Streisand, Barbra - My Coloring Book Lyrics

For those who fancy coloring books
As certain people do
Here's a new one for you
A most unusual coloring book
The kind you never see
Crayons ready, very well
Begin to color me
These are the eyes that watched him
As he walked away
Color them gray
This is the heart that thought
He would always be true
Color it blue
These are the arms that held him
And touched him then lost him somehow
Color them empty now
These are the beads I wore
Until she came between
Color them green
This is the room I sleep in
Walk in and weep in
Hide in that nobody sees
Color it lonely, please
This is the man
The one I depended upon
Color him gone...

Interpretation, emotions, soul, finesse. Using vocal dynamics that wow and convey feelings w/o showboating. That is a lost art form

  2. J.... G....

She’s the vocal trinity in one

    ...!!! Beat this !

  9. A.... d....

    Loved those C#5's!

  10. r.... g....

I bought her album of this name when it originally came out. Still play it. I can now see her sing it. Amazing and marvelous. Thrilling!

  11. S.... ....

Untrained my Aunt Fanny! Her training was singing in her building's stairways as a kid, her first boyfriend recording her and teaching her how to phrase and act while singing, not to mention her nightclub gigs way before this tv appearance. Check out the Tonight show with Orson Bean....her singing isn't even as good as this!

    S.... ....

She was 20...it's not a question of training...it's a question of gift...at that time she was the NEW ONE and was singing all the time...she was learning doing it....

  12. j.... h....

this is such a beautiful performance and the emotion put into it reminded me very much of judy garland. with such a stunning voice is it any wonder babara streisand has remained at the top of her profession

  13. C.... N....

She transformed pop singing the way Brando transformed acting.

  14. b.... s....

    thank you.

  15. J.... P....

This wasn't supposed to happen. A poor, skinny-legged, novice Jewish girl from Flatbush wasn't the preferred formula for Stardom in 1962. From the first note of her career, the "supposed to be" axis smashed and nothing would be the same again. Her rising star was a joy to behold and would surpass every expectation and limitation. She is peerless, flawless.

    @Jim Perretta Beautifully articulated!

    Mesmerising............

  19. R.... S....

I've seen it, but I still don't believe it.
20 years old and in possession of a very special talent.
Streisand was a superhero masquerading as a mere mortal.

  20. T.... S....

20 years old??? Gorgeous! Those eyes! That mascara! That hair! Jennifer Lawrence should play Barbra one day...

    T.... S....

    Tim Spear definitely 👏🏾

  21. C.... N....

No wonder she stood out like a sore thumb among all the other young female vocalists at the time. Her great talent was already firmly in place, ready to make history.

    C.... N....

Standing out like a sore thumb is a derogatory expression. Generally it's
"standing out like a black eye."
Neither is a proper metaphor when trying to make a
    compliment.

  22. I.... V....

    Amazing beauty and talent!

  23. P.... S....

This live vocal knocks spots off her recording on vinyl. The emotion, oozes with this performance, her vocal is breathtaking which just isn’t there with the vinyl version

  24. S.... R....

Great audio video quality. It's amazing seeing Barbra at this young age so clearly. I loved watching her expressive eyes.

  25. f.... ....

    There are no words.

  26. e.... r....

20 years old.....untrained......Remarkable! Me thinks we shall never see one such as her anytime soon.

    e.... r....

Absolutely Eric. Barbra is the best female artist we have ever known. Ella Fitzgerald comes a close second but BS is just superb. As a child her friends called her the girl with the voice and they were spot on. This performance at just 20 is outstanding.

    e.... r....

    If ever...

  27. g.... ....

I can only listen to this piece of shit when she sang before she got political ... the later performances I can not look at ...this one I can

    g.... ....

Try to separate politics from art. It's easy.

  28. d.... v....

I agree with all of you, a perfect performance, one for the ages as the best!

  29. 1.... ....

    She's just amazing!!

  30. g.... ....

Andy Williams does a sadder gentler version

  31. G.... G....

She's TWENTY years old here. Unbelievable!

  32. T.... M....

All the gorgeous build-up...and then that last bell-like note. Just stunning

  33. L.... P....

    Beautiful, natural and heartfelt rendition...
    so real emotions ...
    Truly an incredible talent!
    Barbara Streisand
    impressive and great voice...

  34. a.... d....

    omg shivers up my spine

  35. K.... B....

THE best arrangement of this song by her bar none!! It was on the *Songs for a Summer Night* album & I remember as a kid in the sixties.

  36. J.... M....

Great audio quality. Thanks! What an amazing performance, and what a fantastic song. Kander and Ebb are the best ever. This live recording is a million times better than the emotionally flat, droning studio version on The Second Album. If Streisand had stayed this good (and maybe she would have if she'd stuck to just singing), I'd still be a big fan -- as I was when she did this -- but she got to be very boring as she became more successful; and I'd had enough of her by the time she was in Funny Girl. "People" is such a stupid song.

    J.... M....

JM MJ Have you heard the studio version? It's bursting with aching passion and feeling, one of her best performances. Even compared to it live it doesn't lose any of its immediate power.

    J.... M....

JM MJ, what are you droning on about?

    J.... M....

So you liked her only the 2 first years of he career???...so ridiculous

  37. T.... S....

This is my favorite performance by arguably the greatest female talent that ever existed!.

    T.... S....

It is pretty damned good, I agree: so fresh, so full of confidence and she's brilliant. In 1962, nobody heard the likes of her - likely we never will again.

  38. R.... P....

    Oh my 😍😍

  39. M.... F....

Amazing! What a voice that woman was blessed with.

    M.... F....

    *LEGENDARY*
