is in 3-D; incredible flavor.

  67. D.... B....

That G gives me life! My neck about rolled off my shoulders listening to that thang. YAS!

  68. r.... m....

Is that in a key of G

  69. M.... A....

@melowdysee It's a note, it means the note G in the fifth octave (The high note in this song on "I'm still in love you" is a G5). It's a difficult note to reach without skill

  70. M.... ....

    I'm sorry, but what is a G5:) ?

  71. M.... M....

I love that G5! Such ease, and I know it's above her controlled range. Even featured vibrato! Awesome :)

  78. M.... A....

    @ThePianoguy89 It was actually a G5 :)

  79. M.... A....

    @ThePianoguy89 I know right :D

  80. P.... ....

Was the highest belted note was a G#5? That was amazing!!

  81. P.... ....

Her vocals here are sure striking! Great phrasings, interpretation, expression, and just a golden voice! Barbara is the original diva like Queen Aretha! Love her vibrato!
