She is superb. I love this , but prefer the 1967 'Simply Streisand' version . An even more wistful, fantastic vocal.

Just binging on Funny Girl (1968) & Funny Lady (1975). I haven't seen either in years, because it was so prevalent for so long.
With enough time lapsed, I can appreciate the incredible performance by Barbra Streisand. She was only 24-yrs. old when she made Funny Girl. She captured the essence of Fanny Brice, and carried it through seven years later, to bring the more mature, realistic side of Ms. Brice to life.

Barbra Streisand proved to be every bit as great a talent as her debut on Ed Sullivan, at the tender age of nineteen, promised. An outstanding career, without question.

I've listened to other singer's versions of this song. Barbra's is the only one that conveys the feelings behind the lyrics. The other singers are simply singing a song.

I'll answer my own question. I can't forget the giant volume of crappy movies she made, also there have been some forgettable songs too. She just rubs me the wrong way.

barbra is from another era......she is the epitomy of *movie star*.......i was lucky enough to meet her in 1985 and she is even more beautiful in person........

I remember Funny Girl and Funny Lady it was 7 years after the release of Funny Girl which was 1975, I watched the movies at 12-13 years old

This lady sings this so beautifully it makes you want to cry for her.

only barbra can sing this the inflection the performance in the voice she has said it many times she is an actress who can sing and she acts in her songs
i stop in my tracks everytime this woman opens her mouth
she is a gift to this and future generations love you barb

this is a true gift a song for the ages with a voice to echo thru time
tell others this should have a million hits by now and apprieciated
treasures are suppose to be discovered calling out to the youth of the world
this music is a treasure more valuable than gold, class and dignity and beauty
let see someone do a cover of this, and do it justice very very difficult
but who wil take up the challenge, thank you barbra for your talent and the beauty
you have gven us.
